It's never answered though and only raises more questions that don't get answered intertwined with a "creations going against their creator" theme nobody asked for.

The answer is that there's no answer

Seriously tho, don't they explicitely tell
the xenomorphs are some "global sanitation" weapon that mutates and kills all organic live on any given planet - mutating plants too - which the engineers use when they want to reset the ant farm that is Earth (and surely other ant farm worlds around the universe and also against their ennemies. You drop from orbit, you wait and voilà. And yes apparently they do it for shits and giggles in Earth case...

I was more referring to why they wanted humans destroyed. 👀
She was gonna ask them but that never happened and they pull another Alien 3 on us.

yeah that was kind of dumb
It makes sense the engineer we see wants to kill them because they sentenced him to death by woking him up with the alien inside of him, but as to why they want to eradicate humanity as a whole we'll never know (and Ridley Scott neither :messenger_tears_of_joy:)

The movie was great even with the terrible story.

This video had me in tears..... the story is so damn dumb.

As if the story was the main reason why the movie sucked some major donkey balls. The acting was terrible, the visuals, the cameos, the greenscreen, the stupidity, the plot ... Act 2 was terrible.

Why did they not give everyone some proper guns? Those rifles were underpowered. Transformers Last Knight is a mastapiss compared to this.

I use to be super analytical of movies but now I have a very basic grading scale. If the movie pulls me away from my phone then it is entertaining. This did that and I am sure you could nitpick it to death but overall the wife and I enjoyed it. The batshit story actually redeemed it a lot because we were laughing during the movie.

Was like two different films.

And the stupid one-liners (from the stereotypical loud black guy) were totally out of sync with the seriousness of the threat faced by mankind.

And lol at Chris Pratt just going up to the female at the end and sticking his arm down the alien's throat, and punching it in the face with no consequences.

Watched it yesterday. God what a boring slog.
Uninspired cgi mess. The future people being evil and coming in to recruit humans to fight their own in the future would have been more interesting than the stupid alien on earth shit again. Or something else other than what we got.

Pratt stumbles through the movie barely caring. And I also didn't give a damn about his family drama having spend the minimum required time with them to try to make us care.

Liked it a lot, but the story is basically: Zoomers grow up and are too fucking stupid to figure out where the aliens eating them came from and instead have to summon Gen X'ers from the past to save their dumb asses.

Isn't it revealed that it was never about saving the future since that was as good as lost anyway?

It was about giving the present a fighting chance with future (biochemical?) weapons. The events in the movie are still dumb regardless though. :messenger_winking_tongue:

Before yesterday, Army of the Dead was the worst film I had seen this year.

That award now goes to Tomorrow War.

Ain't seen Army of the Dead yet but isn't most of the screen in that movie out of focus? Can't imagine something more bothersome... 👀

No. There are a few out of focus shots, but nowhere near the majority of the film.

TBH, I wouldn't bother with it. The story is an incoherent mess and is riddled with plot holes.

Absolutely hated that film, but not as much as Tomorrow War.

It's rare for me to watch a movie and be so mind-numbingly bored that I move from watching it on my TV to putting it on my second monitor just to finish it. I did it with both movies, if you're going to create such turds at least have the fucking decency to make them short, Hollywood. Well, not really rare nowadays, Hollywood is so fucking terrible now that is has been happening more and more.

It's probably why they went straight to streaming. Hollywood studios knew they'd be duff and they were picked up by Prime and Netflix.

I do agree however that the majority of bud budget movies pumped out by Hollywood are utter shit.

The movie must've shattered their expectations if they're already in talks for a sequel. 👀

Gotta admit that the siege of the water base looked good though.

There is talk of a sequel?! *SMH*

Oh well. Clearly I'm a minority a majority of people enjoyed it. I'm clearly out of touch.

It went straight to streaming because Paramount didn't expect theaters to be open by now, and the Paramount+ rollout wasn't ready. So they sold a few of their theatrical movies (Coming 2 America, Without Remorse, The Tomorrow War) to Amazon, and a couple not yet made (Beverly Hills Cop 4) to Netflix.

Had theaters been open months ago, this and those movies would've released in theaters and THEN streamed on Paramount+ like A Quiet Place II.

There's a new Amazon Prime movie with Kate Beckinsale called Jolt that just came out. I don't feel like making a thread about it (it doesn't deserve one) so I'm just going to post here:

It is pretty shit. On a surface level it's kind of a female-led Crank, but the script isn't nearly as clever and the director is nowhere near as good as Neveldine + Taylor were at their prime. If you like scrawny 50-year old women beating up men that are twice their size and half their age, then maybe you'll get a kick out of it. But like HBO's Watchmen, that's one aspect I just simply can't suspend my disbelief with.

The movie is so shit that this is the kind of stuff that's in the Trivia section of the IMDb page:

For a movie under fire from the left, Tomorrow War felt somewhat woke to me (almost like it was extremely woke at one point during production, but then someone with at least half a brain went over it and culled the most excessive stuff in an effort to salvage it).

The whole second act was ruined in part by a "strong woman" mary sue sidelining the MC and "subverting expectations" or whatever.

In general, the story is complete crap, typical of the "if it has anything fantastical in it, nothing needs to make sense" mindset that I despise.
