GameTrailers, EasyAllies' Brandon Jones retires from gaming VO

My favorite gaming male VO retires this next May. I enjoyed his work for almost two decades, since the glorious GameTrailers days to the EasyAllies adventure. Now he's leaving to be a family man.
The end of an era for me. Farewell, cowboy.

The madlad actually listened to him.

And another giant retires. Aftyer Kyle quit, the quality of their group plumeted. Then Ian became what he is now, and I knew that that group which I once loved was gone. This news just basically confirms it.

I wish him all the best in his new endevours, and hope he creates a great family. It was good while this lasted, but nothing is meant to exist forever.

I don't follow them outside of catching a review here or there what happened with the community? Ben, blood worth seemed decent?

I mean more the fans pushing/forcing things on the EZAllies proper. I remember well that Brandon was Harassed for months for doing an interview with Colin Moriarty. Sadly the Allies continued to put focus on that segment of the community (Era/Twitter) to the detriment of the group, IMO.

Damn. Fuck EZA.

Brandon has accomplished a lot. Being a stay at home dad to me shows integrity. He knows what's important in life.

I don't know if it was that exactly, but there's no doubt there has been almost no fun in the two years since Kyle's departure.

I don't think it is the only reason, but it was definitely a contributing factor for myself and many other former fans. Watched them ever since Game Trailers, but was "pushed out" by the toxic community. It was their way or the highway and if you ever did anything that was considered "bad" by them you were ostracIzed and demonized. I mostly lurked aside from the first year or so of EZA creation. It only got more hateful and toxic.

Genuinely glad Brandon got out and can focus on what is important. Hope the others can see the light soon enough.

With Ethan wearing dresses and being mentally unstable good luck.

If he and other toxic bullshitters left maybe? But I can see Brandon being oldest not wanting to deal with a community that's toxic if you don't allign with their views. And him being a dad I would distance myself from people who wear dresses and literally have mental issues.

I wish him the best.
It's been nice to see someone familiar throughout the years, especially when they haven't gone woke like some have.

So it's sad to see him go.

Whether you agree with it or not, Brandon was very supportive of Ian and his Transition to Isla. He's a great guy.

The group is still great, I love Ben and Huber - but I do miss Kyle a ton.

Good for him. It's gotta be incredibly draining dealing with the bs all the time.

As for EZA, I also dropped them almost immediately after Kyle left. When they had a celebration video for Mrs. Ian I knew they had nothing left for me.

It's a shame because Bloodworth and Ben are both great at discussing and reviewing games when they aren't dragged along into social wars. Would watch a channel with just the two of them I think.

Best of luck to him. He was one of the sane ones in the industry. I honestly don't see how EZA is going to survive long-term at the trajectory they're going.

Damn, sucks to see Jones go!

No problem with Ian going Isla or any of the "woke" stuff, it is what it is... that stuff never really bothered me much. Kyle is severely missed, his manic, wild, strange humor was great. I still support them on Patreon and catch their videos from time to time, but I never actually saw any of the toxicity that ppl are mentioning, but then again... I never joined their forum or interacted on the Patreon, so I might have just missed all that.

Kyle was obviously the one with the funny bits and had great different takes on things. Without him the rest of the allies are pretty one note and not that funny. I was hoping for an Elden Ring song like the one they did for Bloodborne.
I think it also doesn't help that they're basically the only group talking about videos games on youtube with zero hot takes. They stay positive and try not to rock any boat so much that it's just stale.

"I'm not being poisoned by rage drugs like testosterone anymore"

This is the state of Easy Allies right now.

Honestly, once Kyle left the channel went on life support and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the final nail in the coffin. I want them to be succesful and recapture what they had, and I even like Ian/Isla when they aren't being fucking insane, but I think it might be over.

Good luck to him. His voice was the best for reviews etc. I stopped watching Eza around the time Disney dropped the infinity figures and I remember Brandon being bummed about it. Had no idea Ian transitioned or Kyle left tbh. I stopped watching mainstream gaming reviews etc years ago.

Who else of the old gen are left: Jeff G and Adam ' I came out of retirement because all the coke is gone' Sesslar are the only ones I can think of.

damn he's one of my faves on easy allies. he's been around less lately tho. Bossman leaving didn't really effect that channel. But Jones leaving will make it feel different.

If Huber left i would stop watching maybe. Ian's annoying sometimes. But mostly because he's one of those Dark Souls is the only good game that exists type of ppl. But he's also the funniest one of the bunch

One of the most iconic voices in games media. Good luck to him and hopefully he finds success and happiness in whatever he does next.
He has always seemed like a genuinely great guy and as far as I'm aware he was also one of the people trying to keeps politics out of Easy Allies (to varying degrees of success) so it's a shame to see him go.

As for EZA, honestly I give them a year tops. Patreon numbers seem down, they announced some changes which seem insubstantial (alongside an ugly new logo), with no Kyle and now no Brandon they have lost their 2 most iconic and well known people, and with Isla now in a more important position things are probably going to get more woke.

If/when they close down hopefully some of them keep a podcast around as a side gig. I'd pay $5 a month for a weekly Frametrap with Ben, Huber and Brad.

Crazy to think I liked the VO the same if not more than the reviews. Was a good reason I went to game trailers back in the day.

Finally get a face to the name.

Thank you.

Ben, Huber, Brad, and Blood. Just how they once were without walking on eggshells. I would love to see that.

Isla, Damiani, and Ethan are terrible and actively bring down the show. If anything I hope Colin Moriarty reaches out. Would be able to see a return to form for the aforementioned 4 with his network.

I miss what they used to be. The podcasts used to be utterly fantastic for their coverage. I fell off HARD a few years ago though

Yeah Blood is good too. If those 4 just start a podcast that would be great.
I was an EZA patreon for the first few years but then I realized I was only really listening to their 2 podcasts (the main one and frametrap) and some reviews. Never cared much for their other stuff and I couldn't care less about streams.

Honestly Isla wouldn't be too bad if only she could keep the woke crap out. Daminai is insufferable though

Damn, that's a huge loss. He was the lifeblood of Gametrailers/Easy Allies and easily their best talent by a mile.

I feel bad for saying this but I don't know if I could watch their stuff without him. He's that important to my enjoyment of their content.

Is Isla like way different in other aspects of the media? In the podcast she seems perfectly fine. Damiani is way worse.

Anyways, good for him.

While EZA has been going through many changes that I'm not agreeing with, I hope Brandon and family all the best.

Goodbye, old friend.

If Brandon had gone anywhere else, he would have been a bigger and more iconic game reviewer with that voice of his.

He should have pulled a Karak, and just do his own thing.

His voice reviewing games would still be sought after way past any other group he works with.

Once Kyle left I've struggled with the group but Brandon was always like a fine whiskey that felt comfortable. I'm not sure whether Easy Allies have anyone as comfortable presenting as him and Kyle so I've always found it he shows without them to be pretty monotone or unengaging.

I do wonder what will happen to the patreon numbers.

This industry just lost a legend, Brandon is one of the most wholesome guys out there, and entertaining beyond just the iconic voice.

I love Bloodworth and Ben but they're on the quiet side and can get drowned out by the others. I rarely watch EZA content since Bosman left, but I'll still watch their Hall of Greats and GOTY videos just to skip to Bloodworth's and Ben's picks as they give great insight into their choices, and are rather diverse in their tastes.

Would definitely listen to a podcast/show with just them.

Like many others I was a fan of GT. They were the first with actual video content afaik. Got a good look at games back then by showing actual gameplay.

EZA started out great but then Bosman left and apparently they went SJW. Thats where I kinda stopped following them.

Salute Brandon! Memories Of hearing your voice in all the GT reviews i watched back in the day.

go enjoy the family life. love and respect!
