Forza 7 |OT| The 7 you've been waiting for!

Agreed. I really don't have much to complain about now after 2 days of gaming. Still a 9/10 for me. Down from 10 to 9 simply because the A.I is worthless and can't handle pile-ups and do clean races, the first turn always ends up like Destruction Derby for me lol

I see some bumping at the first corner. Nothing too bad, a few scratches. You should see PCars2 - cars on top of other cars at the first corner!

Fuck these servers. Leading a multiplayer race and disconnected from the game. Not the first time this has happened either.

Also, driving standards are currently absolute trash.

AI difficulty is all over the place. On some tracks I can blitz them easy. Others it's a struggle. I have a feeling circuits with slow corners and chicanes slow the AI down considerably more than on faster circuits.

Funnily enough I've actually found the opposite. I was struggling to be quicker than Pro AI around Leguna Seca in that touring car event in the Breakout championship, only managing to win because I decided to make the race length longer and passed for the lead on the last lap. In contrast, the next race at Silverstone (GP) I took the lead on the first lap and finished the race almost 30 seconds ahead.

Pretty funny to read that article on Windows Central. I guess the game treating VIP's as MIP's and building everything around loot boxes wasn't enough to not give it a perfect score.
Delicious irony.

FWIW, it's a decent game, they just didn't need to chisel certain bits out and put them behind a loot wall.

Can't help but feel Turn 10 hadn't quite got the game ready. I got the 1993 Renault Clio Williams and there's no gear shift animation. That and the Formula E series not starting, some dodgy shadows in night racing and serious graphic glitching after viewing multiple driver outfits is about all the flaws I know of. Not too bad, I guess.

My only change would be that the VIP mod was unlimited use. If that was the case I wouldn't feel ripped. Now I feel like I have to hold on to them to wait for the perfect extra long race I want to do. I hope they fix the VIP bonuses, and if they don't I hope they give us more for it. Like cars every once in a while or 3 VIP loot boxes every month. That's all I'd need to make this right.

There should be a single VIP card that has unlimited uses and gives say 10% - 20% boost to both credits and XP.

I suppose there will be some free crates every so often but I am not holding my breath.

I would like some actual VIP cars though, ones that actually stand-out and are special, the Mitsubishi GTO LM Edition would be my choice, that was/is a legendary car on the original Gran Turismo.

I miss not having a load of cars from the start, cars that made me feel unable to wait to get to a level when I can actually race them.

I am just disappointed in the game, we shouldn't have to wait for things to be fixed, there are a lot of in-happy people and the deluxe and ultimate owners are the most loyal supporters of the series, I know that things change but why not be up-front about it, all of the content was revealed pretty late, I honestly don't think people can be blamed for being and feeling disappointed and let-down, I am wondering if this has just been rushed out for the Xbox One X though.

Have any of you guys been playing the Porsche turn key game on the XBL rewards site?

Ive won a race suit(who cares) another Hoonagin car pack (ill give it to someone who didn't pre order) and I just won a month of XBL Gold. I havent even gotten the 10 turns I got for pre ordering yet. Ive had a decent success rate of wining stuff.

Got a suit, a Hoonigan code and a free VIP pass. Not sure what I’ll do with that since they don’t stack....

lol well for me it's usually a lottery if I'm at 5th place or 24th place after the first turn. I either make it through the pile relatively untouched (and then make it to 1st or second place after the first lap) or I get smashed from behind and gets pushed into the tire wall beside the track which causes the car to twist 90-180 degrees (and then I usually end up at 12th position after the first lap). GTs AI is miles ahead imo even though they tend to drive like robots there. But all the things FM7 does right overshadows the few bad things, Turn10 has made an absolutely fantastic game imo.

This game can certainly look good, but lord, please do something about those trees. :) I know it a little superficial, but those on Maple Valley just look bad. Hope they can be improved on the X.

*Does anyone know how to keep Free Play from changing tracks after every race? That'd really speed up the CR/XP farming.

All the trees are 2D in the PC version and I expect nothing different on the Xbox One X.

Yeah, when playing it, I love it!

I mean, the hate is warranted to a degree, but people who hate the practice and refuse to play it (or weren’t going to in the first place, they just love picking up pitchforks) are missing out on a great game,

Forza online standards has and always will be trash.

Oh I know, but I've never seen anything like this in the several iterations of Forza games over the years. Probably doesn't help that the physics seem to have added some kind of trampoline effect to each corner of your car when you make contact with someone else.

Shifting animations were pretty bad in Forza 6. I actually read they improved them in 7, probably a bug with the Clio that's going to be patched.

You can rent cars in the online races. So you can just go straight to online. And you earn XP and credits online. Not sure what the problem is.

Can't customize a rental, so it's useless against those that have tuned cars. And I never said people don't earn xp or money.

Choose restart race. It actually means replay this race. You'll still get your post race reward.

So do we get any more of those VIP bonus mods? Mine are gone already. Built up a lot of credits but still, that's pretty scummy if we don't get some each week or something.
Yeah, feeling a bit ripped off with all of that. Probably should have passed on the UE this time, especially with how bad the mtx are now.

Hows Maple Valley, Is it still as much fun as I remember back in FM 2/3/4?

The huge wide curve isn't as narrow as it used to be due to the pitlane change, but it's just as great as it used to be. The last corner where you fly through the last dangerous corner on the full track is just as fun as ever.

The only night I'd ever have time to run the races on long would be Saturday. Problem is on short the credit payout is absolutely stuff all. I feel so broke in this game. Assuming when I do have more time, Saturday night for example, I could use my evening grinding laps in free play mode with a FE car? I always took free play modes as no rewards, doesn't seem to be the case in Forza.

Not the greatest way to play but there's a number of pricey cars I'd love to have in the garage.

It'd be nice if each level gave us a random free box to open. Sometimes you get unlucky and get a cheap mod box, sometimes you luck out and get a 300k box to open. Would be pretty exciting and alleviate some of the grief.

I almost drove myself to hating this game trying to find good wheel settings on PC. Fuck it is so frustrating.
I've given up and will really only use controller from now on.

Not as fun as it was in FM4. Now it looks dark and washed out. Gone are the beautifully rendered 3D trees, narrow track and joyful saturated autumn colors.

I love Forza 7, and it is an incredibly beautiful game. But we gotta stop getting 2d shit from now on. I mean, the cars are at a point where we can stop focusing quite so much on them and have to start giving the environments more geometry and higher res texutres/effects. IMO of course.

Another thing that changed is they moved trees further away from the track (I guess because 2D trees look too ugly to be in your face like they were in FM4). You no longer get the feeling as if you are driving through the tree tunnel like you did in FM4. If you check video at 1:45 you can see what I mean. I loved that in FM4.

While the cutback in trees and the 2d trees take away a bit from Maple Valley, I do like how the environment seems more alive with the wind fans, the added grand stand on the turn shortly after the bridge and the openness of the first sweeping turn. So it is a give and take for me, I am just glad it is back and it is just as fun to drive. The visual changes I feel mixed, but still overall pretty good.

There are so many older tracks I would love to see still:

Alpine Ring
Fujimi Kaido
New York I & II
Camino Viejo
Sunset Peninsula

To name a few. I am hoping this year for at least 2-3 new environments as DLC and perhaps a few additional ones with different time of day/weather etc.

Wow those 2d trees looks fucking horrible... I'm a huge Forza fan but 7 is really making me wonder if I should bother with it.

If they're smart and want to justify the token launch at a later date, they need to associate free track DLC with the formal reveal. Basically tell the community "this is an option, you can 100% turn it off and the game will be no different, but this makes it easier for us to do otherwise free content updates so online hoppers don't get split."

All the trees are 2D in the PC version and I expect nothing different on the Xbox One X.

All I can see the xbox X doing is giving 4k, sharper textures and shadows and not much else since I can't really think what else they can do without rebundling the track maps rebuilt with more details, which I doubt they will do at all.

We need a Forza 8 which is X only, really push out the boat when it comes to details and visuals on the track.

There wont be a "X" only Forza. What I see them doing is making F8 on the "X" and then downport it to the original system. No way it stays at 1080p/60fps. They will move to 900p/60fps to make up for it or a dynamic resolution on original X1 hardware to maintain the 60fps.

Is this VIP pass nonsense serious? I got the deluxe edition for the VIP pass and now I am hearing that they are consumable items? WTF. I am really thinking about asking for a refund if this is true.

I mean the updates are subtle visually, higher resolution, sun rays, reflection on the windscreen, better lighting and extra detail here and there. Not a generational leap if you compare just this track although the newer Dubai track is visually very pleasing to the eye on my PC.

I posted a clip on my Live timeline but the Ford Fairlane is hilariously bugged. When driven by the AI the springs must be set to min stiff because the car just bounces all over the place. Even does like mini wheelies.

You decide to get a game based on 2d trees on the side of the track?

It bothers me enough to not want to support it (rolled up with all the other changes) but it's something you see a lot of in racing games, trees on the side of the tracks take up a lot of your viewing time.

It's not like a lod thing being too extreme, the trees are all 2-3 sheets of textures now instead of 20+ with brances hanging over the track.

I am actually speechless at this comparison, it is like we have gone back in time.

I don't think I would not buy the game because of only that. It's mostly just very apparent on that track. On most other tracks, the trees look ok and aren't nearly as bad imo. But mind you I'm not going around specifically focusing on that. Some tracks quite simply look amazing.

It's really the same thing with the other 2 high profile racing games in Project Cars 2 and Gran Turismo. Some courses look great, others look not so much. They all use 2D trees to some degree, especially when trying to fill in or block entire spaces inside the track lines.

The other thing is all 3 games are reusing assets wherever possible. Some get updated slightly, others not at all. As much as we all love TONS of content in our racing game, it's really up to the developers to make the decision to cut back on the amount of content and really remodel and design everything. Which I think people are ready for if it means truly upgraded models and environments.

Getting serious stuttering, missing textures and poor framerate after a couple of 50 lap races. The kind of thing I would expect from a memory leak.

Restarted the game and everything went back to normal.

Well as Driveclub showed us, it’s either high quality trees/scenery or nailed gameplay, seems we can never both.

Thats a joke BTW before I get jumped behind the garage.

I'm not being overly dramatic when I say maple valley actually looked better in Forza Motorsport ONE, 14 years ago.

Beautiful photo mode pics, need moar.

Full disclosure, I love the Forza series but I am a casual player of it. I never go online. I use a decent amount of assists. I just really enjoy the game overall and have beaten all the SP campaigns over the years. It usually takes me months to do so but I eventually do. I actually was going to wait for the X to release to start playing, but I caved in.

So with that little disclaimer in mind, is getting good and perfect turns much more difficult in this latest game?

I almost always got at least a good turn in previous games. However I am hardly seeing any in this game. I think I have gotten maybe 3 perfect turns if that. I used to get them pretty frequently at least.

Granted I have only done the very first hatch back series in the Cup, and as I said I am a casual player, but it is not like I am brand new to the game or series.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and/or if Turn 10 has said anything about turns being harder to get this time around.
