Gaf, have you ever been to this thing known as the "club"?

I don't like going to clubs, but I've had good experiences at them. The most memorable being at a club in Detroit. A buddy of mine had broken up with his girl and was depressed, so me and the homies took him to a bar to chill out. I was rocking a button up and some jeans, 60% of the other dudes in the club were wearing jerseys, shit was disgusting. Anyway I started dancing with a fine dime, looked sort of like Gabrielle Union with a tongue ring. The tongue ring turned me off but she was too hot not to dance with.

After about 20 minutes of dancing and drinks she asked if I wanted to go somewhere more quiet. I was like sure. so we got a table in the back of the club and she was like "lemme give you a handjob." I was buzzed as fuck, loving the moment. She had my dick out, and I was about to ask if she wanted to go to the car or something. Then all of a sudden I feel a sharp stab in my thigh and I'm like what the fuck. She had a knife under the table on me. Told me she was robbing me, told me to give her my cash and my high school graduation ring. I gave her the ring but told her I didn't have any cash, and she was like "nigga I will cut your dick off right now." I gave her my cash - $100. She smiled, showed me the knife (it was small as fuck), then continued the handjob on some ole' "what you gonna do about it, nugga" steez. I let her finish, then she wiped her hands on my nice Southpole jeans and bounced.

I didn't tell my friends what happened. So yea bros, if you go to the club stay away from those dark tables in the back. People run games there all the damn time.
Lol she held you up while your dick was hard hahahahahaaa. No but that is unfortunate pheonix

Lmao, Detroit is shady...
See what I did there? ;)

If everyone on GAF went to clubs/raves there would never be anyone complaining about not getting laid. Seriously, if you're jonesing for that dick/pussy, there is no easier way to get it.

I love EDM and dancing, so clubbing comes as second nature to me, I guess.

Euro clubs are better than clubs in the states. Most clubs here all they do is play top 40 shit and they suck. Berlin clubs like Berghain and Tresor back in the day play legit techno/house music that you can dance to for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours.

The key to nightclubs is to be drunk before you go in, but not too drunk that the bouncers don't let you in. You, in your hopefully intoxicated state, will be drunk enough to not care about the obnoxiously loud music or sticky floors.

This is correct. Too drunk to care, but less drunk than the girls you are dancing with.

I don't like clubs, never have. But I don't think any of you would understand the type of clubs there are where I live. I mean well... how do I explain this. Take what PheonixDark posted and make it white, redneck, country, and loud. There are almost no pretty girls at these places, and if their are you might be related to them. One of these "clubs" is actually a barn connected to a country ass backwoods restaurant. Trust me, you don't want to be in there drunk, you need your wits about you.

I'm a little too busy reading Attack on Titan to go to any stinkin' club.

Yeah, I can't stand them. Music's too loud, and I can't fucking dance. I don't enjoy dancing at all.

I had never been to a club in my own country, even as my friends go.
But when I went to Tokyo, I hang out in clubs that play game music, jpop etc.
Very little dancing, mostly just chilling in there.
No, I still don't like the typical clubbing music and crowd hence I avoid it.

I enjoy going to a club once in a while since I adore dancing like a madman. Though I like the atypical clubs more than the typical places. There is one club that focuses on industrial and 'gothic' music, and I always have so much fun in it due to the people, the music, and the overall environment.

What are ClubGaf's thoughts on cover charges? Are they a necessary evil?

I don't mind too much unless it's over $10, but you could get a guest list and go in for free before midnight around here. But since it's winter now , you have to pay guest list + coat check.

I've only been to two clubs. They were really boring. I'm not a huge fan of music or dancing, so I see no reason to go other than to appease other people. I would go, and I would attempt to dance with people. I didn't quite get it, but I just tried to stay positive even though it was boring. I guess it was cool just being there with friends although I couldn't even talk to them over the music. I'd rather go somewhere where people can actually talk.

The clubs around here aren't very good. We mostly have pubs and lounges.

The clubs change names and ownership really quickly. Haven't been to one in years. Going to one now would make me feel ancient. Everyone is so young (legal drinking age is 19 here).

Been to a few clubs in Montreal. They are much better there. Didn't have a lousy experience. To the op, I find they are a much better experience when you go with a partner. Going single is a bit frustrating! I'm way too awkward/inhibited to feel comfortable letting go in a club.

I kind of missed out on the whole club scene. Was too busy working/schooling and partying on the cheap. Once things started to slow down in my life, I didn't have much interest in trying it out.

My friend and I go to what is the closest thing our small town has on a weekly basis. Meeting girls is barely even part of it, though you can meet some, our town is just bad for that. Overall going out is fun if you're with people, and if you don't have people, there are probably people there that also don't, so just hangout with them, that's what we did, though, we have had terrible luck doing that and have hung out with some weird people who said and did weird things the whole night. Dancing is fun? Writing this whole thing out is making me realize that clubs are kinda terrible, especially if you're not in a bigger city or you're not near one.

Well, I'm actually going out right now, and this has now soured my image of what the night will be like. Thanks, GAF.

Detroit grimy as fuck, apparently.

Anyway, this small ass town has no relevant clubs. It's all house parties--of which I throw about one per semester and I bartend for. If I move to a bigger town next year the first thing I plan on doing is hitting up the clubs and seeing what's happening.

Big time electronic music fan. No other choice than clubs for dj sets and live shows of my favourite djs. Going to parties where my favourite djs are playing is one of the thing I enjoy the most in life.

But I can't stand "normal" clubs where they are blasting radio hits and shitty dance music.

Exactly how I feel. Living in Arizona means I don't go to clubs anymore since none of the big DJs come here

Got pulled along to a club once for a specific DJ my edm-loving friends wanted to see. Dancing was fun. I'd go again for a specific event like that.Socializing was basically impossible but we'd hung out before the event. The point of being there wasn't to socialize, it was the music.

Lol. I saw the thread title and immediately thought of this picture.

I used to hate clubs until I got a girlfriend. Now it's fun because I always have a dance partner. And grinding all night usually ends up with a happy ending once we get home.

Casual formal helps. Good cologne but otherwise, you can go there with any clothing you want.
Not necessarily true. There's a lot of nightclubs - mainly ones in the bigger cities - that have a strict dress code of smart casual. You can't go in with scruffy jeans, trainers and a Superdry jacket. A couple of them round here require you to at least wear a smart pair of shoes, no trainers allowed whatsoever unless they're pristine, and remove any jackets or tops that be considered 'street' wear. A nice shirt, a pair of clean skinny jeans and a pair of nice-looking shoes works well. I agree with the cologne, though. If you're going to any nightclub, cologne is a must.

Hahaha. I go to clubs fairly regularly through the years and I usually have a good time. It's hard to go wrong when there's alcohol, good music and good friends around. But that picture above is almost literally me the last time I went to a club. That was probably two or three months back. Don't get me wrong. I wasn't sulking in a corner like that but I was standing, having a drink and talking to some friends and thinking, "Man, it's Friday night, I'm tired as fuck from work and I'd rather be home playing Dota". Maybe that particular club was bad (it was) or maybe I am getting old (I am). Meh.

I went to a nightclub a couple years ago and I have never been back. The music was too loud to socialize and the music they were playing just wasn't my cup of tea. Honestly I'm not really sure what you're supposed to do there besides get drunk. Overall it was a pretty lousy experience and I won't be going back anytime soon.

Meh, I stopped going to these locations after puberty wore off. They're only tolerable when being shitfaced drunk, the prices are ridiculously high, most people there are either way too young, way too old or simply horribly uninteresting or annoying.

From my experience you either love clubs or you don't. I firmly believe that you can't learn to like them.

Here is what I don't understand about clubs : why do you have to stay there for so FREAKING LONG?

I've gone a few times because I was with people, and I can muster some enjoyment for maybe an hour, an hour and a half if I like the people I'm with, but they want to stay there for HOURS. Why is this acceptable for dancing and not for everything else? I absolutely love playing tennis, but if I proposed a 6 hours tennis marathon to anyone they'd think I'm fucking nuts. Ditto for cooking, playing pool, watching movies, riding a bike or whatever else.

And night after night after night too, I would get panick attacks throwing my life away like that.

Dance clubs are the best. Your standard high street Ritzy's (Tiger Tiger/Liquid/Time etc etc) is a glorified meatmarket disco full of cunts. Fun when I was a teenager, super depressing now. I don't want to be dance to top 40 crap and be the old guy I used to laugh at. I always feel more comfortable at house/techno clubs where people are pilled up rather than boozed up.

For the OP

Some lames in here.

Drinking is awesome, learn to dance and enjoy grinding on hot women.

Learn how to talk to women and enjoy taking them home.

Clubs are my mainstay every weekend

I don't dance, I don't pick up girls, I don't drink I don't listen to danceable music. So yes, I have been to clubs, and no, I never enjoyed it.

Congrats on the sex.

Am I missing out never going to clubs?

I would like to but my ears are fucked and I have bad tinnitus so If I was to goto a club which would be really loud it would be bad for my ears so I can't take the risk.

Just went to see BT. Loads of fun, got buzzed, danced my ass off, and listened to some great music. On the downside, my ears are still ringing.

Well, this perfectly satisfies my need to find reasons not to go to clubs.

I like clubbing, a lot! I have friends in London who know all the good places to go. As long as it's not the same songs everywhere else always plays. Some good house or techno will do.

All too often, though, I just stand in the corner and wish I was at home playing games, just like that picture hahaha.

I once went to a bar with Anamanaguchi playing, though. That's practically clubbing. Fucking loved it; clubs should play stuff like that more often.
