Dany should just hold up somewhere , get those Unsullied trainees up to speed, put out feelers for support in Westeros, and wait for her dragons to mature instead of traipsing around the desert making enemies while they're vulnerable. She'd be unstoppable with the army she has
now and three full sized dragons.

Ha, I read this somewhere and it did give me a bit of hope:

"One good thing about killing the "good guys" is once there are only the bad guys left, they get at eachother's throat. . ."

Now they can focus on tearing each other apart from the inside >:]

If I had my way I would have ended the series on the Red Wedding, specifically when the doors were closed and the Rains of Castamere started playing. I'd go with the shot of Catelyn looking up to the band. All the while the Rains of Castamere keeps playing over the credits.

Imagine having to wait a year to see the conclusion of that scene!

I'm going to be disappointed if Jaqen returns with a new actor, but it will be worth it either way if he ends up training Arya.

Everyone would have been spoiled in the intervening year.

Honestly, I highly doubt he will be back as the same actor, if he even comes back. He was a prisoner when we met him. Why use the same face he was imprisoned with if he can change it so easily? My reasons for doubting he will come back at all tie in with the fact that he was in a prison at all. He was with those other guys that seemed pretty nefarious, so he must have done something bad. He might try to go do it again and end up right back in jail. And how could Arya even find him if she wanted to? Yeah, he offered to take her to Braavos, but I personally think he only meant that if she wanted to learn to do those things, he would accompany her to Braavos. That doesn't mean that the duties he said he has were also in Braavos. I mean he does say if she needs to find him, give the coin to someone from Braavos, but what does that REALLY mean? He knows how to be stealthy and remain unseen if he doesn't want to be. So what would some random scrub from Braavos know that Arya doesn't in order to able to find him? Unless all men from Braavos know how to do what he can do. In fact, if he can be unseen well enough to kill all those men in Harrenhal, what was he doing in jail anyway?! Was he there on purpose?

I never stopped to think just how weird Jaquen, but now that I do, he's REALLY weird.

My exact thoughts. It would have been nearly impossible to avoid getting spoiled on this.

And I'm also one who needed a feelgood episode after the red wedding, so even ending it after the red wedding would have been no good to me.

I hope they do get the actor to return but if they can't it would be the easiest recast in the history of TV. Almost zero explanation required; Faceless Man, old face, done.

He obviously wasn't lying, He was damn near crying as he retold the story to Arya.

Now tears are proof of truth? That's cool, I guess. But the Yoren thing doesn't really matter. I still say Arya goes crazy. It's really not something that we can prove or disprove with how unpredictable this series can be, so I'd much rather move past the conversation myself. Towards something like this

Off to see the Game of Thrones exhibition in Belfast in about 12 hours time, quite looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll be good.

Have fun! I skipped the premiere last night but I've heard good things. I was playing around with the Hounds helmet the other day at the offices. Very cool. You should also check out Helen's photo exhibit at the Botanical Gardens museum. Great stuff there.

I wonder if people will true quit watching the show like they have promised next season (after Robb's death), or if they are hooked and will stay.

I'm betting on the latter, but we won't know until next season.

Must get a dander there when I get the chance, no time for it today unfortunately.

That would have totally ruined the impact of the whole thing.

Did the rains of castamere ever get played during the series before the red wedding? It had no impact on me at first and then I read up on it and I'm surprised Catelyn didn't try to get the fuck out of the room after five seconds. Not that it would have changed anything of course but it just seemed weird, like who the fuck requested this song instead of going holy shit ambush everyone.

It was played during the credits of the Blackwater episode, and Bron and a group of soldiers sang it as well. Cersei talked about the song during Tyrion's wedding.

I only remember it being described. thats why when everyone was like "its rains", i thought I had missed something. but looking back, I never heard it in the series till epi 9,

ETA: so seems it was played, yet had no idea what song it was

To subtle for me, they should have played it every time that Tywin appears on the screen ;)

right, i see that now - hence my edit. but had no idea what it meant or any significance to the song

Well, in the episode right before the red wedding, Cercei explained that the song was written to commemorate Tywin massacring a family that stood up and rebelled against him, The Reyens. And in the scene where Bron is singing, someone calls it 'The Lannister Song'. Which it basically is. I can see why someone would miss all that though, since usually songs aren't important in television shows unless it's a musical :p

There are a couple of times Tyrion is whistling it too. Off the top of my head: Season 2 ep 1 when he goes to the small council for the first time

Season 2 ep 2, when Tyrion is walking to his room where he finds Varis and Shae already talking.

im aware of the Cercei scene. But it was too subtle. A throwaway line(to me at least) a season ago and playing over credits just wasnt enough to me.

Thoros of Myr also sings it when they first meet with Arya, and an instrumental version ends episode 7 after Jaime rescues Brienne.

My heart ^

I want to get my mom and little sister into this show because they love fantasy stuff like LOTR, however my mom likes for me to watch with them to explain something if they don't quite get it. I'm kind of reluctant to watch this show with them due to all the awkward sex scenes, yes it's just sex, human nature etc, but I find it too awkward to watch people getting plowed with the woman that gave birth to me and my innocent sister.

This is the only place I view GoT info, and even then I still feel like I'm playing Russian Roulette every time I enter.

I recognized the song right away, which prompted me to post on GAF at the time, because it was so memorable at the end of blackwater, and I listened to it a couple times after that on youtube.
