so if i buy from the web-site; I get two downloads? can either of them be linked to steam? can both? can both be mac downloads? I'm a little unsure as the website doesn't really specify.

Omroth: both can be linked to steam, both can be mac or pc, it's literally two copies of the game

Hope that helps

Posting on Moobs demand.

Think I should buy this game, but I'm concerned I will get no work done if I do. What to do, what to do...

It lends itself pretty well to short bursts of play... well, it should, but I've played about 6 hours over 2 days so far which is a lot for me.

Yeah, gotta say FS lends itself very well to playing whilst checking your emails and whatnot in the morning before work. Plot your next move, upload, BAM. All you need to do. Have one game on the go or many, it's all good stuff.

We really shouldn't forget the single player, because that's one hell of a fine campaign. Terrifically written and a very smart upswing in difficulty, so you're always doing something new and exciting + being challenged.

I bought this game a week ago, and I've got to say that it's fantastic. It's one of the best releases of the year for me, and it's chock-full of content.

Highly recommended for fans of tactics games like JA2, XCOM, etc.

Also I'm thinking of putting together a little gaf tournament - maybe with the winner getting something on steam at the end of it all? Obviously it wouldn't be for a while until we had enough people to participate - but this game is all about the competition.... and the banter.

Double post - it's out on steam - buy it.

Quick.. problem though - the soundtrack version is CHEAPER than the version I bought on the official website without the soundtrack. I'm being PUNISHED for being an early adopter!

thanks for the laugh

at the opportune moment, i'm likely going to make a thread detailing why everyone with even the faintest of tactical urges in their cerebrum should have this game sitting on their desktop. FS was a lock for me based purely on mechanical concept, but i never suspected the kind of genius behind how they've implemented the multiplayer with its totally seamless analogue between dedicated and casual play.

Looking forward to that thread, Ghst! You hold sway around these parts, so the more exposure (with that classic acerbic goodness we've come to know and love), the better.

I agree, from the get-go, it was a lock. So flexible, so many opportunities, all anchored by a tight, Spartan interface and logical, easy-to-understand mechanics. Brilliant. Mode7 are gods. They're top-tier devs in my eyes.

Hey, bought it last night, it's definitely an awesome game, just started the campaign this morning, had a few close calls, but victory on both games.

If anyone wants to add me, username is ChaoticEko. (You can add me to the OP as well!)

I'll add you now - I'm currently in a game with someone who takes about an hour per turn and he's here the whole time. He's clearly a tactical genius.

Edit

Game OVER on turn 3. Come at me GAF - I'm ready.

I don't really understand what this game is. I'm interested in buying, buy not enough to pull the trigger quite yet.

Get on that thread, ghst!

Welp. I hit the buy button. Damn you, Steam Wallet.

I am so bad at this, but I'm still enjoying it.

Yeah, same here. I've still not found a good explanatory video or anything. I think I get it, but I want to make sure before pulling the trigger.

It's a tactical shooter ala X-Com/Jagged Alliance except that you and your opponent plan your moves at the same time and then they execute simultaneously.

Sort of like a 2 player plan mode from old school Rainbow 6.

Man, I love this gameplay. Its pretty much the perfect blend of tactics with a quick turn around. Even if you mess up badly one turn, the next game isn't that far off.

I'd love to play this game, but it keeps hard locking on me before I can even create an account :/ Sent an email off to the developers, hopefully they'll respond soon.

Here's a dumb question... How do you move onto the next mission after you win in the campaign mode? So far the only way I've been able to do it is quit to the main menu then resume the campaign which is clearly wrong but I don't see any "next mission" button.

First click on the "Results" button (same position as the "Prime" button), then click on "Next".

my nick is the same as on gaf, but I wanna lube myself up a little with the campaign before I go get tore up online.

I want everyone to know, that I consider this game to be awesome! I've been enjoying playing it so much. I'll probably make my own review for it.

And if you want to play - name is the same as here.

Brobzoid and The_Player, consider yourselves added to the list and, therefore, fair game!

I just logged in to check a few turns, and it's so heartening to see over 200 players logged in. I can remember days last year where I'd be the only one on the server some nights. Saved, mind you, by the fact you can challenge offline friends.

A few questions from someone really interested in this but still not entirely sure of what the game actually is..

You can have several games running simultaniously, right? Do you have a timer before you have to complete your next move? If you have completed your move but your opponent has not, how do you know when he completes it?

Or am i completely wrong? Can you only play one game at a time and wait for your opponent to complete his turn?

Some answers:

- Yep, you can have as many games running as you like.
- No timer in any mode, online or campaign.
- If you're playing against a person who is also online, the next turn occurs when both players have submitted their turn. If you're playing against someone who is offline, or simply asynchronously, you'll get an email to let you know a new turn has been submitted. Once both players' turns have been made, the turn plays out. You can then make your next move, and once submitted, an email will be sent to your opponent. It's very smooth.
- Hopefully that covers your last question.

EDIT: Damn, I'm getting giddy thinking about what Ghst will offer up. His Amnesia thread was a riot, so I wonder how this one will play out!
