OK, I just got my Ultimate Edition.
Advice, please.
I have my Forza 3 Collectors Edition saved on my HDD (both discs installed). I'd like to install Ultimate Edition instead. Notice I have small 20GB HDD from 2006 series.
What should I do now in order to prevent any problems with data?

2. I did my install before this thread existed, but here's what worked for me.
Uninstall disc1 of LCE
Insert disc1 of Ultimate
Use it to install disc2 of Ultimate DLC
Enter codes for Ultimate exclusive DLC
Install disc1 of Ultimate
Remove standalone DLC packs duplicated in Ultimate
Just wanted to drop in and say I started playing this over the pasy couple of days. I'm not a car guy or car gamer by any means but I decided to get on the ball. Let me just say this is a really well designed game.
I once heard an article or someone on a podcast talk about how they spent so much time in the menus and forgot that there was an actual game to play. I gotta agree, these menus are something else. I love how everything works together and is so cohesive. The storefront is fun and just browsing through all of the designs is cool.
The actual driving is great too although I still have most of the assists turned on. I really enjoy the player rewarding too how companies are handing me cars and stuff as I lvl (?). Also, who every composed the music should win something, its freaking phenomenal. I couldn't believe a car game had this good of music (the menu stuff, not licensed tracks that play during a race).
So yeah, my only two complaints is that the loading to get into a race takes a bit. This may be remedied with an install which I haven't done. Also, I feel like there needs to be more than just season play for racing. I just finished my first but I can see it becoming a bit of a grind. Of course, I'm not super serious so that also plays into factor.
Anyways, nice job Turn 10. I'll be looking into F4 more than I would have before.

I agree, the menu music is fantastic, the licensed on the other hand, not so much. To bad playing your own music isn't implemented all that well though.Grisby said:

I do that, but it could have been implemented a little better if you use custom music. "Your" music plays over the menu music too.Slayer-33 said:

Took a while but the leaderboards now show over 3 million (circuit), if anyone cares. Funny thing is that this is the second time it's been at 3 million. It was there about a year ago, but I guess people were banned or something because it went back down to just over 2 million.

I got the 100k Drift Achivement tonight. Was so awesome because I was in my Subaru S204 Drift Tune while listening to this. :lol
Found the Ultimate Collection so cheap that I couldn't pass it up. I put a few hours into it, and like gkryhewy I was gifted Missing Content right after the introduction race I think it was. In my case it was only one of the gifts, the rest were were named and they were cars. Sadly, I didn't know the gift messages were clickable so I deleted them all until I saw the Missing Content one and saw that you could press A (which opens up a marketplace window and offers me to buy things I should already have). Did I still get the cars or are they gone?
How did you fix this problem gkryhewy? I restarted the game twice and it still won't show up with a name.
Also, the Top Gear DLC code was supposed to give you 3 cars, a theme and a video (or at least so the leaflet that came with the game says), but all that was mentioned after I had typed in the code and started the download was the video. I later looked among my themes and found nothing Forza related. As for the cars, I have no idea what they are or whether or not I have them. I doubt I'll miss them, but I want to have them all the same.
Edit: I looked up which cars were supposed to be included in the Top Gear pack, and I don't seem to have any of them.
As a test, I went to the auction house, searched for Mercedez-Benz and scrolled down a bit until I found an "Unknown Car". I tried to select it and the game promptly crashed. Fantastic.

Silly DLC issues aside, I'm pretty impressed with this game.
I've played through a gazzillion seasons on FM3 ever since it came out, initially with the shitty Xbox wheel and then the controller.
I just recently caved in and bought the Fanatec 911 Turbo S with clubsport pedals and Rennsport stand.
All I can say is fucking WOW!
What an absolute difference these wheels and pedals make to an already awesome experience. I can't believe I wasted all that time with a fucking gamepad when this feeling was there to be had.
I've played PC sims and GT with a G25 which was great. But the Fanatec offering is in a league of it's own imo.
Anyway, if anyone wants an exhilirating experience with Forza, I really suggest you man the fuck up, tell your wife that YOU are the king of the castle, Lord of the manor and you WILL be buying the Fanatec setup...now!

I really want to post a long rant about the fact that I hate owning the 'Ultimate' edition of the game and yet I still have fucking padlocks and prompts to pay for shit in my game.
Unfortunately though, I coughed up for the RS500 Sierra, dropped an RS200 engine and AWD in there and I'm as happy as a pig in shit. Rant defused but, Turn10, that shit really isn't cool. It doesn't make me want to purchase the extra cars, it makes me feel like I'm being blackmailed. I don't want to see a single padlock in Forza 4.
But damn, that Sierra is fun. I've a RWD V8 one in XR4i trim that I adore too. Now give me a padlock with a Mk2 Escort behind it!

DLC cars are only locked in the career mode, you can go to free play and use them as stock when ever you like, just have to buy them if you want to tune it. It worked the same in forza 2 but not as expensive as some car's here.
*edit* thinking about it they could have done a really sweet method of unlocking dlc cars for free, have each car come with a set goal like 3 laps laguna TT in under par time = free car for your garage, once only.

The Veyron in the S-Class career races is a fucking piece of shit.
Easy enough to beat on some of the tighter tracks but on most of the races there are lots of highspeed sections it pulls away. Horsepower is pretty much double the next closest cars.
I could always use the Veyron myself to beat it but the car handles like shit.

Bought the RS500 and thats one fun little car. Its so incredibly light and the fact that its RWD is awesome, great exhaust note to. Though I am considering switching it to AWD.....
This game is still amazing, I'll be playing it up until F4 is released. I hope more DLC comes out for it though.
