Not for me

Not for me
I think the Ally has sold around 600k ? This is just a very slightly revised version so maybe it might sell the same if its lucky? It is.
Look I don't get it either. People act like this is some huge market and an obvious path for everyone when in reality it's expensive and niche and these devices barely qualify as portable considering how huge and unwieldy they are. This is just one more niche device like all the other niche devices.
Literally everyone has said these are niche devices sold for profit upfront on the hardware. They're not subsidized mass market items.People act like this is some huge market and an obvious path for everyone when in reality it's expensive and niche and these devices barely qualify as portable considering how huge and unwieldy they are. Thought they'd ditched that idea? Why would you want this early version of an Xbox PC handheld when you know there's one coming that has actual Xbox compatibility built into the APU?
Oh they will be the greatest thing ever to him in about 2 yearsDefinitely not for him![]()
Thought they'd ditched that idea?
Are we sure that's still in the cards? Why would you want this early version of an Xbox PC handheld when you know there's one coming that has actual Xbox compatibility built into the APU?
All we know that's official is Sarah Bond and AMD saying they're "co-engineering silicon chips across a portfolio of devices including the next generation Xbox consoles."They did
I love paying for online play and games!Cheaper to get a ps5 with A portal

It was unofficially announced and unofficially canceled. No one has anything official on it, period. All we know is there's a portfolio of devices in the works using the AMD chip for BC.They never officially said they were making a handheld at all. It was said they were working on one and then it was said they ditched it. No one should be expecting a handheld directly from Microsoft is the point.
I think canceled isn't the right word, shelved or even as described to me a "holding pattern"It was unofficially announced and unofficially canceled. No one has anything official on it, period. All we know is there's a portfolio of devices in the works using the AMD chip for BC.

What are your thoughts on a ROG style device with their new line of custom chips?I think canceled isn't the right word, shelved or even as described to me a "holding pattern"
That said we will never see it
Phil Spencer is absolutely delusional.
Honestly I am not a huge handheld type of person as I just never even turn on my Steamdeck as its just not a fun experience for meWhat are your thoughts on a ROG style device with their new line of custom chips?
If only Valve would hint at whats next. Nothing so far.I wanted to wait for Steam Deck 2 before getting another handheld, but I might consider picking this up if it gets positive feedback and this new OS revision actually turns out to benchmark well.
And don't forget the os is gong to be basically a beta mess! No thanks. So probably $699 and $999 USD
That could be coming in 2 years or not at all, was postponed iirc, and we know nothing about it.Why would you want this early version of an Xbox PC handheld when you know there's one coming that has actual Xbox compatibility built into the APU?
Why not just buy a Rog Ally X right now for the same price instead of waiting for this xbox branded one?
I've never taken any of the 4 Switches, 1 Switch 2, 2 Steam Decks outside.I don't think I've ever seen someone use one of these PC handheld's in public
There's obviously some sort of market, but there's also a lot of people making handhelds
US Price is still a question though as that's not clear. No brainer to get the Xbox version for those looking at Rog Ally right now. Not really a huge difference in performance, but more efficient, better ergonomics, features.
Could be a while until we hear anything yet, they did say they weren't planning another one until a markedly hardware improvement were at hand. What that implies is anyones guess. Could be they're waiting for AMD to release a RDNA4 APU.If only Valve would hint at whats next. Nothing so far.
I think 100 million Switch 2's will be in hands before the Deck 2 is available.![]()
10" Android Tablet plus one of newer Bluetooth controllers! You can stream games, play emulated stuff, etc…Honestly I am not a huge handheld type of person as I just never even turn on my Steamdeck as its just not a fun experience for me
I honestly think its my size of being 6'8" with massive hands and a 7'1" wingspan I just can't find a super comfy position to play with handhelds
They seem like decent devices though
Yeah I have done a little bit of that with my 13" Ipad Pro and a dualsense controller it just loses most of that portability10" Android Tablet plus one of newer Bluetooth controllers! You can stream games, play emulated stuff, etc…

IMO, right now the best way to go if you want Windows is to get a used Ally OG for like $350ish, get expanded battery mod for $50-70 and 1TB drive (don't use SD card on this thing) for another $70ish.
I've seen a few Steam Decks but none of the other ones. I honestly even think the sales they claim are massively inflated.I don't think I've ever seen someone use one of these PC handheld's in public

"The Xbox Fullscreen Experience"The new UI is the most interesting thing. I already have Ally X so no need for this handheld, but the UI is something I'm very much interested in. I hope MS delivers a good experience for us with Windows PC handhelds.
Hammering home that this is an Xbox thing, and not a Windows gaming thing.
Actually I half expect to see that in order to launch Steam, We will need to exit out of the new gaming mode and into the full windows mode complete with extra memory requirements and desktop.
Steam games might actually run worse because of this.
That's the neat part. They can't. They are painted in a corner and we are all taking the ride. When Nintendo pulled that $80 game price tag, Xbox felt confident enough to charge the same, only to walk back. Did the switch 2 price also gave them the confidence to charge that for this, or they will come to their senses before price is officially revealed this time?
To be fair I travel loads. Planes, trains (not automobiles) and don't even see that many Switches. Which is odd considering.I've seen a few Steam Decks but none of the other ones. I honestly even think the sales they claim are massively inflated.
They're probably too large to have them with you during everyday commutes, maybe on longer journeys. The reality is that using a phone to play some games for 15-30 minutes will be way easier for many people.I don't think I've ever seen someone use one of these PC handheld's in public
