GameSpot: Kojima to leave Konami after MGSV, power struggle, communications embargo

Obvious troll bait, but I'll take this guy's "movies" over 99% of the "games" out there. Kojima is one of the legendary figures in this industry.

He's the reason Konami is in this position to begin with. All of the budget spent on MGS and not much room left for creativity. Before MGS, Konami has tons of franchises and makes games of all genres.

I bet there is whole book full of Kojimas ideas for future metal gear games. Like the one with boss and the cobra unit during ww2.
Realistically, would anyone remaining at either Konami or Kojima Productions be capable of realizing any of his ideas as actual games without him even if he did have such a thing? The original Kojima Productions Metal Gear Solid: Rising demonstrated what happened the last time he went completely hands off with a project handled over there.

The "behind the scenes, the making of MGSV" bluray will now take on a very special meaning...I wonder will it touch on this?

it'll be as fair and balanced as this...

Lol wtf. Konami just hasn't had much success other than MGS recently.

Um he is the reason they messed up Castlevania and ZOE, and Silent Hill?

Let me guess. America didn't really land on the moon either.

Hooooly shit!

Konami is such a dumbfuck company, this is an incredible loss for them. I hope Kojima and his team/studio can become independent or something.

¨

Does this mean MGSV really is the last MGS game...?

Independent means no money to make the big games we know he wants to make.

Oh, I'm sure there would be an absolute shit ton of people who'd back a Kickstarter if he ever created one. It would not surprise me one bit if it were to go over Star Citizen's final amount.

Not necessarily. There are models of a studio being independent but still receiving significant funding from a publisher.

This too.

Thing is, Platinum has almost NO control over Scalebound. Ken Lobb implied pretty implicitly that Platinum came to MS looking for a hit in the West, and Microsoft Game Studios is pretty significantly involved in the project. And of course, from the artstyle - you can pretty easily tell that too. Kojima on the other hand has enough clout worldwide that he would need full control of the ip, and again that costs a lot of money.

What the hell are you talking about? Even Kamiya has said it's always been his dream to create a large scale dragon game since his obsession with dragons in his childhood and he is leading the development of the game.

Played Twin Snakes. It's not a bad game, but it's not a great game either. Kojima's a one trick pony.

You played an unbalanced remake with janky comtrols made by another developer that didn`t have the levels of polish and ambition of Kojima`s projects.

Hell the game looked worse than MGS2 while being released later on more powerful hardware.

So, Kojima's gonna pack up his team and get a Kickstarter rolling for a side project, ala Inafune. Any takers?

Let me guess. America didn't really land on the moon either.

Nope, a few guys did.
America remained planet side, as it's a continent.
Half Life 3 confirmed.

Instead of being bought out by one of the big 3, i imagine he'll end up like Sakaguchi doing contract work (and, like Sakaguchi, we'll likely see the big 3 funding a project or two)
Also, mobile

The behind the scenes Blu Ray will be an interesting experience. I just asked ToraShiro the other day if the content between the Japanese and all other versions would be the same and he said he would look into it closer to the editing phase. Now I wonder how much different it will be for a variety of other reasons.

The silver lining to all of this, is that Hideo Kojima is finally free to create all of those games that he has been wanting to make for many years - the one's he's mentioned in numerous interviews that have been on his mind for quite some time. I eagerly await playing those games.

Your posts in this thread suck. It's either obvious trolling or just pain shitposting. You have no idea what you are talking about, and don't even have experience with a game he developed.

Huge news. Not exactly sure what to make of it all. But hopefully Kojima finds a new home soon so he can continue putting out great games.

I hope this is his greatest Metal Gear game ever because it's the last one we'll probably ever see again. The next one will be outsourced to some Western developer with a bunch of bad games on their resume.

End of an era.
