Williams with a new pit stop record for this season - 1.92 seconds

This is equal time to RBR pit stop from 2013

Those cunts actually gave Kimi 2 penalty points for daring to cross the white line for pits entry because he was slipstreaming and accidentally pulled into the pit entry.

2 penalty points for an honest mistake... Wow.

Trackside food at Baku

The Hamilton needs more salt.

I have to say the race was not terribly fun, but the trackside overhanging trees and buildings are nice to see. It really felt like a city race.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
This is always funny to remember.

Imagine somebody had said in 1997 that Stewart and Tyrrell would dominate F1 in 2010 and beyond.

So Haas bring in a Nascar driver to Baku (he was in the Haas motorhome, right?), who promptly trades helmets with a Mercedes driver who looks like he's scared he might accidentally be forced to drive a Nascar by touching a Nascar helmet...
Yes, I know they have the same sponsor

There were only 14,000 grandstand seats for the race and not all were occupied. The strangest thing was that the balconies all round the circuit were not packed with people, as one would expect. What kept them indoors?

But who cares when money is right:

For F1, the logic of being in Baku was simple: money. This is probably the biggest ever F1 race contract, with an annual fee in excess of $60 million. Some even think it could be $70 million. The deal is for five years (plus a 10 percent annual increase), meaning a deal worth at least $360 million to the sport, with an additional four years + one option that could increase that total to more than $750 million. Azerbaijan also has to pay the costs of erecting and dismantling the circuit each year (which will amount to more than $200 million over a 10-year period), so we are looking at an investment of $1 billion from the government. There is no way that this race will ever make that kind of money, but the logic is simple: if it makes people think that Baku is nice place, it will produce huge returns in tourism.

They should get to Watkins Glen again for a NASCAR + F1 track day... It has fresh asphalt and some new safety measures.

Still not up to F1 standards tho :(

One American circuit that I see that could be an amazing F1 circuit is Road America. With some reformations, especially on the paddock and the pits, that could be an amazing venue.

Laguna Seca.

I wonder if an F1 car would go airborne at the corkscrew. That is a hell of a drop.

Edit: Come to think of it, that's a pretty short track, so it would be something like a 70-80 lap race. And don't think it's in any condition to support an F1 race. Would need quite a few new runoff areas and some other work done.

Rumor in Spanish Media is that Carlos Sainz is very close to signing a 2017 deal with Renault instead of adding another year at Toro Rosso.

Apparently the deal includes Red Bull getting the Renault updates as soon as the works team, without the latter getting preferential treatment to RBR and STR. Renault and RBR had meetings in Baku over this, which Ecclestone also sat in with. Allegedly, KMag went to Horner during Baku to ask if the rumors were true so he could find out if he needed to go find a new seat for 2017 or not.

Yep, it's been said in the Brazilian press too that Renault is interested in Sains. It's also been said that Nasr wants to jump off the sinking boat that is Sauber and want to join Renault. It's also said that Renault has interest in Massa, a veteran to help them to develop the car, but it seems that his paycheck is higher than they are willing to pay.
