It only comes as 2 paperbacks in the UK/Europe. In North America it is a single book, both in hardcover and paperback editions. I don't know why that decisions was made, are books generally shorter in Europe, in terms of not exceeding 1000 pages or so?

No one wants to carry around a brick. My SoS GoT paperbacks were each about an inch and a half thick. Slapping them together into one would just result in the book falling apart eventually as the spine weakens.

We've met Balon's family: his son Theon and his daughter Yara. We haven't met Stannis' family.
