Cheap transfer fee and Champions League experience plus Mancini had had success with him before. Outside of the first game against Madrid where he was terrible, he actually has played well for City. He got injured though so he hasn't played in awhile. Zaba has also been a world beater this season which perhaps has had an affect on the speed at which they rehab him.
