Gaf, have you ever been to this thing known as the "club"?

Most important thing about being in a club is to get out of your head. If you get stuck in there you will end up just thinking 'My feet hurt, I wish I was home etc.'.

Most common way to do this is applying alcohol or other drugs, but you can do it with a bit of mental effort as well.

If you get a bit tired of dancing, go out to the smoking area with a buddy or two. Even if you don't smoke you can chill there and have a nice chat. Then when you've recovered, you can go back in and hit the floor.

My favourite club has an amazing smoking area, it's massive and it has a bar, and a BBQ serving burgers and hot dogs. So amazing.

Sounds good.

From the age of 18-21 I was out every Friday and Saturday night, but now it's only once a month or so. Sometimes it's shit, but usually it's a good time.

Oh hell yeah! I used to go all the time late HS till maybe around 3rd-4th year of University. Then, it just wasn't my thing. I haven't been in AGES even though my good childhood friend is a major promoter in Toronto.

Good music, having fun with friends, some drinks, and dancing with the cute girls...

I don't like going to clubs, but I've had good experiences at them. The most memorable being at a club in Detroit. A buddy of mine had broken up with his girl and was depressed, so me and the homies took him to a bar to chill out. I was rocking a button up and some jeans, 60% of the other dudes in the club were wearing jerseys, shit was disgusting. Anyway I started dancing with a fine dime, looked sort of like Gabrielle Union with a tongue ring. The tongue ring turned me off but she was too hot not to dance with.

After about 20 minutes of dancing and drinks she asked if I wanted to go somewhere more quiet. I was like sure. so we got a table in the back of the club and she was like "lemme give you a handjob." I was buzzed as fuck, loving the moment. She had my dick out, and I was about to ask if she wanted to go to the car or something. Then all of a sudden I feel a sharp stab in my thigh and I'm like what the fuck. She had a knife under the table on me. Told me she was robbing me, told me to give her my cash and my high school graduation ring. I gave her the ring but told her I didn't have any cash, and she was like "nigga I will cut your dick off right now." I gave her my cash - $100. She smiled, showed me the knife (it was small as fuck), then continued the handjob on some ole' "what you gonna do about it, nugga" steez. I let her finish, then she wiped her hands on my nice Southpole jeans and bounced.

I didn't tell my friends what happened. So yea bros, if you go to the club stay away from those dark tables in the back. People run games there all the damn time.

Yeah. Yup. Wow. You know. Um. Shit!

I went a handful of times, but it's never been my thing. I like to talk, not yell. The whole scene is the antithesis of how I prefer to hang out and communicate.

First, I don't drink. Second, I would rather hang out with 1 friend than a hundred strangers. Third, the kind of people that frequent clubs aren't really my type.

I see how people could dig it though.

Well, it was nice of her to finish you.
On the otherhand, you essentially paid 100 bucks and a ring for a handjob.

Love clubbing as long as i dig the music. Liked it better when you could still smoke inside though, leaving the dancefloor to go smoke is pretty annoying.
Don't go as much as i used to, but when i do i still have a good time.

Have basically gone clubbing about three or four nights a week over the past two months haha. It's a temporary thing, my boundless free time will soon be meeting its natural end.

Must have been hard not to RNC her into unconsciousness and get your shit back the minute she turned her back on you.

As long as the music is good, the rest will follow.

If the music is shit, you'll have a shit night.

It's basically that simple.

Been to plenty of clubs. Some were fun. Some weren't.

I like lounges a bit more. Music is at a reasonable level so I don't have to yell and scream and I'm not a fan of grinding on someone with my clothes on to shitty pop music.

Went to one when I was at Western Illinois. Didn't really care for it. Too loud, Too crowded. Too dark. I much prefer regular bars.

Our group of friends was split almost every weekend on where we wanted to go.

I wouldn't exactly call The Forum a club.

Beats smelling like an ash tray when you get home.

Like Arjen said clubbing is great as long as the music is good. You can pick up women, dance and have lots of fun there. When they start spamming that repetitive house shit though I get annoyed and leave early.

No, never... especially none that specialize in electronic dance music, I hate that shit. :P

Big time electronic music fan. No other choice than clubs for dj sets and live shows of my favourite djs. Going to parties where my favourite djs are playing is one of the thing I enjoy the most in life.

But I can't stand "normal" clubs where they are blasting radio hits and shitty dance music.

What about music festivals? Great way to see tons of DJs at once. Also lately it seems that the bigger names in DJing are moving out of clubs and into stadiums - Swedish House Mafia and Armin playing at Madison Square Garden for instance. (unfortunately with rising ticket prices too. Armin at a club used to cost $40 now it's $150 a ticket to see him at MSG)

Though I totally agree with you, but it can be a bit of a buzzkill when a DJ you really love is playing at a place that's not great. Like when I saw Tensnake a few weeks ago, the place was waaaaay too tiny and was filled with too many people.

My friends always talk about going to one, but I'm never interested. I hate overly loud music, and I'm not much of a dancer. I've been to a few dances back in HS, and if it's anything like that. Then I'm definitely not interested.

All it was is just a lot of grinding and loud music.

Problem with festivals is that the DJ only gets one or two hours. A good DJ really shines if they have the whole evening. Mills, Clarke, garnier etc. All at there best in a club setting.

House music at least is not meant for music festivals, an outdoor setting is too aesthetically dissonant, it feels more appropriate in like dingier and darker places indoors. It's just the way of things.

Euro clubs are better than clubs in the states. Most clubs here all they do is play top 40 shit and they suck. Berlin clubs like Berghain and Tresor back in the day play legit techno/house music that you can dance to for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours.

Is Berghain's door policy as arbitrary as people claim?

Well it depends what subgenre of house too. Deep house is perfect for an outdoor festival with mild weather at mid-day, though dark progressive house (and I'd imagine tech house though it's not my favorite house subgenre) is best in a dingy dark basement club at 4AM when you're sleep-deprived.

yeah. it sucks.

it really is nothing but sweaty people grinding up on each other. If the music is good you can get lost in the moment, but leave it to some cholo to come and rub his bare wet skin on you during the high peak of the beat. I'd probably -never- go to a club without a lady.

Even then I disagree :p

At least she finished you off....

I met my wife at a rave. I don't think we talked at all that night

I think I went once but I was too drunk so I grabbed a beer and split. Bars suit me better. Clubs just make me super depressed, they're filled with the ugliest people here.

Oh, also I went to a club toilet at 2 AM on a friday night. Touched hands with some Armenian guy when I reached for the hand drier thing. We smiled at each other and went on with our nights. It was magical.

how do you feel about MDMA

Who does that more than like three times a year though? I agree though it was kind key for me early on to overcome some barriers and develop an appreciation for that kind of setting, I did a lot of MDMA in my early 20's but man unless you're taking pretty moderate doses its effect on serotonin is too much of a rollercoaster that now I can't understand how some people take it so frequently.

Went to a club in Vegas once, absolute disappointment. We got in, the club was dull as Fuck the music was really loud, everyone was in their early to mid 30s and it was pretty much like a 6th grade dance. The drinks were expensive unless you were a girl in which case open bar. Pretty much never doing that again.

I can't handle it too much these days either, but like you said it was pretty crucial in my early 20s. I was a lot like a lot of these "i hate fun types" until i decided fuck it im gonna go roll at a rave, my life turned a lot more awesome after that point.

winners don't use drugs kids

Yeah, I think that's pretty fair, and accurate of my experience, too.

how do you guys feel about rolling at clubs? I've only really rolled at raves when you're surrounded by tons of other people rolling, feels safe.

Well I'm gay, so I've rolled primarily at gay clubs. The atmosphere there is usually overwhelmingly 'safe' and accepting because there isn't really the problem of macho posturing, or fights breaking out, or anything like that. It's not the same as a rave but I guess for me I don't have to feel as on guard as I would at other places.

i've done both, just depends on the indivudual event, sometimes raves are full of shady dudes and sometimes clubs are full of a bunch of awesome people rolling out of their minds

in the club you just have to pay a little more attention to how you are acting

also I'm not gay but will 2nd the fact that gay clubs are always 5000x better, where I live people are pissed that straight people from the suburbs are coming and ruining the clubs haha
