What do people think of Renato Sanches? Seen a few reports linking him with some clubs.

Asking cause other than a few youtube videos, I've not seen much of him (or Bayern for that matter). From my limited viewing, so far I see a fitter version of Anderson minus the explosiveness.

Overhyped because he had great physical attributes for his age. He's not good enough tactically and technically for a top side IMO, he really needs to work on that side of his game if he's to succeed at a club of Bayern's ilk.

If you're faster and stronger at a young age then you can look great against other kids but it's a different story when you are playing against players who are older and wiser than you.

He will need to take a step down and go somewhere where he can play every week before he can take a step forward. Should never give gone to Bayern at his stage of development.

On his season with Benfica main squad he was pretty good, lots of physical power and he was excelent at holding and protecting the ball but tatically he had a lot to develop yet. It was often for the midfield to open big gaps cause of him being out of position, fortunatly he had massive stamina and managed to recover back, but when he was tired it showed his lack of discipline. But he's still 19, ther's time for him, plus he's already far above most players at that age. Didn't follow his development in Bayern, but I think he rarely played a full match. Should have stayed a couple more seasons with Benfica learning and developing his capacities.

I dont see how he could ever become a class player. He has power and great constitution but lacks everything a decent midfielder should have. His decisions are hilariously bad, positioning not good enough and no clue what to do with the ball. He also seems not integrated into the squad which is also his fault to certain part and refuses to learn German. I think that in the right club with the right coach he could become a decent player but nothing he has shown implies any worldclass or even international class.

He's good in PES MasterLeague

Not so good in real life.

Yep. Southampton will report Liverpool to the Premier League over an illegal approach for centre-back Virgil van Dijk

Drama drama, gimme it.

Kolasinac to sign for Arsenal - confirmed.

Good start for us i would say. Not really seen much of him but heard that he had a good season. This will probably force Gibbs to leave now and for £14m which has been reported seems like a good bit of business.

Der Nachfolger von Thomas Tuchel ist ein Niederländer. Peter Bosz wird neuer Trainer bei Borussia Dortmund. Zuvor trainierte er Ajax Amsterdam – und soll dort nun im Streit gegangen sein.

No translation needed.

edit: in case it is not clear enough, Bosz to Dortmund is confirmed.
edit2: kicker.de also reports it, Ajax gets 3 Million Euro; contract till 2019

Seems like Liverpool have only talked with VVD and his staff so far. A lot of the news from earlier today mentioned that talks with Southampton "will happen soon".

Weirdly enough, when I read this yesterday it made me think about tapping up lol

I mean, all the talk from the club isn't even attempting to hide it - we basically have been bragging about how talking to Klopp has got van Dijk convinced and how it will stop Chelsea and City going after him.

I think the tapping up rules are basically silly, because it's only logical to do it before trying for a player, but Southampton do have a point here - and it seems we have given them plenty of evidence to make things difficult too. Would have made everything easier if the club were able to keep quiet on this transfer until it was done - after that it would be easy enough to have van Dijk tell everyone about how great he thinks Klopp is

Seems that way.

Fulham reported us as well ages back, and we've got that academy ban in place atm due to tapping up. I think it's a dumb rule tbh, everyone does it.

No one else is stupid enough to get caught though. Liverpool are just so incompetent when it comes to transfers.

True. The club really does need to stop leaking info to journalists all the time.

Edit: some more good news from the Echo. I think this is all just posturing tbh.

Roma are holding out for a fee that would see the Anfield side smash their club record of £35m paid to Newcastle United for Andy Carroll in 2011.

Liverpool, though, are refusing to pay over the odds for the 24-year-old, and are considering alternative players should a deal not materialise.

Leaking that Van Dijk had dinner with Klopp is fucking dumb. What did you expect to happen? Liverpool deserve a ban for leaking all this shit to the press. 😂

It's been too long since a good tapping up story, I mean most transfer stories these days say that personal terms have already been agreed etc when talking about bids.

I wonder how it works now because obviously everyone is at it, leaking stories about the wages on offer etc is one way and an international teammate telling a player how great a club is another, but I wonder if there's some sort of method clubs use to put distance between them and the tapping up (off the books employees who deals with it? go through enough agents or whatever to not leave yourselves exposed?)

I think Chelsea would be the best place for him to go style wise. City were reported to be interested but not for the fee Southampton want especially as they need a more consistent senior player and he doesn't bring any perks like being classed as homegrown, VVD would be good but would fit in somewhere between Stones and Otamendi and City would still need somebody with experience to orchestrate the back. It has probably just pissed Southampton off because they understandably would have wanted to push a bidding war but it was silly of Liverpool to start telling everyone, poor first move from Peter Moore especially after announcing they wouldn't be putting down big money.

I dont think its in anyones interest that a ban happens really, everyone can accept that its something that all clubs are doing (which only makes sense as it would be silly to have to pursue a player if you have no idea whether they are willing to consider playing for your club)

Southampton should rightly use it to get a few more £m out of Liverpool in light of the fact that in this instance they have basically used it to drive off the competition, but anything more than that would be too far imo

I mean look at all the recent big transfers that have happened/been rumoured - there is no way that United/Madrid/Barca weren't tapping up players like Pogba/Griezmann/Ronaldo/Bale/Suarez/Neymar. Applying a transfer ban for it isn't going to stop the problem, and will probably just end up being used against a small number of clubs before promptly being forgotten about again

Idk about who he fits better style wise to be honest, but thats beside the point really if van Dijks apparent preference to join Liverpool is true anyway

But yeah, Southampton have every right to be pissed off that in this case a bidding war has effectively been diffused before even starting, and the club bragging about it really hasn't helped their case here - they should have kept quiet about it and then done the same bragging after the transfer is all done.

Looks like Lukaku to Chelsea is wrapping up. I'm interested in seeing what he can do with some decent service although I'm not sure where Costa is going to fit. I'm sort of bummed he turned down China tbh.

Also Mbappe better have a potential rating of 200 in FM18, considering these prices being thrown around.

Of course...

Doubt it will lead to anything, Southampton probably want him to put in a transfer request.

It's going to be far more then that.

Depends. Knowing how dumb Liverpool are with leaking stuff to the press, there is probably a lot of evidence that we can use.

There is clearly plenty of proof - my point is more about the negative consequences to Southampton, and the fact that Liverpool are far from the only club to be doing it. Any kind of ban would be overly punitive imo

What would be negative? We want to keep Van Dijk if we can. Keeping him another year and maybe losing the odd 10 to 20 mil is nothing in Prem terms.

Ah right, i guess that is where we differ - I don't think that there was any chance of van Dijk staying this summer given the clubs that are apparently interested in him, it seems he'd be leaving anyway, so the loss to Southampton is whatever transfer fee they miss out on by there not being a bidding war (which is fair enough to be pissed off about)

It just annoys me when people complain about tapping up in football in general really - literally every club is doing it, and will continue to do it. Hence why it shouldn't lead to any extremely harsh punishments or anything beyond a fine really.

Sounds like Semedo has already passed his medical. Quite the coup for Villarreal to sign him ahead of several mid-table EPL clubs.

Indeed. The news are saying the deal was/is being done for €15M + objectives. Seems chump change for most, if not all, of the current Premier League clubs (considering what they make just on TV rights alone).

I didn't say anything about thinking he is staying. I was purely posting from what the clubs mouth piece Jeremy Wilson has said.

I really hope Mbappe goes to Arsenal if he isn't going to stay at Monaco. Might mean City would have a better chance at signing Sanchez.

BREAKING: @Everton striker Romelu Lukaku says he has reached 'an agreement' with another club #SSNHQ

The scenes when there's a betrayal.

"Yes I have signed for a London club... But you'll see on the contract it says ARSENAL"

Gotta be Chelsea though right? All the Barkley talk has died down as well.

That Spain U-21 squad is ridiculous.
Why did Atleti sell Óliver Torres?

He was a bad fit for Simeone's system. Torres isn't physical enough to be a holding mid and he's not a true attacker like Carrasco either. Should be perfect for the possession game that Spain uses internationally though.
