What's stopping him from making MGSV the buggiest game of all time (Battlefield 4-esque) so it gets poor reviews and Konami eats it?? That probably won't happen since he feels like this title is part of his legacy...

I still feel like he could pull a Kojima twist and stick it to them in the end.

Nah, he's got class.

He was telling the fucking truth!

I dont understand why Konami would do that, they depend on Kojima and his MG games to live. end of an era, but maybe Kojima can finally do what he wanted, no more Metal Gear.

Soon

Seriously though, I hope Sony are scrambling to sign him on.

Like I said it's a little too extreme.
Movie directors have done Shit and still got "A (instert name) Film" in the credits because it's still their film.
just saying this is a little OTT.

Kojima is orchestrating the whole thing and it's his next stunt to announce MGS 6 which will actually release next week, BEFORE phantom pain.

Can someone PM my avatar with the Kojima production tag?

Where he goes will be absolute gigaton news. If he's considering first party studios, feel absolutely go to Sony cause he's such a big PS fanboy. I'm not sure he'd want to limit his platforms though.

"The body I've lost... the comrades I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there. You feel it, too, don't you? I'm gonna make them give back our past."
I'm glad to see the memes of our comrades spreads so quickly :).

It was done before you asked friend. I just realized I don't know how I'm going to actually give it to you though :p. I'm looking up my Dropbox password, but in the mean time, do you think a PM works?

sure try that

There's also a difference between "credited as director" and "A BLAH BLAH FILM" in the middle of the poster. It's become increasingly obvious over the day that this isn't an amazingly happy split, but there's still a huge broad range of middle ground, that could come from either side, between Kojima-as-marketing-centerpiece and the game getting Smitheed.

SILENT HILLS!!

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

This is what hurts the most to me. I was so excited to see Kojima not only working on a not Metal Gear game, but a horror game. MGS is a series known for it's mindfucks, and I would have LOVED to see the fuckery he would have gotten into in the SH franchise.

I'll never give Konami my money ever again. I'll be buying MGSV second hand.

This is great. Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear any more.

The guy obviously has a ton of ideas that don't really work within the story and gameplay confines of Metal Gear. PT proved that, and it was the most interesting thing the guy has done in a long damn time.

I'm sorry to Metal Gear fans, but then again you guys have monopolized the output of a lot of very talented people for almost 20 years now!

Yeah, it's exciting news actually. The only hope is that he doesn't get stuck somewhere making mobile games. He needs big, big funding. No, not you MS thx :)

As much as I enjoy the Metal Gear games, I gotta say I think I'm okay with him moving on to different games. He's been wanting to do something else for YEARS, but always ends up coming back to Metal Gear, likely because of Konami (who I imagine likes printing money).

I'm looking forward to what he makes now, because Revengeance was AMAZING.

It's the Del Toro curse, it took THQ and it will take Konami.

This link implies so. 'Restructuring'.

There was a better translation floating around.
Damn. We'll make diamonds out of their ashes, and bring them into battle with us. (Ok, maybe I'm stretching the MGSV quotes now, but still)
And I'm hoping...For some miracle...
To break out...To escape from all this...
Yeah, this isn't happening. According to the source he even imparted that he wanted the team to keep doing well for the fans. Kojima loves the people who love his games. He spends hours every week just retweeting cool metal gear fan stuff.
Yeah, Kojima's good people.
Glad you could join us.
sure try that
Will do.

Can I get one please?
Would try myself but no pc currently.

Sure thing D Dog.

My comrades.

Here's to you Nicola and Bart, rest forever here in our hearts
the last and final moment is yours, that agony is your triumph.

I've had my MGSV music playlist on repeat since this began. I can't peel myself from my seat, I won't stop until we get more MGS fans to join us with their avatars!

Wow that is laughable for Konami. What other quality franchises do they even have left at this point? Firing/laying out Kojima Productions is an absolute idiotic maneuver given that the MGS series is highly acclaimed and is one of their top selling brands. Now they are getting rid of a team that consistently delivered quality products? What's more insulting is that they are doing this to the studio months before the damn game even releases.

Whoever takes over for the franchise won't be able to deliver the quality its known for, and a "power struggle" with Kojima? Give me a break.

Man I really hate corporations.

I wish Kojima and that entire team well in the future and hope konami learns to get his head that is so firmly up its ass out of there.

strange the suits would let this happen. even the most clueless business-types must understand that visionary talent is hard to replace.

Sad news; while I'm not nearly as crazy about Metal Gear like a lot of folks here (I haven't played Ground Zeroes and haven't even really been looking much into Phantom Pain) I absolutely adore MGS 1-4, MGS4 was what I bought a PS3 for. I agree with the sentiment that Kojima is super talented and crazy, and I've always wanted to see him able to do something else...just not like this.

This better not affect Rising 2, which is most definitely 100% in development and not at all, not a thing.

FUCK, I didn't even think about that :(

Yeah, get on twitter with the hashtag: #AHIDEOKOJIMAGAME

Bombard Konami's accounts everywhere. We should not stay quiet about this.

Except they don't. Console games are a minor part of Konami's business.

What the hell does Konami have without kojima? What is this corporate structure that causes Japanese executives to be so bad at their jobs? Konami, Capcom, SE it's crazy how inept they all are.

Konami has done fucking up.

What do they have left now? Just a shell of MGS? Without its creator it'd have the same fate as Silent Hill. Oh God, what will happen to Silent Hills now Kojima is leaving?

They have nothing. I'm assuming they'll outsource MGS just like they tried to do with Castlevania.

So what does this mean for E3 and stuff, Kojima can't promote the game anymore or something? No more chopper pics on twitter, no more Kojima Stations? No release date world tour?

Why I think it's a troll: the way they erased kojimas name is incredibly similar to how skull face erases XOF.

Why I don't think its a troll: this affects too many people. A fake game studio making a game, fine whatever, that doesn't hurt anyone. But insinuating power and struggles and job losses at a major companies affects more than just Kojima.

I'm believing the former. It's all a ruse
right?
;_;

Such a sad end to a fantastic franchise, studio and creative direction.

I have literally no clue what Konami's end game is here, but they're not doing themselves any favors by axing their greatest asset in the console sector.

A very successful gambling, mobile and health/wellness business core that doesn't carry the risks of modern AAA game development?

It's unfortunate, but moving out of the console business is an understandable move.

On one side, it's kind of sad that Metal Gear is going to be left in the hands of a company who, obviously, don't care about it.

On the other hand, Kojima will be free to make whatever he wants.

I don't get the sadness. It's long, long, looooong overdue that Kojima works on something other than MGS. I'm legitimately surprised he agreed to work on 5.

Konami has done about fuckall without Kojima, so him parting ways isn't much of a bad thing.

Sucks bad for the studio though, hope things shake out well for them.
