G/A/F? Father kills dog to recover son's finger from stomach

Not gonna lie, I probably would have done the same thing. Even if chances of re-attaching the finger were absolutely minuscule I like to think I'd still try.

It was supposedly in a cage and the boy put his finger in. What do you expect? The dog was probably aggravated and chomped down and because of the kids' small size, he bit the finger off.

I don't know how to feel about killing the dog and cutting it's stomach open to retrieve the finger. It's very unsanitary, the finger was probably also subject to digestion, and unlike clear severs of fingers by say a knife, the dog probably severed it too severely to reattach.
I heard a similar story where the wolf-dog ate the entire arm.

Poor parenting. Poor pet care. But I'm not going to delve in too much about his reaction. It was his son's finger. People do crazy shit for their kids when they are in an emergency situation.

Ehhh.. dog attacked a kid, that's an auto-execution as far as I'm concerned. So the dog was gonna get got eventually anyways, so I find no reason to harbor any ill will towards the dad for killing the animal and trying to save the poor kid a digit (no one truly values the pinky until it's injured and you can't use it anymore. Then you realize.. oh shit, this finger is kind of awesome to have).

But his attempt was pretty foolhardy in hindsight.

ASPCA

Most of the other ones are by state or breed.

This is a fantastic one:

Yeah someone posted ASPCA. But it's still good to know they exist as per breed.

I have a feeling the dog could have been rehabilitated. I remember this being a similar case on the zoo incident where a kid got killed because of a parent's stupidity and ended up killing the animal (which iirc was endangered). It's petty in a sense, and the parent didn't get his comeuppance.
