I spent all week playing Ninja Gaiden Black offline on Series X (which it initally wouldn't let me do) and when I connected to the internet again it loaded an ancient save from the cloud and wrote over the newer save, so I have to start again. Guess what? You can't disable cloud saves

The console explicitly tells you if there's a mismatch between the cloud save and local save and you can choose which one to use, ya drunk bum.

Never had this problem on other platforms. They show you the respective dates of the saves and ask you if you want to overwrite the cloud save or not.

It's the same on xbox.

Literally did not happen. Got a message saying it was updating my save and that was it. Gone.

I didn't even know it supported local saves for OG and 360 BC games. I thought they were always cloud saves.

I’ll be honest, I fucking hate the way Xbox handles cloud saves. Hate hate hate hate.

But yeah, cloud saves are 1 million times better on PlayStation and Nintendo. That’s right, even Nintendo switch online managed to make cloud saves work properly, but Xbox wants to do everything for you, and fuck it up in the process. You just gotta trust your Xbox, but on PlayStation and Nintendo, you can trust but verify.

Also, it is super easy to save scum anything on Nintendo or Sony. Even save scumming Hades is a super easy on Nintendo. Try that shit on Xbox. Report your findings back here. You bout to be fucking shocked.

There's no local saves for x360 games iirc, it's always cloud saved, if you are offline it's just a cache copy that goes away.

I tested it with RE5 and you do get the prompt if there's a discrepancy between your saves. It's a large screen which pops up, takes a split second before allowing an input, and defaults to cancel, so it's impossible to mash through, let alone overwrite. This screen did not appear when loading up NGB. Maybe it's a OG Xbox game issue, I dunno. Still stinks. Fuck Xbox.

I get fed up with the constant updates. Not just for the firmware, but for every ancient god damn game I never play. Why does Discs of fucking Tron need an update?
