It's not the earth it stands on. It's more like that shed way in the back of their backyard they've been neglecting for a while now.I can't believe Konami is salting the earth that their own company stands on just to satiate their own egos.
Incompetence of the highest caliber.
Seriously, what the hell is wrong with Konami?
They're literally sending away their only man and studio that makes them any money...
After all these years of working for them, this is what they treat him and his team?
Fuck Konami

Well it's a good thing we'll get to see all of these awesome new titles with the Fox Engine, right guys?
RIGHT???
It's not the earth it stands on. It's more like that shed way in the back of their backyard they've been neglecting for a while now.
The main house is still standing strong.
It doesn't matter. The company is done outside of licensing Metal Gear to Platinum and annual Pro Evolution Soccer releases.Seriously, what the hell is wrong with Konami?

Sony makes the most sense for Kojima. I'd be surprised if there wasn't already contact between them now.

Castlevania as we know it is done.
Silent Hills is done.
Suikoden is done.
In-house developed Metal Gear is done.
There is nothing else. Good riddance. Enjoy making mobile games.
It's too bad that this is how Metal Gear ends.

At least we'll finally see The Last Guardian release now.Sony makes the most sense for Kojima. I'd be surprised if there wasn't already contact between them now.
Nintendo, jump on this opportunity. Fuck Konami
Guessing there's not gonna be a Kojima Station episode next week.
I do too. I hope he can get most of his staff to jump ship with him, but most will probably be lost in the shuffle. The behind the scenes Blu Ray will be an interesting experience. I just asked ToraShiro the other day if the content between the Japanese and all other versions would be the same and he said he would look into it closer to the editing phase. Now I wonder how much different it will be for a variety of other reasons.
The silver lining to all of this, is that Hideo Kojima is finally free to create all of those games that he has been wanting to make for many years - the one's he's mentioned in numerous interviews that have been on his mind for quite some time. I eagerly await playing those games.
Wait, is this something we know happened?I think, if anything, that was an honorary title of "We'll pay you more".
And he probably tried to save his team from the lay-off's that occurred on Monday using his clout and Konami decided that they could do without him.
Yeah, anyone thinking FOX engine is owned by any entity but Konami are unfortunately not facing reality. Konami will let the investment rot, and it will only power the masterpieces P.T., Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain.Zero chance. Fox Engine was funded by Konami just as everything else Kojima and Kojipro has made. It is owned by Konami. There's no ambiguity about it.
There is no way that can get away with writing him out of the credits. The game just won't have "A Hideo Kojima Game" in the beginning most likely. Any "Kojima is god" shenanigans might be axed too..Unreal... so wait.. Kojima's name won't even be in the finished product of MGS5 now?

hehe
What i dont understand is... Why do this now? If you are Konami the smart thing to do would be to wait until MGSV is released 2-3 months then let shit hit the fan.
Now only thing their move creates is doubt and skepticism...
I'm guessing it's more about how Japan seems to be not really interested in the current generation of consoles. I'm sure Kojima wants to make big console games, but Konami has decided that this little side business isn't worth the money and risks, and they'd rather focus on their core businesses. Why did he waste his time on developing his own engine?
Could this be part if the reason he is leaving. An engine is really expensive and it has been in developmeny for 7 years? And used in 2 games so far with no word about licensing etc..
A big waste of $$ from konamis point of view at least
Serious question - so what does Konami make now with all the studios / lead designers (Castlevania, MG, Suikoden, etc) gone? I know there's PES but that's being beat by FIFA pretty badly. Anything else? I don't even know what mobile games they make.
So, is Silent Hills is dead?

I hope you're joking.
And pay the studio and its employees for another 3 months without them working? No the start of the new fiscal year is a good time to do this in combination with MGS V being done. What i dont understand is... Why do this now? April Fools day joke?
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I don't know much about that so I didn't want to say it.Konami and Sega have found success in slot machine development.
Sega hasn't gone to Americas yet, but Konami has.
I know most people here are just video gamers, but yeah.
It's probably not dead but it won't be "A Hideo Kojima Game". That's for damn sure.
It only shows up if you have GAF Gold.lol, I changed the theme to see if it really was there.
