Fox and Friends: Marvel's new Captain America: Its a plot to target conservatives"

“They should do a comic book on the opposite,” co-host Health Childers offered. “The people who are working the border to keep us safe.”

They had one, Nathan Edmondson's The Punisher.

Other great lines:

  • The cops mean well. But this is war. And someone else said the only crime in war is to lose.
  • A rehabilitated criminal is a criminal who got a trip to a motel with three free meals a day for his crime.
  • Some people think criminals just make mistakes. They don’t realize that these men have made a choice, over and over again. They’re not here to pay for their crimes. They’re here because they’re CRIMINALS.
  • The police do not protect. They do not prevent. They can’t be there before the gun is fired, they can only chase the thug who fired it. Only a FOOL puts his safety in someone else’s hands. Only a fool expects that the authorities can make him safe.
  • Rehabilitation. What a joke. They’re animals. They don’t deserve to be treated as people anymore.

It was like Blue Bloods the comic.

Book kicked ass. Great characterization on Sam's part.
Hmm? How else would you criticize the fervent anti-immigrant mentality in American society in a Captain America series? Would you rather they didn't bother at all?

They haven't even done that. They dragged out the wacky racist punching bags Cap has had for decades for a quick action scene to close the issue.

Always hated the response you generally see to the conservative backlash. "We don't mean to intend anything political". It's such bullshit. Your own views are going to come through when were talking about super heroes fighting evil. It is pretty fucking hard to not target conservators when their ideology is so often cartoon evil. Assuming there is even a story here to begin with. Haven't read the issue.

makes sense. captain america has been cowtowing to these pussy left wing politicians for far too long. when will the liberal media, including marvel comics, stop trying to destroy good-hearted family values that made america the country it is. the founding fathers would be ashamed of this piece of garbage and now the chickens have come home to roost. i only have faith in true-hearted patriots like decker

Decker is one of my favorite franchises now. I'm still enraged about that Gregg Turkington Decker 3 horseshit.

Decker 3 is a disgrace and an insult to the On Cinema Family. If you're a Gregghead don't even bother quoting me because I'm not interested.

I'd rather see stories of the end result of poor decisions. Interstellar for example doesn't try to preach about global warming to us, but instead shows us a future where the planet is not very nice for us anymore and what exactly that would mean.

Likewise, a Captain America storyline where a comic-book type wall has been built and immigrants deported and the results - food is scarcer, there aren't enough workers for low paying jobs, other countries impose sanctions and tariffs against us, the economy collapses, etc would be really interesting, at least to me. Show the consequences of poor thought, not the fight against the thoughts.

They disagree with the comparison. When conservatives compare healthcare and a social safety net to communist Russia and China, liberals disagree. Some disagree coherently, others... less so.

"Someone wrote a fictional version of the KKK that agrees with you" isn't a compelling argument. It's a strawman.

They made the comparison on their own. They have no one to blame for comparing their views to the fictional KKK but themselves.

The unedited first sentence of the article is, and I quote:

The hosts of Fox & Friends asserted over the weekend that Marvel’s Captain America had declared war on conservatives because a recent comic book story line had the superhero battling white supremacists.

And I can't stop laughing.

It's not a story about illegal immigration.

Sam just needed a face to punch for a fight scene, so they punched the racist fanatic goons that have been around for many years for that purpose.

Wow, look at all those angry people who don't read comic books complaining about comic books.

i don't know what's funnier to me, the idea that they've identified with white supremecists or the idea that they'd get caught up on comic minutea solely to find something to be offended by

Tired of outrage culture and seeing things that arent there, just look how the brought up Captain America's race like it was a big deal, I mean, what does race has to do with it? Bunch of race baiters I tell ya, this proffesional outrage people and their hugboxes are killing the spirit of that once great nation.

Making Sam finally be Cap full time is great, best thing they've done since making Bucky Cap.

Speaking of that.

MAKE BUCKY AWESOME AGAIN. LET BRUBAKER WRITE HIS BOOK.

everything is an attack on conservatives it seems

Fox have a persecution complex so big it's visible from outer space.

It's a known fact that the mainstream media is operated exclusively by liberals, therefore logic would dictate that literally everything they produce is inherently anti-conservative in nature.

Context is key when quoting quote memes.

All those people who identify with a comic villain's notion that white supremacy is a reasonable immigration policy. Stunning.

Bucky's last book sold poorly so I think he's on a break.

I haven't picked up a big 2 book in 3 years so I honestly have no idea what's what other than major stuff anymore.

That sucks. Bucky Cap was such a good run.

OT: I feel like the good people of Fox Newz have never actually read a Captain America comic in their lives. Cap has always been about doing what you morally believe represents the American ideal, not sugarcoat things when there's something wrong with your country. I mean FFS Steve literally punches the president in the face like, 3 different times.

Captain America has been punching racist asshats for 60 years.

This isn't new for Cap. The first issue of the original book had him punching out Hitler on the cover and was extremely controversial.

Yeah, there's a story about how some nazi sympathizers threatened Jack Kirby, Joe Simon and the rest of the Captain America creative team because of it. Jim Simon, Joe Simon's son, said that they even had some police guarding their office.

Captain America has always been political, it's just that "Hitler is an asshole that needs to be punched/kicked/killed" is not controversial anymore so no one remembers it.

Are you saying that Fox News are current-day nazi sympathizers?

Only that the "we don't want politics in our comic books" in some comments don't make sense when you're talking about Captain America. I don't watch Fox News and I'm not american so I don't know much about them :p
