I've tried just about every free A.I image generator and they're all way to strict with what image you can create. I've just about given up.
For example yesterday I was trying desperately to get the following images created.
"Cute anime hamster gets kicked in the testicles by gimp wearing steeltoe cap boots, in a BDSM dungeon theme setting."
"Cute anime hamster with grimaced face, straining to defecate multi coloured Lego bricks."
The A.I image creators that would comply just made a cute anime hamster in a daft pose. I was at this for fucking hours trying to battle shoddy algorithms!

That's ultimately the main issue I have with AI images. They can be great fun, but imo they lack nuance and thus just don't seem that interesting. All you're ever going to do is explaining a concept to a machine of which it will create a visual rendition, while with a "real image" the artist would put a lot of thought into stuff like for example the facial expression of a character, or in what way the brown should frown or whatever. That's creativity, that's interesting. Describing that to a machine is something inherently different.
But as I said, they're great fun and for what they lack in nuance, they make up for in accessibility. Some of the stuff people come up with is truly hilarious, especially with videos now coming into the mix. Using Stable Diffusion certainly reinforced my hope that one day I finally pick up drawing. Drawing on an iPad is actually great fun for casuals/beginners, it's sooooo much less agonizing and kinda instantly rewarding than learning to draw on paper from scratch (though obviously that is the right way to do it)
I do wonder if at some point someone might be able to come up with a way in image creation to close that gap I've talked about. Just because I don't know what it would look like doesn't mean someone much smarter won't be able to come up with a solution for it.
