Probably obvious, but Pac for me.

He was never afraid to tell politicians to go fuck themselves, in increasingly angry but articulate ways. I'd love to hear what an older, more mature Pac would have to say about shit post 9/11.

We don't have that popular dude making that music.

We let a track with a guy singing a Paula Abdul hook on his own rap record go platinum.

We have fucked failed.

haha, was wondering how this kept getting a pass for so long. overcast is gonna have words.

Spend it if ya got it. Only thing I haven't liked from Drake is the gun little gun clap hand gesture. He raps about having his goons do it at least. Can't fault him there.

But yeah, matter of time before he gets himself killed. lol.

So you talk tough about beating up a tattoo artist and then send in your body guard to yell at him? Fucking bitch move. And what exactly is the body guard going to do? Wag his finger at him and tell him he's a bad boy?
I used to just dislike the guy's music, now he's bitchmade confirmed, fuck drake.

yeah, see, i stand out cause i like dude's music but this defines bitchmade.
i'm sticking with drake = new sean penn from carlito's way ("oh, you big time now, huh?"), but the jr soprano or whatever one works as well.

lmfao drake... coms remix musta made dudes PMS come a little early, clearly the behavior of a shook human being

i hope Drake doesn't get shot, then his suspect ass fanbase will dickride him till the day we die.

some truth here - this is about saving face after Com (and prolly either being told not to reply or deciding not to, this is like kicking your dog after a bully picks on you), and yeah, he would be immortalized and facebook would be uninhabitable for years to come.

pac woulda just died later or gone soft or become an actor. sustained success changes you from a gangster to a businessman no matter WHO you are.

That's like saying everybody becomes a republican with age. It may be often true, but it's not universal.

Who knows. It doesn't matter. He's dead, and we're left with Drake barking at Common's shins. Who really has it worse?

It could be argued most gangsters are businessmen with dirtier mouths...

To be honest I really do not have an opinion on who should still be alive, I like pac, but his last album was so filled with hate (machiavelli) it really turned me off of his music. Biggie was a great storyteller and artist also. I actually prefer Biggie over Tupac, but like both. It is sad to have them both have been killed. I really just wish Tupac wouldn't have went crazy after the whole Biggie fiasco.

Big L was an extremely talented battle rapper whose style I don't see being great for multiple albums. Same with Pun. Incredible delivery and sometimes lyricism, but I don't see myself spinning a full catalogue of either.

The thing is, L was killed before he even had a chance to spread his wings. I think he would have grown and matured as an artist and not just stayed stuck pigeonholed as a battle rapper.

Imagine Outkast being killed right after Southernplayalistic. Sure, that's a great album but would you have expected them to make ATLiens or Aquemeni based off that? Or would you have expected more of the same? I'm not saying I think Big L was going to make something groundbreaking like ATLiens, but he started off with a classic LP (IMO he showed more range than just being a "battle rapper" on Lifestyles), made Ebonics (which showed progression) and then bam, that's it.

Sucks we'll never know what would've been, but dude was so sick with the wordplay from jump I think he would have only gotten better with time.

Well, keep mind that a lot of that material was never going to see the light of day. Every artist probably is sitting on dozens of tracks they make when pissed off. Most of them don't have Suge night willing to fuck up your legacy for a buck.

Well yeah people eventually die. It's inevitable.

I have difficulty wrapping my head around the idea of Pac going soft though. It was more mentality than actions that made Pac who he is. Dude did soft things, dude did hard things, he stuck by his code throughout.

He had planned on doing more acting. I think with age he would have gone soft, now way to keep that kind of fire forever. I wonder if he would have gotten introspective or made more party jams, I don't know. But I do think we would have been saying, "remember that old Pac?"

To be honest i liked Big Picture more than Lifestyles, blasphemy I know but i just get... listening fatigue with the latter.

As for going soft... Soft might be the wrong word. But fame changes everyone except for a few iron personalities. And pac wasn't always a consistent character.

Can't fear change then if change was constantly happening anyways. Like I said, his acts changed but his goals and a lot of the things he valued never did. Dude wanted to be an actor from the get-go.. he was in a drama program at his HS.

So...why is Theophilus London not a star yet? I don't particularly care for him, but he's got a whole lotta songs that'd do well on the radio. He's like a poppier, more OONTZ OONTZ Cudi.

I've been wondering this myself, I was listening to one his tracks the other day (Century Girl). Surprised by the lack of talk about that song.

Pac is the undisputed and universal GOAT. His throwaway catalog is better than 99.99999% of every other rappers real catalog. Seriously. Just the stuff that got released after he died. Aside from that one record with the Eminem track and beats. That should really be against the law against putting 2Pac with Em and over Em beats. That was basically the record label taking a steamy sloppy shit all over his grave.

But yea, R U Still Down, Better Dayz and Until the End of Time alone.

Oh, and fuck most of Pac's Life (the record) too. That shit was almost as bad as the Em desecration.

I wish I could hear that Soul Creator track man. I'm living out in the boonies right now on satellite internet. I thought DSL was bad, holy shit. Manged to piss the wife off enough to get thrown out. 'S alright though. Walked out the casino tonight up nearly a G, got some really nice strange set up for tomorrow. It's about to be a good weekend.

soul creator i'm dying here. hilarious.

Everyone has a rapper who they unjustifiably hate. One they jump to discredit, or just think, 'this dude is a lame, he brought hip hop down', or 'he was a poser'. Hell, you might even know that their popularity or some element of their style brought something to the hip hop table, but fuck it, because fuck that guy right.

For kampsy, that is Eminem. The guy whose mere existence makes you saltier than the pacific ocean.

Everyone has at least one.

It's not surprising that Loyal to the Game was released around the same time Eminem dropped Encore. But yeah that and Pac's Life are garbage. It's a shame that they haven't done anything with his catalog since Pac's life though.

I really need to sit down and listen to some 2pac one day.

I mean, I know all the main hits or whatever, and have heard different parts of the albums at different times, but I don't think I've ever just sat and listened to a full 2pac album.

Say what you want about Death Row but the records that were soley produced by them after Pac's death were WAY better than the one's Afeni Shakur had her hands on.

Me against the world.
May just be my favourite hip hop album of all time. Pac has so many dope songs it would be hard for me to list just a few.
Read this blog post though: http://sunsetintherearview.com/throwback-thursday-tupac-shakur/

immortal tech.

How I wish that was true. Sigh.

Fuck the best. Who would you rather have alive and still making music today?

Dilla obviously. Name me one producer that challenged himself to evolve his style just to do a complete 180° and try something new as much as Dilla did. Most people only know his soul stuff but man, when he started flipping synths... The beats on some unreleased bootlegs and rare beats are insane. I'm 100% certain that he had so much more in him. Personally I feel that his death was the biggest loss in hip-hop.

GZA, Doom, Nas, Elzhi and Big L.

With the talk of who would you rather have alive Premier got a new interview with Bootleg Kev where he says the quality of music would be better if people like Big L, Pac, Big, Pun were alive because they wouldn't allow some of the bad rappers to get big.

He also says the whole album with Nas is going to happen, Nas told him at rock the bells that he just needed to get some other albums done before. I think Nas wants to get off Def Jam before doing it.

Oh snap Premier said he is about to do something with Gza, could be Liquid Swords 2 I know RZA is supposed to do all of it but what could this be?
