Edit: Also, people stanning for LTT is ridiculous. This is despite objective proof of wrong doing and gaslighting. WTF is wrong with some folks.

I think Linus probably has nothing to worry about when it comes to money. But if his company takes a subscriber or financial hit then it is Linus' own fault. And hits like these are usually the ones that result in the most reflection and self-improvement. LTT is in desperate need of that so maybe some regression is in order. I don't think anyone suggested Linus should go out of business or be in a position where he cannot pay his bills. SantaC SantaC simply asking the question certainly isn't saying that.

Pay his bills? Dude has made millions of dollars. One of the youtube channels with most views for many years. He can probably retire at any time.

People keep saying he is too negative but that's because vendors keep producing shit product and charge high prices. Where products reviewed are good GN praises it properly.

While I agree, I still like Linus and his group. I like that they're entertaining while giving me content about stuff that I like. Even if it's a bit corny at times. But, that's kind of their thing and it works for them.

What I don't like is that Linus is doubling down on the error's that LMG is making. It's especially awful that...he says the same shit we're accusing him of doing to others and then...doing what he's criticized other people for doing: doubling down. My how the tables have turned.

No it doesn't. Already agreed internally. Billet doesn't need to be aware of an incoming compensation offer at that point in order for his statement to be true.

He and his company have fucked up big time, don't get me wrong. I just think what he's said regarding the compensation could be getting misconstrued.

Their content quality went to shit. Linus is doubling down on bullshit, admit that he is doing that, but he isn't going to pay extra few hundred $ per video to make any changes.

Then he rips off a small startup and bashes them. They review a performance gaming mouse from a small company and don't bother to take off freaking protection film.

And a lot more. But sure, keep liking the scummy outfit. Hell, I subscribed to most of their channels for years, but this latest shit was the last straw. Fuck LTT and Linus unless they actually make an effort to change.

Oh don't get me wrong, I agree with you fully. I no longer subscribe to him and instead subbed to Gamers Nexus (Yes, I too, was shocked I wasn't already, especially since I always get their algorithm lol).

I won't go back to LTT until things change on their end and I hear that they have made said changes. The Billet Labs thing was just really disgusting in my eyes. That alone made me unsub from them.

Yeah, and what makes me more upset is that Linus used to produce pretty decent content till the fairly recent (~3 years) expansion. Then it all went to shit.

I guess got to chase that $$$.

Well that's part of the problem: he's doing way too much. Because now he has a ton of sponsors. It's kind of ridiculous how it's become a double-edged sword.

Just for some context this 24/7 live stream of prior content has been ongoing for a while now (Started July 6th, so over a month) and I believe is part of some test YouTube is doing with some larger channels, though I cannot find the place where I read that now so take with a grain of salt.

Bon Appétit (not strangers to their own controversy ironically enough) has also been doing it as well.

It isn't anything related to the GN video or the recent issues.
 
I've peeked at both channels from time to time. But this is much more entertaining than I first thought. The answer from Linus was a desaster. You would think that after so many years he would know how to deal with something like this, but no he writes an angry and childish answer and ignores many of the accusations.

Never liked LTT watched maybe 3 videos and there was something about him and the channel that didn't click with me.

This however is quite funny

Steve from GamerNexus can be pretty baised and inaccurate aswell. While researching my new PC build recently I watched his review for the 4070ti. Early in his video he shows 1 benchmark were the 3080 beats it by 2 frames at some old game at 1080P. He then says yeah the 4070ti beats it in some other games but this card is basically equal to the old 3080. He goes on atleast 4 or 5 times complaining how bad the 4070ti is for being new and " being equal to or worse than a 3080". At the end of his video I was sure the 4070ti was bad. I then watched Jay2cents review of the 4070ti were he shows a bunch of benchmarks,NOT JUST ONE, and shows the 4070ti basically equal to a 3090ti!

Further research I learned that yes at 1440p witch 4070ti will be used for by the majority it is indeed within 1% of a 3090ti! Yet one of Steves main arguements of LTT is the error on there 4090 video that "gives the potential consumer a misrepresentation of a cards power level" The exact same thing he did to me after I watched his 4070ti review.

Err the 4070Ti was a shit product for the price. I know, I bought one for 1020Euro. Steve is right, JayzNoSense has no idea of value for money(he already retracted a video because his benchmarks were out vs other channels). Trust GN not Jays2Cents or LTT.

Much like GN is a focused channel on the things they do, LTT has their hands in a broad arena and is far more entertaining. They serve different masters.
 
The original GN video was pretty damning but that Linus response in the forums put him in the 'piece of shit' category.

In higher than 1440p resolution 192 bit bus will hold 4070ti back and lower performance to 3080/ti levels. For 800$ that's quite fucking shitty design by Nvidia.
 
The thing that made me start questioning LTT's ethics was that whole LTT screwdriver. No one would fault them if they just took the megapro and charged twice the price considering all their merch is 2-4x the price. Instead they went on with a whole fking spiel about how they had to change manufacturers because the first ones werent up to standard, how it took 2 years of R&D. Holy fk you just licensed a Megapro.

Linus is the kind of dude that is often a massive prick for seemingly no reason at all. The farcical, vindictive and unnecessary treatment of the small start-up Billet Labs being a prime example. He happily creates video after video of his 'bad' experiences with various companies. Drones on and on about integrity, good-will and consumer friendly practices whilst pulling shit like this. The guy is a hypocrite and should at least take responsibility for his companies many errors. The funny thing is that GN only looked back over the past year. There are many many other instances of these same problems over the past decade.

Steve said 4070ti performance equals a stock 3080. It doesnt. Look at any 3d benchmark it equals a 3090ti.

Are you sure you aren't confusing GN's 4070 and 4070ti reviews? I just watched the benchmark portions of the 4070ti video and it does not match what you're describing. Steve is critical of the 4070ti, but most of their benchmarks show it performing similarly to the 3090ti.

Rightfully so? There's no error in his benchmarks for that video, i just checked with many other sites and they all fall in the same percentage.

Even in the best case scenario where you ignore when the 4070 Ti gets kneecapped in bandwidth at 4k and falls near the ~3% above 3080 territory in some games, at the best most favorable light, it's ~15% high avg than a 3080… while costing 15% more.. 2 and a half years later. Not to forget this was named 4080 12GB initially (@$899) which just exacerbates Nvidia's fleecing.

With the launch cost per frame matching a 3070...

It's a bad deal, there's no bullshit around it. That's one of the worst generational leap.

As crumbs crumbs said above, i think you're confusing cards, Steve went soft on the 4070Ti and its almost always compared to 3090Ti.
