These games almost always score in the mid-to-high 80’s after the dust settles. I’ve personally always enjoyed the Horizon series more but I hope this turns out to be incredible.

Forza Motorsport 1 got 92
Forza Motorsport 2 got 90
Forza Motorsport 3 got 92
Forza Motorsport 4 got 91
Forza Motorsport 5 got 79 - It deserved much lower.
Forza Motorsport 6 got 87
Forza Motorsport 7 got 86

Were you thinking of another franchise cuz FM has more 90+s than 80s.

Forza Motorsport Review - This is not a sim racer. This is a Car RPG.

Score 8.5/10

PC Specs: 4090 RTX, Ryzen 9 7950X, 64 GB DDR5 Ram

Main Issues - Strange Car Leveling System, 60 FPS Locked in Multiplayer on PC + some other minor issues
Pros - Feels amazing to drive, great visuals, phenomenal sound/audio design, good multiplayer

The 20 Minute video goes into greater detail and explains everything that is wrong with the car leveling system alongside other minor annoyances. Of course positives are also discussed. The game is reviewed from a perspective of someone who have never played a Forza Motorsport game but has played Forza Horizon (yes I am well aware they are very different games by different devs, and I make sure to clarify that in the review.

A good review. Exactly from someone which seems to be the target audience for Forza Motorsport. They somehow dont want to cater the sim racing fan and also focus on controller support. Sounds good so far.

It went all downhill after FM4. The build up from 1-4 was great. 4-7 was a bit of hit and miss, which shows in the review scores.

This review doesn't really read/watch like an 8.5/10 review. I'm probably oversimplifying but it sounded like "I don't like this this this this and this... but it looks and sounds nice so 8.5 out of 10".

The reviewer says they aren't really big on semi-sim racers so maybe he just didn't do the game justice or something.

Also specifically from the footage provided, two major negatives stuck out to me:

1) Especially around the start, lots of cars clipping through each other. So much for the "new physics engine".
2) What is with the exact same DUUUNNN" sound for every single car-to-car collision regardless of how hard the collision is or where the collision occurs on the respective cars?

Ehh I'd beg to disagree. I gave very clearly reasons to why I didnt like something and explained it assuming you watch the full video. If you did not watch the video review then you wouldn't understand why I gave the score that I did.

1.5 points were taken away due to poor design choices with the car leveling and some other minor stuff. Everything in the game is basically pretty good with the exception of that.

For me it was between a 9 or a 8.5 but the 9 was too generous for how the review was written/sounded. 8 would of been too low and we do not do 8.3s or anything like that.

Thanks for the kind comments! Did you watch the review or read it?

This is the reason why 95% of racing game reviews (outside of Mario Card or NFS) are useless. Most people are not into simcade or simracing. And most publications don't care to have a competent reviewer for this genre.

The best practice would be to test the game yourself or find a youtuber that aligns with your expectations for a sim-title.

'We Have A Product For People Who Want To Play Best Forza Motorsport, It's Called Xbox 360'

I think I'll play some more FM4 tonight.
I'm still pissed that FM4 didn't become a backwards compatible game, my X360 is long gone and I won't buy a new (used) one just to go back to 1 game.

Also, the career mode in FM8 having only ~100 races is unacceptable. You can't introduce a super short career mode for launch to have an excuse to keep adding more content and events.

This is what I did. I think I paid around 40-50 EUR for console with like a dozen games, including FM3 and FM4.

So worth it.

And after listening to 2 reviews, it sounds like FM3/4 are way superior racing games compared to the new entry. I'm still getting it just because it's Forza but yeah, I'm not very enthusiastic about it...

Hmm OK in that case maybe your voice/tone just didn't sound as excited/enthusiastic as I was expecting for a supposed 8.5/10 game.

I had to check the only review site I can trust for the real score.
XboxEra gave it a 9.0/10
Only 0.5/10 better than Redfall
High praise.

Seriously though, the reviews coming in are great. Well done devs.

Edit: My post was more specifically mocking XboxEra that when they give great scores to mid games, it devalues when they give a great game a great score.

GAAS, LADIES AND GENTS... GAAS. Compare it to FM4:

10 seasons for world tour mode with each Season having more races than the last. The last season has 27 races. After that you have event list mode which has over 300 events with a different amount of races for each event. There is probably close to 1000 races in all.

that was not mine voice. We have a voice narrator here at Gaming Instincts who reads the scripts, you could see the credits at the start of the video of who is responsible for what. I am the website owner, author and the video editor.

I watched the video. One point you could improve on, would be your voice recording sound. It sounded a bit hollow, hard to describe. And I would have liked to hear more about how good the netcode worked. FM7 release had huge network issues.
Wasn't mine voice. We have a dedicated voice narrator, his name is Sam Lee and it's said so in the credits at the start of the video. At the start of the video he even mentions he is speaking for me if you listen closely. I am just the owner of the site, author of the review and the video editor. The reason why he sounded hollow is unfortunately because he got sick this week and was stuck in the house, his voice is not in the best condition sadly. I can still pass the feedback, but I am pretty sure that's why it came off that way.

Yep, if I wasn't a huge fan of the Motorsport series AND hungry for a new title after such a long break I'd just wait a year or two to have more content at the beginning.

So good but not great, what I kind of expected.
Looking for a GT like game for PC so may check this out if it hits a sale soon enough.

How gyro steering on stem input?

So far the first sim racer point of view I see. Seems like it going be fun doing some online racing for sure down the road. Seems to me, if you a console racer. Always wanted to some what experience iracing or acc online racing. This bout close you gonna get.

So it's basically GT Sport content-wise with some weird choices like car progression and other minor annoyances. NOw waiting for guys like SuperGT to chime in about the most important thing: car handling.

Not a flop by any stretch, but like with every recent Xbox releases, it's not screaming of greatness. Got my PC copy w/o early access, this is the platform wehre the game would shine, IMO.

Based on the few reviews I've watched so far, most of the complaints are about:
  • Car RPG elements and progression
  • AI
  • Tire physics
  • Lack of tracks
  • Damage system
  • Career mode
  • Audio and sound design
It's ironic because these are some of the things that were supposed to be the biggest improvements in this game because of being (1) next-gen, (2) built from the ground up, and (3) six years of development time.

Handing has been generally praised though.

Handling and driving itself is very good from what I've played.

I wouldn't even say ACC since that requires LFM to get it to the level of iracing when it comes to the ranking systems and related organisation.

If you're on console the only options are GT7 and now FM if you want an iracing-lite (I say "lite" because the number of different race series and events that iracing has is on a different level, there's also a robust appeals and reporting system) experience across the two different consoles.

They look to have done a good job in getting the correct ranking systems in place, will be interesting to see if they're effective in sorting players into the correct "hats" in the long run. Considering how long they've been beta/apha testing the system in the background I'd be surprised if there are any major issues with it.

Artificial Intelligence

It should be noted that the new AI is not great, even on higher levels. I’ve seen some pretty dim behaviour, from braking off a grid start instead of moving to one side to carry the speed past, to just straight driving into a car at the side of the track.

The overwhelming majority of my single-player races so far have seen the lead AI streak off at unmatchable speeds after the first sector of the first lap (as if trying to match a set lap time, without regard for the standing start) before taking a more reasonable pace for the rest of the race and being able to be reeled in. For the most part the rest of the cars may as well not have been there.

Same old Forza shite then. I'm never surprised at Turn 10's overpromising and under-delivering, but I'm always disappointed.

The above review reads like a 6/10 throughout, but they give it an 8 for some reason.
