lmao Dereck

I'm leaning towards not buying the album. Definitely copping the Weeknd's album (haven't heard the leak); as with Bronson, it's only right I buy the album after getting so much dope free shit from him. But with Jay Rock...I can't support this fuckery. I'm trying to think of what their "goal" was and whether they're truly intent on not releasing it now since it clearly failed to meet it. Was it getting Jay Rock into the top 10? He got to #13, at which point they said they were close to the goal. Or is it a specific number of preorders. Regardless they clearly failed, so now what?

Remember Oxymoron had more preorders than GKMC....ultimately that's not a good measurement of what a project is going to sell.

Watttttt.

Just a few ̶w̶̶e̶̶e̶̶k̶̶s̶ months (damn, time flies) ago I discovered Neutral Milk Hotel in one of those "What are your favorite albums from any genre?" threads on GAF and In the Aeroplane Over the Sea really became one of my favorite go-to albums when I'm in the mood for that sound:

That album was a huge influence on many modern indie folk/rocks bands apparently.

Hüstensaft Jüngling is part of the Glo Up Dinero Gang which is lead by Money Boy of whom you might have heard of some years ago.

On the one hand, these dudes are fucking hilarious and brought an entirely new slang to rap which mixes German and English words with hilarious results. Their tracks are pretty much garbage but because of their ridiculousness and insane output (like almost one or two videos every week) they found their fanbase and a lot of people fuck with it. It's crazy: I remember him being shat on all the time and now he's valued like a national treasure by a huge crowd.

On the other hand though you see these cats always around underaged teenage girls and.. well, you can think about the rest yourself. They not only push these groupies but also show them off with pride on social media and such.

The best part though: Money Boy is actually working as a professor at a university and his dissertation is floating around the net afaik. Rumor is he started the whole Money Boy persona as a social experiment but got so caught up in the role with the help of fame and drugs that he's unable to return his original persona.

BTW, didn't know that the young king has returned to Twitter. Also, when did this happen

it's bad?

Where's Toku...reassure me, brother.

If you like the poppy direction he's been in lately I think you'll like it. Shameless and Acquainted (latter being an illangelo prod) feel like cleaned up mixtape weeknd to me though and are my favorite joints on it. Lowkey even the Ed Sheeran track is flames. I was one of the few people that loved Kissland but I'm pretty comfortable saying BBTM is better. Less fat.

I've been jumping back and forth between 2001 and Compton and I've gotta say, I think Compton is better.

Of course it doesn't have Still D.R.E. and Next Episode, but every song is at least okay to great. That's more than what I can say for 2001 considering half or more of that album is pretty forgettable filler (with nice beats). And if you take the absolute lowest points on each album, the skit at the end of Loose Cannons seems like the most amazing skit ever put to wax compared to Pause 4 Porno.

I like Compton but let's not kid ourselves here, The Next Episode is better than the entire album

Speaking of songs that are better than entire albums: King Of The Fall from Weeknd is >>> BBTM

Let's keep it funky

Chronic >> 2001 >>>> Compton

I mean, I like Compton, but 2001's highs are way way way way higher than Compton's, and even after 2001 drops the fuck off on the second half, the total CD is still a much better overall work.

also Life is Good > Illmatic, Fishscale > Supreme Cliente, Yeezus > CD, Jesus Piece > The Documentary, Dreamer Believer > Chocolate for Water, Stankonia > ATLiens, American Gangster > Reasonable Doubt, Bush > Doggystyle, The Ecstatic > Black on Both Sides, and T&Y > The Cool

It's okay, you all can tell me I'm wrong and keep listening the the classic one-two punch of Pause 4 Porno and Housewife, or maybe Car Bomb and Murda Ink.

2001 has an EP's worth of classic tracks, but as it stands is nearly a double album of said classics mixed in with shit that's mediocre to trash. Compton may not have songs on the level of 2001's highs, but as an overall body of work, it's just better front to back. Y'all know it to be true.

LOL@the edit.

Stankonia > ATLiens is right, though.

I agree. Listened to 2001 from front to back the first time in years the other day and realized how weak it is as a whole outside of the biggest hits. Compton is pretty cohesive and has no real skippers or fillers.

You're gonna put Murder Ink up as one of the good tracks on 2001?

2001 aged badly. My lord, the stank of those corny ass west coast beats in the late 90s to early 2000s are still in the album's pores. I think the only song out of that album that still bangs is The Next Episode.
