You know, I actually think Rodeo is the best SHMG could have been. Let's be honest, it probably would have had the same sound. Hopefully SWISH is not another over-produced, Orchestra-Trap album. Leave that to Travis and other young cats who sound more authentic when making ignant music. Ye's verse on Rodeo is straight up embarrassing and I'm really over that Yeezus style at this point.
As a huge Ye stan, I agree with him probably having reached his peak already. Ah well, that's just the way it is. You can't be great forever. CD and LR will be timeless classics for me.

Wasn't feeling the Pornography and the Oh My Dis Side had me getting drowsy. Don't have much to say about either track they seemed incomplete. Aaaand then 3500 hit, yeah shit bumps. That chorus. Wasted is heavy don't really know what else to say, the bass on this track is fucking large. The off tempo flute is a nice touch, but the song ends abrupt as fuck. Hmm 90210 started off like Pornography 2.0 and then turned into some 808s & Heartbreak and Yeezus lovechild. And it seems that lovechild's youth was short lived as it grew up into a mediocre rap verse and beat switch 3 minutes into the track, oh well. Pray 4 Love has that nu-Abelesque verse and some cringey ass lines "wanna know my dick longer than a pringles box." Track isn't bad, but it's not one of the better songs on here so far imo.
Night Call sounds like that song you hear at a club but you're never able to find out what it is. I like it. Digging this intro on Piss On Your Grave, and holy shit Ye sounded like Travis for the first few sentences. Ugh that second verse :/ song was going pretty well too. Lol Antidote sounds like Trae Scrummurd. It's not a bad thing per-say but lol. Impossible sounds so subdued compared to the rest of the album, it just seems so out of place. Not really a fan, didn't notice anything truly unique about the track on my first listen. I don't care what anyone says Bieber made Maria I'm Drunk. Wasn't feeling Thug's verse at all and then Bieber comes in and kills it. I can tell is better than Flying High aka Hubba Bubba Bubblegum. Getting really tried now so that's all I have to say. I'm so tired, Apple Pie was alright.
Overall not bad, but not gonna die to come back anytime soon outside of a few tracks.

it's aight. a lot of the tracks have too much going on to really throw in rotation. after DBR i wasn't expecting a headphones album like this but DBR is the outlier in his discography.
Night Call is going on the party playlist though. That's the only track where everything comes together.

Need those enzo impressions; I think the middle is kinda wonky but beginning + end is straight up flames. Not sure where it'll rank against DBR but I think it's pretty gud (shoutouts to Cheddahz)

I don't know how I'd stack it against Rodeo or even Owl Pharaoh. Its his most polished project, and most "albumy" in that there isn't just random features and themes - banger/to chill track ratio more balanced, seems more mature and confident as a project overall.

Oh yeah this I agree with; definitely his most polished one. There is no straight skip song for me which says a lot tbh. If people liked the previous projects they will love this one as well.
BTW the beat switches are all amazing on this; the Oh My Dis Side switch is straight fuego
Not sure what to think of that Kanye track.. sure, very brave to put a experimental track like that on the album, but this feels very unfocused

It's Travis before Bieber comes in by the way. Thug's verse is at the end, i think it's pretty good.
I think I prefer Travis' vocals on the leaked version of the song. I don't know why he switched it up, seems like a bit of a Kanye-influence overthinking situation.

ah i thought he had quit making music. yeah that's a nice song. i don't see it being a radio hit though. Drake should get Bieber on Views.
First Impressions - Travi$ Scott's Rodeo
On first listen, Rodeo is good, it pretty much always keeps stuff switching up so you can't really get stuck in a rut with it, a quality I'm valuing more and more with albums. Doesn't necessarily thump as hard as what was on DBR or have the diversity/album flow of Owl Pharoah, but it's it's own vibe/sound completely and that's a good thing. I feel like I need to give this a few runs through in headphones to fully appreciate the production because it's kind of magnificent with all the different places it touches. I generally feel this is going to be a love/hate album though especially because of the quite liberal use of autotune and there's no obvious structure/sequencing, just joint after joint.
The album just has these moments that get you moving that more than compensate for either crummy verses or too many transitions (transitions are mostly good though, there's just a lot of them). The transition & verse in Pornography, Oh My Dis Side's hook(s), the split seconds where the flute or w/e gets to breathe in Wasted, the start of the beat on I Can Tell, etc. Generally any presence of a guitar, no matter how much it's manipulated ends up being dope as fuck on this album and really helps the production stick out.
Standouts are Pornography, 3500, Pray 4 Love, Maria I'm Drunk, I Can Tell and maybe Apple Pie. My biggest complaints are that some of the slower and lower tempo songs just kind of get lost in the mix and are less interesting (Impossible, 90210), and the autotune can be a weeeee bit much at times, a lot of times. Also I don't care for that Toro Y Moi song at all. Piss On Your Grave just sounds gutted in general. Paul McCartney was probably WAY out of the budget so I understand him being taken off, but I feel like Ye is just kind of talking on that shit and he never gets into his groove. Disappointing, especially with the history of songs they've made together.
3500 only gets better with more listens, used to think 2 Chainz' verse was too long but the shit talking just keeps building in a dope way and there are so many quotables. Don't think I've enjoyed a verse as much from him since his last album.
