Honestly, I think we're all jumping the gun a little bit.

Just because Daredevil sucked, Fantastic Four sucked, Elektra sucked, X-Men: The Last Stand sucked, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer sucked, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine sucked doesn't mean we shouldn't give Fox a chance.

It's the OT's version of "Wait until ____."

Yup, this is in production along with Fox's Silver Surfer spinoff and Magneto spinoff.

I thought the Silver Surfer movie was dead in the water since Fox decided to reboot Fantastic Four?

Silver Surfer spinoff was dead before it was even announced (along with Magneto)

You can throw Deadpool into that list.

I don't know the difference is Wolverine/X-men did well.
Did Fantastic Four 2 do well?

If it actually goes off like they say it will, then I want it like crazy.

I kind of doubt they'll allow that to happen, though.

Hey hey! I found the Fantastic 4 movies very enjoyable. Wolverine wasn't bad either.

I enjoyed the first FF in the theater. Repeated viewings left it pretty bland. The FF movies are mediocre, where as Elektra is just complete ass.

I liked Johnny and Ben in the FF movies. Great casting. Their scenes were usually good.

If FF2 was actually a big hit, you would have seen a Silver Surfer movie this summer, but it wasn't. A Deadpool spinoff will almost definitely happen.

Keep in mind: Fox brought us X2: X-Men United

With a good script, Deadpool can be saved, hopefully, a good Gambit role follows. Tim Riggins was great, but he was barely in XMO:W. More Gambit please!

The thing with Fox is unless your a strong director who has some pull you'll get trampled on. Looking at the X Men franchise since a strong prescene like Singer left we have had hollywood mercenary Brett Ratner who's known for delivering day and date releases with little to no fuss over shitty scripts and Gavin Hood who from his previous films is a good director but Fox have taken his manhood.

What you need is the setup like Michael Bay has with Transformers Uncle Speilberg makes sure no execs fuck with the Bayman and everyones happy

I hope when Fox's Marvel license expires, Warner Bros. picks it up and makes a movie "X-Men: Done right".

The first 2 X-Men movies were good, the third was enjoyable, Wolverine was enjoyable, but all in all, there was so much potential that didn't go into the movies, all 4 of them.

A Deadpool without a completely fucked up irradiated hideous face goes against the whole point of his character.

How is it that Fox owns the rights to all the X-Men spin offs and other things rather than just the licenses Marvel offloaded onto them? I'd like to look at the actual deal itself in detail. Marvels been making some fantastic movie and cartoon products recently that its a crying shame they'll never get the chance to translate that success with some of their most beloved franchises to the big screen.

Thank god they held onto the Avengers.

Marvel's a player in the movie business now when the movie license expires they're going to keep it.

The bizarre terms of them selling the licenses of X-Men, Spider-Man et al to Fox and Sony was the completely ill-advised "if you still make movies, you can keep it". I can;t remember what the period of inactivity was deemed the cut off point, so if someone could post that please.

So basically as long as these companies still make money from these films and continue making them with some regularity they can keep them forever. I know Marvel were looking at bleak times ahead when they signed, but fuck me if that isn't one of the worst 'deals' penned in entertainment history.

I am also confused as to how Deadpool would have been signed over unless the deal was even more shitacular with a "and own every spin off character's rights too" section -____-

He was into a post credit easter egg? I saw the movie tonight and only saw the 1st end credit bit with ... what's his name. Someone post a breakdown of what the easter egg was.

As long as Fox keeps making movies, the liscense will never expire. Give it up, people.
Oh ye of little faith, you clearly haven't heard of the A-Team, or quite possibly G.I. Joe. Either would be fine choices, and could get the job done.

Makes me glad I bought into this film on HSX yesterday before Fox officially confirmed it. I've already almost doubled my fake money :)

Fox Is milking their Marvel license before it runs out:lol

It never runs out.....

They HAVE to milk it to keep it though. They stop using it... i reverts back to Marvel. So Fox ALWAYS has to have a property in some sort of development or the rights to said character group goes back to Marvel.

I must be in the minority... I LIKED (really liked) Daredevil (especially the directors cut)

The most we can hope for is that Rothman gets replaced with an exec who actually knows how to handle a franchise.

Anyway, this was seemingly greenlit in response to Wolverine's opening weekend; I wonder whether Fox will kill it if the film drops over 60% in its second weekend.

I don't get it, who made IronMan and why can't they get the same team to do all of Marvel's movies?!

Marvel Studios...distributed by Paramount.

The problem is the rights to Fantastic Four, X-men and Daredevil (and ALL related characters) were snagged up by Fox when Marvel was near death from bankruptcy.

It was thought that Marvel was going to die anyway, so why not have a clause in the contracts to keep the characters alive if they continue producing movies.

Sony has the same thing with Spider-man

I hope it's the awesome ninja Deadpool and not the horrible Deadpool at the end of Wolverine.
Yeah this. Really liked his character. I mean, the Deadpool at the end was just a controlled robot, not even an actual "character" anymore. So they can't really make a movie only featuring him right?

You mean pre Deadpool Wade Wilson? He's full body scarred from head to toe in the comics. :lol

Deadpool wouldn't be the same if he didn't have a disfigured face. That being said, dude needs a mouth.

hmm... maybe i should have put quotations around "handsome" to avoid said confusion. my mistake.

OOh! Ohhh! I know!

Weapon XI grows a new mute head, and the original head grows a new body! Then Deadpool can face off against The Dead Pool for an entire movie!!!!!

what the hell is wrong with you? someone could be trying to make a script from that shitty idea as we speak.

as much as i want a deadpool movie, im afraid for the future of the series. i know theres a good chance tasky and nate might get some sort of mention in the movie, but i hope that they leave agent x untouched. im also a bit curious as to how they plan on doing wades past, or whether they plan on taking the joker route from the dark knight

If you watch the movie without trying to find every mistake or unlikely situation or wrong comic reference, there's a movie that is really enjoyable.

Most people have been telling me "You'll only like it if you've read the comics".

But anyway, a Deadpool movie, huh? Kind of do not want, but I'm curious as to what the results would be. Probably terrible, but there's always the small chance it'll be pretty decent.

Search for the term 'Wolverine' on Twitter and y'all see that Durden is right. Most people are enjoying it including my own not-into-comics cousin and his not-nerdy-all wife. Sitting at Denny's last night they surprised me by saying, "Let's go see Wolverine on Friday. We heard its a really good movie."

My reaction:

count me in for "DO WANT." Who would even be DP's antagonist though, T-ray?

crosses fingers for Udon version of Taskmaster... I think

How can they be enjoying it if they haven't even seen it?

A lot of shitty movies can seem great if you're not paying attention to them.

Ain't that the truth? I really enjoyed X-Men 3 the first time I saw it.

I thought Wolverine was pretty good. Way better than X-Men 3 and both Fantastic Four movies (and goes without saying it's better than Electra, Daredevil and crap like that).

heh heh heh heh.. and not going for the ugly old ass version to make him appear more like a villain? this is fox were talking about here.....
though im with you on that, i would rather the badass udon version

Fresh off the muscular performance of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" at the boxoffice, Fox has thrown into development a spinoff featuring Deadpool, the wise-cracking mercenary played in the film by Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds is attached to reprise the character for what for now is simply being called "Deadpool." Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios would act as producers.

Deadpool is known as "the merc with a mouth," a character that under Reynolds lived up to his billing in "Wolverine" until the end, when the movie deviated from the comic book persona, imbuing him with several superpowers and sewing his mouth shut.

It is understood that Reynolds would regain the ability to mouth off, with the movie going back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall. The character also was disfigured in "Wolverine," though it's unclear at this time how much the studio would want to mess with Reynolds' handsome mug.

The project is out to writers.

Fox considered a "Deadpool" spinoff early in "Wolverine's" development process, which is why it cast Reynolds. The actor was brought back in the month before the movie's release to shoot one of two "Easter egg" scenes that appeared after the end credits

Could it be that Fox is allowing Marvel Studios input on this thing or is this normal to have them credited as producers?

Even if Fox isn't making money with X-Men, they'll still find a way to hang onto the franchise just in case it will become profitable again someday. They did it with Fantastic Four; all they have to do is make a shitty direct-to-video flick for no money and the contract will still renew.

We will never see a non-Fox X-Men movie in our lifetimes. There is zero chance. The one event that could cause the X-Men to land somewhere else would be the death of Fox. That's it.

I like comic books about comic books more then I like comic books Deadpool plays into that.
Fox wont under stand breaking the 4th wall or comedy (a human trait).
Unless a funny ballsy Wrighter Dirctor is aloud free run this will megasuck.
