I haven't liked many games this year, if any, but this game is exceptional. It's original AND it works. It's smart but simple. It's clever. Love it. Thanks Mr. Humble Bundle.

Yesterday I had a 1 turn win
Today I achieved a shotgun quad kill on the second turn.
Both were mostly luck and poor play by the opponent's part but I don't care, one more and I get to call UAV and then you're all in really deep doo doo

God damn it. >:| Youtube uploading is still fucked up in-game. And I didn't save an offline replay file in case it did fuck up. NO! MY SINGLEPLAYER ROCKET DODGING AND TAKING OUT TWO UNITS WITH A SHOTGUN AND RPG DODGE TO WIN THE ROUND. NOOOOO. ;____;

So yeah, codeblue totally kicked my butt. Probably should have played a game or two prior to get back into the swing of things. I made a couple nasty mistakes in the first match, plus I was playing too defensively. Some poor shotgun play on my part, and I completely forgot to check one of the angles his shotgunner could take towards my machinegunner, which ended up costing me near the end of the match.
As for the 2nd match, the placement and each team having 2 rockets pretty much made it a game that either of us could have won/lost on the first move. Codeblue guessed correctly with his rocket placement, and I guessed wrong.
Hats off to codeblue, good luck in the next round.

Woot, bs000 gifted me the Frozen Synapse Humble Bundle that I missed so I'm gonna start the campaign now ^_^
I hope it's really good since I'm not very good in multiplayer stuff.
Btw when I tried the demo after I shut it down my GPU drivers or whatever borked, card fan went on overdrive and Windows 7 theme became unable to show transparencies, including the curved window corners which were then black, and stuff, so I had to reboot, is this an issue with the game or was it a fluke?
I hope it's really good since I'm not very good in multiplayer stuff.

Just finished the third campaign mission, the escort one, lol, feels good despite taking me more tries than it should have
And I only passed it by pure luck as on the final stretch the VIP went through a crossfire between my dudes and the AI, lol.
Btw, even though I currently have it set to that red button saying I don't want games or whatever two people have still managed to start one against me and being listed under my games, should I just hide them or what? Why can I be challenged without accepting and have them wait forever or whatever?
Is there a way to make replays focus on the shootouts and stuff like in the trailers? It doesn't look very nice to just see that zoomed out top down view.

My buddy and I were lucky enough to have Paul Taylor from Mode 7 on our podcast for a short interview this episode (no. 104), and he spoke about the game's development, the means by which is became a success financially, how he did all the sound (amazing, IMO), and a little bit about the upcoming iPad version as well. He seems like a pretty awesome dude, but unfortunately I didn't get to be on the interview due to scheduling!

I've had this game for quite a while (I imagine from some bundle I purchased) and only booted it up for the first time today to get the achievement. Even though I knew how to get the achievement, I figured I'd at least play through the tutorial to see what the game was like. I was not expecting the pure unadulterated awesomeness that followed! Wow, how have I let this game (that I've owned!) fly under the radar for so long?! I played through the first three or four missions, and am absolutely loving the game! I get a deep satisfaction watching the replay in real time when it's all over.
Shame on me for not playing this earlier! Stoopid junior...

Small issue:
I am on my awful laptop that is over 5 years old and it's my only means to try and get the achievement for the Steam holiday stuff. Unfortunately, Frozen Synapse taxes this thing way too much and makes the game chug crazy slow.
Is there a quick way to snag the achievement?

Shouldn't make much of a difference. It's turned based. It only took me one round and 3 turns to snag the cheevo.

For better performance you could try and disable ingame backgrounds and simultaneuous AI processing.
Yeah problem is it takes me like 30 seconds to even get the mouse to just click on prime it's lagging that bad on this old laptop.
I was wondering if there was any other loophole method someone may have found to getting it, since I can't actually PLAY the game to earn it.

Create a custom skirmish.
1 v 1.
Give yourself 1 machine gunner.
Give your opponent nothing.
Start match, process turn, achievement done.

So I finally managed to play a couple of games online and I really liked it (despite the fact I lost most games).
Fudge. Wish I had seen this. I managed to get it just now but with a normal Skrimish against A.I. Oh well at least it's out of the way.

Nice, good to see people still discovering the awesomeness of Frozen Synapse. Don't be afraid to take it online, either -- I'm usually not a big online guy but the multiplayer in this is really great.

Anyone else think some of the game modes are badly balanced?
I won a couple of games in disputed in an idiotic matter, and I couldn't win an hostage game in which I had clearly the advantage.

I've played alot of FS but tbh, I've mostly played the first gamemode. I don't really care about the rest.
Deathmatch is the only decent mode. But I think Hostage is the only "game mode won" achievement I have left. Other than LOL LEVEL 10/100 which I'll never get as those take forever + I don't win.
