Ok fellow GAF’ers as most of you will know an Australian hacked GAF a month or so ago and as a response all new Australian members were blocked from joining.

This policy is a new low in racial standards equality on gaming forums on the internet and as far as I know is still in existence.

So know that you are outraged after reading this you must be thinking, what can I as a single forum poster do?

1. Well as a start place the words

Free Australia

At the bottom of your posts for the next week.

2. Show your support in this thread.

As a community the GAF Australians are outraged and have openly condemned grubdog’s actions.

Also there are rumors of a “free Australia” concert to raise awareness including performances by U2, Michael Jackson, Peter Andre and Russell Crowe’s band (forty odd foot of grunt).

Cerris also did some research on Australia during one of our Halo 2 live games

- It starts with A
- It is a continent

I support the cause though, it is a little extreme to have banned a whole continent from taking part here due to one person's actions.

This thread is a joke (when isn't it with you DTM??) and possibly in the wrong end of town, but I will add this which I found hilarious.

My 11 year old brother's WoW account has been suspended for 72 hours due to saying this in General chat;

"go get fucked by your dada early today you american cockbreath"

As an Australian it made me feel a bit sick to see that policy put in place. Seems very immature and bigoted to assume all people from a country aren't to be trusted because of the actions of one. Is grubdog white? Maybe white people should be banned from the forum. Is he male? Ban men. etc. In the end I just decided it was a policy put in place out of humour - I hope that's all it is. Probably time to end the joke though eh?

Wrong.

Considering a continent is a large continuous land mass, that would exclude New Zealand and PNG, or any of the other islands.

From my understanding, GAF wasn't hacked, but rather, some admin/mod had created an easily guessable password which allowed said person to 'access' his account. My guess is probably some retardedly obvious password like Sonyrules or PSProcks or GOD.

In anycase, Once he had control of the mod/admin account, he banned other admins and started to ban and delete people's accounts, mainly from the anti-Nintendo crowd, his motivaitons will become clear in the next few paragraphs.

I thought the whole incident and GAF's subsequent over-reaction such as banning all new Aussie users and putting Drinky in charge to 'stick it' to the Nintendo fans here just made things even funnier. Regardless of what many people think of the incident, Grubdog did raise an important issue, and that was simply a dysfunctional GAF mods and leadership that showed blatant biased and just ran around like fanboys with a big stick.

Things have calmed down now and the board is back to its old ways, but there was a time when mods threatend a ban when people disagreed with them, mods/admins would troll threads and again use their immunity to advance their bias and threaten to ban people when they disagreed with a point or dared to point out a troll attempt by a certain 'bulletproof' member. And for the most part, said offenders targeted Nintendo and its fans posting here in particular, which explains Grubdog's targeted attacks.

I actually got about 3 private messages from concerned posters when I questioned why a certain poster, who was clearly trolling and making flame bait threads wasn't being dealt with. People told me the troll was bulletproof and that I could get banned simply by asking the right questions. That incident left a bad taste in my mouth and I resented it, so when the whole incident of the hack occured, I found some of his targets to be deserving. Although plenty of innocent fanboys got hit as well, which I don't approve. Overall though, it was hilarious, everything about it was just funny. From said hacker's actions, the response and the fan reaction, most were shocked but many also understood why.

The rhetorical 'this isn't a democracy' response from the admin was rather pathetic as well. Since no forum I've posted or moderated have been democracies, but at least most had a modicum of accountability and consistent rules.

In anycase, that's my rant for the day. Things are better now though. Much much better.

I'm fine as long as they don't ban everyone from Austria. Seems to be a common mistake over in the States to confuse Austria with Australia :D
