Maybe Kojima will get Cihi'd by Konami?

What's the story behind this?

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
After almost 28 years, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be the very last Metal Gear anybody gets from Hideo Kojima. End of an era.

What's the story behind this?

On further reading I believe the voice actor for Silent Hill 2's James Sunderland didn't want his face to appear in the original making-of DVD, so it was blurred for release.

It might have been a union deal, like with MGS1's actors hiding their names.

Nevermind v

Guy Cihi, the voice actor and actor actor of James from Silent Hill 2 (he also did motion capture).

And yeah, they blurred his face out. And he is not mentioned by name in the Making Of at all. Konami also didn't even tell him that they published a making of.

This is rally upsetting to see this happen. I really hope this has no effect on MGS V in any negative way.

My thoughts are that, Konami wasn't ready to end the MGS series. And Kojima wants it to finally end here with MGSV.

I am curious to see what will happen with Silent Hills.
Del Toro, and Kojima were in this together.

Well, Kojima wont be out of a job very long when he leaves. Assuming he doesnt start his own studio, id imagine nearly all major developers would be chomping at the bit to get him on their team.

They did this to the voice actor of Silent Hill 2's protagonist?

They're incompetents. I'm sure of that.

Imagine Kojima going to Nintendo. I mean isn't Miyamoto somebody he idolises? SHIT.

Why not Platinum? That way he can still work with Nintendo. (and everyone else as well)

He's probably in the responsibility for 90% of Konami's output post-PS2 in some form or fashion. They're entirely fitness and mobile soon, shuffling off everyone who isn't useful for that. No Fox Engine games. No in-house Metal Gears, no in-house Silent Hill(s), no in-house Castlevanias, no more revived IP, no nuffin'. Going out like Hudson that they bought.

Holy shit... Really shocked about this news. It's one thing to part ways, but things must be really bad between them for Konami to remove all Kojima branding. I mean fuck, to have your name removed from your own game...

As a longtime Metal Gear fan, admittingly questioning the direction the franchise is/was going after MGS4, I'm still saddened this is happening. I admire Kojima very much and wish him and his talented team the very best at whatever may come next. "A Hideo Kojima Game" really means something after all...

The "behind the scenes, the making of MGSV" bluray will now take on a very special meaning...I wonder will it touch on this?

correct about everything
Konami basically own pretty everything Kojima has done in his entire video game career. This is a sad reality about working under a big corporation. You pour your hearth into your works for decades but in the end all of your hard works go into the company and you end up with nothing just like when you started.

that's true when you're a no-name, but you can hardly say kojima ended up with nothing. he probably can't make more metal gear games if konami won't let him, but with his rep he will have tons of opportunities.

If true, I feel like this makes P.T. even more special. A kind of one-off SH game -- the only thing we'll get from Kojima and co. on the series.

Man, end of an era.

I don't even have big of an attachment to MGS (Though I love some of his other stuff, like Snatcher and ZoE), but it's still one hell of a bummer to see play out.

Kojima needs to team up with Valve. Then he can really say he will never make another Metal Gear and mean it.

This is very sad news though. I hope it all works out in the end.

While I'm not happy with how Kojima is leaving, I'm hopeful that he can regain a certain degree of freedom to make another game like ZOE or Snatcher.

I have a feeling that Konami would edit out cut scenes that Kojima is in...
So basically it would be like other devs working on 3D models or voice actor/actress interviews etc...
I mean look at Konami erasing every bit of whats left of Kojima.

This guy is going to have job offers up the whazoo. The bidding war might get pretty crazy. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. I bet he starts his own studio and he'll be able to attract the top talent pretty easily.

This sucks :'(
but Kojima productions was such an odd outlier in modern day Konami anyway.

Can't wait to have a kojima studio that isn't tied to shitty konami.

Sounds like the higher ups at Konami weren't too happy with the common perception that Kojima (and his studio) is Konami. The backstory to this should be interesting.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Ha, and people pointed towards SH as to why he is willing to do non-MGS titles too.
