My god, come on people! If you think someone is spoiling something PM him/her or PM a mod! Don't go attacking them in this thread! It's extremely confusing to everyone, and could attract attention to the possible spoiler.
Just assume everything is speculation, which is probably the case nine times out of ten, and PM if you're having doubts.

*sigh*

Common sense and people have been repeating this, but maybe this should go somewhere in the OP? Something like:

- If you think someone is pretending to be a non-reader and is posting spoilers disguised as speculation, do not respond, do not confirm or deny the spoiler. Instead, PM [link to Mod profile in charge].

Thoughts?

Trouncing Boardwalk Empire and catching up to True Blood (when you consider the numbers for S3 so far, which weren't plotted on that graph yet). :)

I wonder how Boardwalk Empire would be doing with a better lead; Buscemi is a great actor but he's not a lead to me. The original plan was to have Alec Baldwin play Nucky. Good lord, that would have been perfect.

It's still a spoiler and you never said it us speculation....where else are we supposed to believe she's headed if we haven't read the books?

Did he definitively say she wont be in Westeros because he knows the books, or because that's what he thinks?

I also don't think she'll be in Westeros this season only because she still doesn't have the ships or support, but I think next season for sure. Otherwise her storyline is just dumb having her fumbling around in Essos.

If you look at that last shot of her, she now has a shitload of troops, I hope she finishes some business with the Dothraki who abandoned her and then beelines it for Westeros with all the Unsullied.

I think she's still hung up on the Dothraki. They still call her Khaleesi and she said on the ship that if these Dothraki can follow her on ship, others can as well. Jorah even said you'll have a true Khalasar if you prove yourself strong.

Damn I didn't know Boardwalk opened so high.

Probably because it was being directed and/or produced (I forgot) by Martin Scorsese and advertised as such, so it attracted some decent hype. But it's a frankly boring TV show (I watched til early or mid-S2 before giving up) and very slow-paced* so I'm not surprised ratings are dropping.

* Note, I'm not saying boring is synonymous with slow-paced, but in this case, I think it's both. It had its moments, but it wasn't exciting or intriguing enough for me to keep watching.

Funnily enough I remember when GoT was announced but not yet greenlit by HBO, and some folks were analysing which shows could be the "competitors". There was some concern about Boardwalk Empire, because it's a high budget period piece and some thought, maybe HBO won't want to have two expensive "period" dramas, or if they do maybe Boardwalk will steal GoT's thunder because of the Scorsese name recognition and then GoT will get cancelled, etc... glad to see it wasn't nowhere near the case, in fact, GoT is trouncing Boardwalk in ratings now. :)

As a non-book reader, do I have to spoiler tag any speculation?

You don't have to tag anything. This thread is only for show talk, so nobody should be posting stuff that hasn't happened in the show. The same goes for speculation of course. The problem is if somebody posts something and others think it's a spoiler, for whatever reason.
First of all, never assume it's a spoiler, or else the whole point to speculation in the thread is lost. If you really really think it's a spoiler don't address it in the thread, PM a mod.
This goes for everyone reading the thread, book reader or non-book reader.

In fact, it has to be said especially for the book readers.

Now, I don't want to be a backseat mod, so I'll drop it :)

Literally what went through my mind at this part, haha.

Forgot to give my reaction for this episode... so AMAZING. The best ending to an episode we've had in a while. Even though I knew it was coming it still delivered <3

My only concern is that at this point Daenerys looks unstoppable, which isn't really a problem for me but at the same time I kinda expected her to go through more of a struggle to get her army together. It seems like she can get the throne quite easily now with the Unsullied along with her dragons, so I'm kinda anxious to see how Westeros would defend against her when the time comes.

Aside from that... Is the Hound going to die? :'( Seems like he's in a tight spot.

Also, I have a feeling Jamie and Brienne (love heerrrrr djfkasf) are going to make their escape pretty soon. What she told him seems to have woken him up a bit and will hopefully motivate him to think of a way out of their situation.

I was a part of that ratings drop for Boardwalk, I gave up on the show after 3 or 4 episodes, it was too slow on a week to week basis, but I came back and watched it again before season 2 because I heard it got much more exciting, and it did. I had no problem watching it on a week by week basis for seasons 2-3 though, it's a very good show.

There are only 8,000 unsullied. They're apparently amazing, sure, but Westeros has waaaaaay more people, and way more soldiers, and they'd probably unite against her. At least a few would. And her dragons aren't full grown yet at all, so they're not really a huge deal. They're nice to have, but I doubt they take down a place like Harrenhal like Aegon's did.

I am a book reader that watches this thread for potential spoilers hidden in speculation. I pm the mod over suspect stuff, because to do otherwise would confirm that the stuff they are 'speculating' about will come true.

Calling out folk for speculation spoilers in the real thread is just like saying 'Wow, you are totally right, that happens next episode, good job!'

Yeah I never really thought about numbers so I was never really sure if she over numbered their armies or not @___@ I guess it really does depend if the people of Westeros are willing to unite or not :S

Is DeafMutes a book reader as well? I wouldn't want to PM him and have him be spoiled as well then, if we feel we've got someone who has been subtly dropping real hints.

forreal. show did a HUGE turnaround in seasons 2 and 3. the villain in season 3 propelled it to best show of the year. not to mention that fan service moment with Richard Harrow holy fuck.

awesome show, HBO's best right now imo.

game of thrones is the one with pacing problems at the moment in comparison. but i suspect things are about to pick up big time now.

No he is not, as I found out sadly after reporting a potential spoiler :( Now I am going to try to word it better so as not to spoil him as much.

Every time I see Dianna Rigg in this it blows my mind. She's just so old, and she used to be so beautiful...

Anyway, yeah, the pacing is sort of getting to me. I'd almost rather they only showed two POV lines per episode, because jumping back and forth between five or six is getting a little crazy. Spend a half hour on each so that you get a better feeling for them. So much stuff is happening it's frustrating with all of the jumping around.

Hell yea be gone book readers! Read but don't post pretty easy if you have an ounce of self control

I don't get it. They have their own god damned thread

That's how most of us book readers feel as well. I for one watch the thread for reactions and to try and collar people who are hiding spoilers in speculation. Pretending they haven't read the books and posting spoilers so people will think they are clever and all. I only actually post here to talk about stuff like this, and once to answer a question someone asked about season one.

Edit: And hopefully, knowing that book readers are reporting people who obviously have read the books and are pretending they didn't will curb that sort of behavior.

thank you. Much appreciated. The not so clever prognosticators need to get a life. GAF is usually better than that or was in the past.

Agreed, it's what I've been doing as well.

We'll be on the lookout.

Boardwalk was a terrible bore in S3.

It's also my badge of honor.

Maybe I just suck shit at it.

Edit: I guess I nailed Dany turning against the slave trader and burninating him, but that was so damn obvious...
On the one side, it was; on the other side, i had this "They can't NOT do that" feeling all through the week.
Expected but satisfying nonetheless.

I bet Jaime is regretting not jumping off the bridge now. And I didn't foresee the slave master being this stupid

Yep, the Dany part was a little predictable, although its execution was what made great that scenes.

BW Season 3 was amazing.

Why is True Blood so popular? It's the worst thing HBO has ever shown. I guess The Walking Dead is also popular and that's a terrible show. People just like abscent minded super natural bullshit I guess.

It is fun trash with good looking, naked people and tons of zaniness.

Damn this is perfect. This is what fellow book readers should be doing. You guys can tell whether someone is dropping spoilers and pretending that it's just speculation. That way we don't get caught up in witch hunts and whatnot.

Scorsese helped develop the show and directed the pilot, so HBO advertised the shit out of Scorsese.

Yeah it's a bit funny that HBO (With Winter running the show and Scorsese being involved in developing and directing the pilot) that Boardwalk was going to be their next great and super popular drama like The Sopranos, while they kind of backed into Game of Thrones and had really be sold on the series. Now Game of Thrones is the one that's their biggest series (ever according to GRRM).

I've gone ahead and deleted the derail on the last page. Fiction has already explained the correct protocol for suspected spoilers, so do not highlight them like that in future.

Is there a mod who has read the books that we should report to? Because I'd hate to have a non-book reading mod get stuff spoiled for them.

Here, I quickly plotted out the season 3 numbers (didn't cross reference True Blood S3 numbers, so they're not absolutely accurate, more directional).

Note these numbers are just for the premiere viewing, not including encore.
