- HDD installation. Why aren't all the tracks on disc? They should've just taken out the crappy cars from the first disc and put them on the second instead of taking out the tracks! I got no HDD with my 360 so this sucks.

You don't have an external USB storage device that you can use with your 360?

i tthink sales for both the pgr series and the rsc series were not all that great... if MS, or turn 10, is reinventing them, i'd imagine it will be part of a massive forza 4 with racing (forza-ish), street racing (pgr-ish), and rally (rsc-ish) much like GT does with its different aspects of racing.

by the way, when is the japolink car pack with the 037 releasing? its the only car pack i'll buy and i need to get the in game Cr ready to purchase multiple copies of my favorite lancia for each class :)
That would be absolutley,categorically,positively,unambiguously awesome!!

You can already see it sorta happening. The drift game mode seems to implement the feature from pgr quite well, introduce corresponding levels and it's pretty much there.

Well well....what do we have here?

"Turn 10 is looking for community members in the LA area to come to visit us at an E3 party celebrating the history of the Forza franchise and a peek at the future of racing games."
Interesting..

Some new Le Mans shots. I grabbed the 2010 #3 Peugeot 908 on the storefront. I guess, we won't see the official Peugeot in Forza anymore...:lol
I also did a 24 minutes race today to celebrate the 24h !:D
Their amount of sponsoring on the 24h of Le Mans just show how much more committed is Sony in its racing franchise compared to Microsoft. The Xbox 360 (with no mention of Forza anywhere to be seen) sponsoring was a tiny thing on the car but Playstation is all over the car and Gran Turismo is on the spoiler and all over the chicanes and it's been like that for several years now.
I wish Microsoft treated Forza Motorsport (and Turn 10) better.

And that's not all there was and certainly not the most impressive stuff !:D

I just need to edit the license plate and I'll post some photos of the meeting.

PS : I'll just say that the 458 Italia is even more beautiful in real life !:D

No thanks, PGR shouldn't be touched by Turn 10 ever. I'd rather the franchise left dead.

I had to pick up a new Xbox 360 after my 3rd one died. I've moved over the hard drive to the new console and am currently in the process of reinstalling games. I deleted the original disc install of Forza 3 from my HDD and reinstalled disc 1 again. I didn't get prompted to install disc 2 when I booted up the game. I assume all that content is still available to me (I can't for the life of me remember what it is) even though I didn't have to reinstall the 2nd disc?

Is there something I can look for in the game to make sure it's reading the disc 2 content off the HDD?

Thanks

Just go in the career mode. The event list should have some locked events if you don't have the second disc installed.

@Psychotext : Thanks for the comment
@Stoffinator : That's low ! :(

As promised, here are some photos of the Red Horse 2010 meetings. It took place in La Grande Motte, a small seaside resort near Montpellier (yes, that's the same Montpellier where King Kong, BG&E, Rayman were created).

I'll start with some nice cars parked near the meeting :

I also saw a red GT-R when driving by but couldn't take a picture of it.

The Maserati was parked with the Ferrari, I guess that's because it's same family !:lol

As you could see from the panorama I posted, there were plenty of F355, F430, 360 Modena/Spyder so I'll only show photos of the best cars. I begin gently with the 599 Fiorano :

Only one 430 Scuderia this year. There were two or three last year.

The most recent addition to the Ferrari line-up, the 458 Italia. I was already loving it in photos and in Forza but seeing it in real is a whole different thing. It has such beautiful curves.

Now we're gearing up with 575 Superamerica. Only 559 produced and 19 in France.

And now, full rev. The masterpiece of this meeting. A beautiful 196S Dino !:D
I don't know it was a real one but even if it was a replica, it was alongside the 458 the most beautiful cars of the meeting IMO.

No I didn't get in the car... :(

If you want more photos in higher resolution, head to the Flickr set (Click on the photo below to do so).

Seeing all those Ferrari made me want even more to see older Ferrari in games. Except for Test Drive Unlimited, I don't recall seeing the 308, 348, 456, etc... in recent games. I guess that's because those cars are a lot less known than the post-360 Modena Ferrari...

God I really hate being locked up in college studing for finals in Belfort, I'll be at La Grande Motte in ten days, the Ferraris won't be there anymore though..

Saw a nice 458 Italia a fortnight ago while coming back from Thonon for a regatta I had on the Léman, just before the Swiss border. Beautiful :D

Looking around a car and being able to turn the engine on is the future of racing games?
Ummm hello...just give us plain old FORZA 4 with a controller thanks...

Yeah how can you not do that with a controller?

Anyway I'm happy they are updating Forza 3, one of the few reasons I might grab Kinect head tracking in this.

So I just watched the Turn 10 presentation at E3 showing the controller less racing and the showroom mode. It was quoted as "The future of racing". Well if this is the future I need a new hobby because that was complete bullsh*t.

I just bought a 450$ Fanatec wheel to have better feedback and feel from the game, why in hell would I want to play with just my two hands up in the air for two hours without any kind of feedback from the game?

And for the showroom mode. It does look kinda cool (useless but cool). But give this to me with gamepad control and it would be even better. More precise and a lot faster.

I am really getting pissed off by the companies forcing down motion control down our throats like it's the next big revolution when in fact it's just another gimmick for the casual players that will probably die in a couple of years.

Listen to me che, or who the hell is on this forum. I heard the words Turn10 and I thought PGR5. What I got instead was some weird-ass Forza 3.5 demo where you can walk around cars. This is not the future of racing games. It's cool, sure, as a gimmick, at the Geneve Auto Show or something, not on an Xbox 360.

I am so disappointed.

I didn't catch it (mrs down my ear, ha), but is it an update for F3 or a whole new game?

Exactly what you said Luigi, but I'll hold judgement until I get my 'hands' :lol on it.

I have to say that I find the idea interesting but I laughed so hard when Dan said "you can take a look at the lights" when Turn 10 couldn't even properly do lights in most of Forza 3 cars ! :lol

Other interesting things are the amount of cars on track in the overtaking demo and the headlights being turned on though.

This feature isn't new as good old NFS had a QuickTime VR thing where you could look around the real cockpit. You could also compare real statistics between cars. I always thought this idea was great and I'm glad Turn 10 is taking it further BUT I really hope this Kinect (what a shitty name, it may be great for native english people but not for other languages) stuff doesn't derail them from making a proper Forza Motorsport. :(

The 2011 date is also interesting. Will it be part of a huge update, a stand alone experience thing, a Forza 3 rerelease with all DLC or even Forza 4 ?

They didn't mention a number 3 though;)

Although it is obvious.

Controller/wheel steering + Kinect head tracking would be bliss.

that was... weird.

+ head tracking is awesome. awesome, that is, so long as i can use a pad or wheel and have head tracking.
+ i got a huge boner when they first showed that desert environment thinking of rally. <-- this please.
/ the car porn is useless. kinda cool i guess, but still, useless.
- new mode, where you pass endless cars, is lame.
- steering with your hands only is lame.

i need more info on what the fuck this is (update?) and what it includes.

Obviously not we don't know everything about this hands free shit, so i'll wait for confirmation from Che/T10.
But they explicitly stated that this is the future of racing and how they want to phase out the controller.....not looking too good i'm afraid.

P.S- I hate casual gaming and everything associated with it. Damn you, damn you all to hell!

“Forza Motorsport Preview” is a select peek at one aspect of the future of the Forza Motorsport franchise, both in terms of the way Kinect has empowered Turn 10 to create a revolutionary way to interact with virtual cars, as well as the breathtaking foundation of a new graphics engine capable of producing the images seen in our E3 gallery. The next full Forza Motorsport experience, which utilizes some of the ideas presented in this demo, will ship in 2011.

The E3 Preview article is up

I don't remember anyone saying this was an update to forza 3, isn't this ferrari Kinetic thing just some sort of gimmick download?

Head tracking and hands in the air to steer would be fun for a little bit, but eh.

So.. forza 4 2011 on 360? hope they polish it up big time :D

I don't know how to feel about that announcement. I'm happy because more Forza is always good in my books but I can't help but get this feeling that if Turn 10 had more polish time, Forza 3 would have turned more or less in this.
The graphics are impressive in the 458 thing to say the least but it was only one car in an empty environment (à la GT menu) and the gameplay part looked pretty much like Forza 3 so I'll hold my breath and wait for real screens/videos with plenty of cars and physics to judge. We know how the whole Forza 3 LOD thing turned out. Great menu cars but not so greats models in-game...

Also, another game engine. I guess building from the ground up wasn't enough Forza 3. So much for being the definitive game !:lol

This image is impressive though :
FM_3_Art.jpg

Looks like Turn 10 took some shader lesson, I wonder from who...:lol

Finger crossed for all of what I wished in this thread to make it in and for the kinect crap to not interfere in the quality of gameplay/game. :D

Avoids JPEG compression question for Forza 'Preview'.

Hype building for a solid game though. The engine for F3 certainly is upto scratch, will be nice to see improvements though.

Can't wait for more info jube.

So......that's what Forza 4 is going to look like in just a years time?
Faaaark meeeee!!!!
Still waiting on controller and wheel confirmation for FM4 though....

G Rom

I'm 99% sure controller/wheel will be in if this is indeed Forza 4. Imagine the shit storm on FM.net and community websites if it wasn't. Thinking about, Turn 10 should just make fake communication on the game being Kinect only, just to see the reactions !:lol :lol

Don't get fooled saladine1. As much I want to believe it will look this good, the gameplay part was just a rehash of Forza 3 graphics and the 458 Italia thing was just one car sitting there with nothing else (no physics, AI, etc...).
I can't imagine 500+ cars looking like that. I mean, the full Forza 3 experience is eating more than 10 GB on my HDD. How the hell would they fit 500+ extremely detailed models with much higher resolution textures and more tracks on one or two discs ?
If Microsoft authorize true HDD install now that the new Xbox 360 has a built-in HDD, I could see that though (and that would be great). :D

Hela

But we're sitting inside all the cars right now, in Forza 3. I just can't see in what way is that better than the official pics/presentations of all the cars and why would I be excited about that and I love Forza.

there's 2 different kinds of head tracking - the one which forza has which just moves the camera with your head - this has been done many times before and just like the other ones, it's a half ass solution (they'll usually blame it on not being able to look out your side windows in racing games)

you'll probably turn it off in 5 seconds flat, it's really annoying.

true head tracking knows where your head is relative to the screen and alters the game geometry AND camera to give the screen an amazing 3d effect. like you'd be peering through a WINDOW into the car

i see. hopefully its a work in progress, because i can see how that would really add to the experience. but, even if its not, the head tracking as shown looks useful and cool to me.
