I'm seriously hating Konami right now.
I want to shout out every horrible words i could come up with at Konamis executives faces.

I don't understand what benefit this brings Konami at all.

So you showed who is in charge but at what cost?

You lost your biggest figure. The one who sells only by putting his name on the box.

So you won the short fight now but what about your future?

That's some real bad management.

Kojima probably wanted to break free from MGS, Konami wouldn't have any of it. So, Kojima left.

Mid-project though?

I imagine that Konami wanted to do some development downtime lay-off's for the Kojima Productions team, and Kojima wasn't have having any of that. Something like that.

Is Konami fucking stupid?

Or is this another Kojima mindfuck.

Whatever it is, a sad day for Konami, not gaming. I'm sure Kojima will find new (better) publishers.

Will be great to finally have Kojima as a free bird, letting us see what else he has inside his imagination (hope it isn't movies though).

Many publishers out there have started moving money around to hire him and his team to make what they please. Yea, where Kojima goes, so go his long time teammates. Konami is letting a lot of talent go by freeing up one man.

Wonder how stifled Kojima will be in promoting MGSV. Konami is erasing him but the game is his baby. At the same time he probably isn't enthused about promoting for Konami.

Release the Kojima!

The exit is on your up up down down left right left right

What's happened has happened, what I don't understand is them taking off Kojima's (and his studio's) name off the fucking promo material. That's some sick shit right there/
It definitely smells like a bit of a personal grudge. Internal power struggles are often ugly, but the fallout here seems fairly extreme.

Winner writes the history books I suppose.

I still don't get it....is this some faux pride bullshit where Kojima got bigger than Konami and someone didn't like it?
This is not news I want to see after 17 hours at work....fucking dick nugget's.

Well, unless they miraculously start to make competent decisions, I guess this means Konami is dead. I just hope they sell their IPs to worthy companies.

Good luck to Kojima and KojiPro! This is probably the best thing that could have happened to the guy, he must be really tired of the series by now. Sad for Silent Hill fans, though.

If Konami really is going out the gaming business, then i hope someone can pony up the cash to buy the MGS franchise. Epic had no problem selling Gears which was a mega success, maybe a deal can be worked out. Not holding my breath since MGS is practically keeping Konami afloat but we'll see.

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”

This is worse than anyone thought, he's not even allowed to promote his own game. What the fuck!

Does that mean no more awesome trailers made by him for this game, as well? Ugh, why did this have to happen??? :(

Today is such a sad day...

I wonder if Kojima possibly finished up work on Phantom and was told by Konami that his next game would be another Metal Gear?

Possibly pulling him off Silent Hills?

I hope Kojima will be okay of course, but I am glad he is free of Konami.

I'm completely sure that Kojima will be OK. Microsoft, Sony, or even Amazon would want to throw money at him and his next studio.

Problem with this entire situation is we are looking at Kojima and his team. Yes they deserve better, yes they deserve a lot from Konami.

Konami is looking at this (theory and speculation so its utter bullshit) at the situation for what is best for Konami.

No company is one person. (well maybe Valve and an argument could be made for Apple) But look at MS it is not Bill Gates. Major publishing studios are not one individual. How Konami handled this situation so far is bad, but until we know why things went down the way they actually did and I doubt we will ever know. Perhaps Konami is honestly restructuring and trying to do a one company one name. They could not do this easily with how things were before all this shit hit the fan.

Does Konami even have any viable franchises left? Seems like they've systematically killed them all off one by one.

I imagine Microsoft is probably going make the hardest push. They would get Japanese credibility (not that it matters much) and a developer who not only sells shitloads of games but can also help develop their own internal engines.

I feel like the drugs people have to be hopped up on to seriously believe Microsoft is going to make investments in Japan and Japanese game devs should be so potent they'd prevent people from posting on the internet, but it seems like we've gotten quite a few of them today!

Microsoft BOUGHT a Sakaguchi owned studio and financed his games, and this was when Sakaguchi was a bigger name (in Japan) than Kojima. It failed. The Xbox One sold just a hair over 50k consoles in Japan. It's one of the worst console launches in ALL OF VIDEO GAMES. If you think Microsoft is going to just spend hundreds of millions of dollars to finance Kojima's games, build a studio for him, etc after all of that... You bought the wrong console and I'm terribly sorry.

The game is probably more than midway done. But you are probably right, since Konami is so freaking cheap.

MS are quite happy using UE4 I would expect given that they are heavily relying on it for both internal and partner studios development. I can't see him ever rocking up as MS though, he will either start a new studio and get a publisher or go to Sony imo, I'm sure they would move heaven and earth to have him.

Microsoft has been serious recently about reforming their studios and the quality of their games. If they have the option for a custom engine route I could see them taking it just to maximize whatever they can get out of the Xbone. Microsoft just has much more to gain out of hiring the core staff at KojiPro compared to Sony who have the excellent ICE teams working everywhere.

He might do a limited publishing deal with either Microsoft or Sony similar to Respawn/EA or Bungie/Activision.

This isn't about the Japanese market. His games sell extremely well in the West.
