Most people have been telling me "You'll only like it if you've read the comics".

But anyway, a Deadpool movie, huh? Kind of do not want, but I'm curious as to what the results would be. Probably terrible, but there's always the small chance it'll be pretty decent.

Honestly I think comic fans would like it the least, seeing as it does a pretty poor job of doing the characters justice. I've talked with a decent amount of non comic book fans who enjoyed it. Heck I 'enjoyed it', souless marketting vehicle that it is.

Also, keep in mind folks that the OP news says that Deadpool for the movie will be going back to him roots away from the Weapon XI configuration. That's not hard, his other powers 'burn out', wham bam.

Also, marvel Studios are listed as producers? That's 'encouraging' but could ultimately be lip service.

I'd imagine the attempts at humour - which Deadpool is all about - would just come across as awkward. It'd be like Iron Man but with no Robert Downey Jr.

Their attempts at humor will probably the the dark sociopath slant we saw from Wade Wilson during the elivator sequence, with a bit of a lighter/more manic glib to it. Side note, my theater was about quarter full, and apparently most of the people were Deadpool fans since his Wade Wilson scenes got huge laughs from the audience, and someone actually started clapping after the 'they're all dead' sequence. There were tons of murmmers of 'Deadpool!' etc when Wade was first shown.

on Yahoo! movies it says Deadpool has the ability to absorb other dead or captured mutants powers...

I must have missed all the "sociopath" hidden between the fart gags and "comedy" a 5 year old would role there eyes.

The comment was in keeping with his character. Let's put this in perspective: one fart joke, when nearly every line spoken was a form of glib commentary flavored by his emotionless expressions and detachment during all those scenes, hence 'dark sociopath' which you seem to have missed in between chosing to be offended by him making a fart joke. Maybe the word usage is slightly off - but the one time Wade smiled in the movie was when he was about to kill presumably innocent people in Africa. That sort of thing isn't keeping with his character, but I have faith his own movie will have to necessary ajustments.

It better be the funny Deadpool we all know and love...not
the one with no mouth deadpool in the wolverine movie

"It is understood that Reynolds would regain the ability to mouth off, with the movie going back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall. "

Deadpool has had many different shades and variations, I doubt we'll see him riding a Deadppol themed vehicle or anything like that, but so far the news is promising.

Going back to MTV, actor Ryan Reynolds told the network about his involvement in developing the property. "I get to be the authentication police, in a weird way," he said. "To their credit -- the studio's credit -- they want to make an authentic 'Deadpool' movie; they want to make it as close to the source material as possible. He's going to be the Merc with the Mouth, [we're going to give] all those answers that everyone wants. He's going to have the scarred-up face, he's going to be in the suit — and, it's going to be incredible."

And in a recent IGN interview, he admitted, obviously holding back anger at the people who made the decisions, that XMO: W's Deadpool was not the one from the comics and not what people wanted to see.

So those two quotes together, I'm going to get my hopes a little higher than I had previously.

In Ryan Reynolds I trust.

The man obviously knows what he's doing. I mean...he has been inside of Scarlett Johansen.

Marvel is going all wrong with this Fox affiliation. Wolverine was not what it should have been. Its like Fox is the bargain bin movie studio. The one that'll churn out the fastest movie for Marvel's buck.

reynolds does seem to know his shit. ill give him the benefit of the doubt. i just hope they dont make his movie like origins and put all of his collected allies and enemies in one movie....

It's amazing how much like Marvel Fox is. Doesn't work? Ret-con it. Immediately if necessary. I don't know why these two companies couldn't get along better - they're like mirror images of one another.

And no, don't want. I don't trust Fox for shit, much less a proper Deadpool movie.

Deadpool is awesome. Fox is not. Fox's representation of Deadpool is awful. I will deffinately pass.

We don't know what they are doing with him. I bet they'll do this shit up right. They heard fans bitch about DP in Wolverine, and they'll adjust it accordingly. Quite honestly, an accurate portrayal of DP would make the movie grossly entertaining. Don't add depth... he's just a crazy asshole who won't shut the fuck up. Go with it.

Deadpool is the only marvel comic I follow right now, but I won't get my hopes up for an even semi-enjoyable movie. I wonder if they will try to make him a character that breaks the fourth wall or have inner dialogue (yellow boxes).

IF fox was smart, they'd make the Deadpool movie like a mocumentary/documentary, where he knows there's people following him around, allowing him to speak directly to the audience.

Sort of a cloverfield meets the office.

promising, but too early.

Fox could pull a fast one during its last 2 months and start sticking its fingers

Yeah, I remember reading they visited the set near the end and had them repaint it? Why? It was too dark -- Fox wanted it brighter.

That's not breaking the fourth wall. There is no fourth wall!

I really really hope they don't fuck this one up.
Don't worry, it's Fox, they'll find a way to screw it up somehow.

Didn't Reynolds say the same crap about his role in Wolverine? Whatever.
Basically. I learned not to listen to any of the actors/directors anymore when it comes to dealing with Fox, in regards to adaptions. It's always lies and slander, always.
