GameTrailers, EasyAllies' Brandon Jones retires from gaming VO

I remember him from Gametrailers.com, but when that site shut down, it was around the same time I stopped visiting game sites altogether so I didn't even know he was still in games. Best of luck to him in his future endeavors.

Their Patreon numbers are tanking so no surprise. Him, Blood, Huber and Ben have been carrying Ian and Damiani for years. Literally nobody would pay to see those two clowns.

Good for him, I did wonder when he stopped podcasting for a while to look after his sick son if he'd return. A guy like that can find more than enough easy work that lets him spend more time with his family.

What this means for EZA I don't know, I like Bloodworth but he's not suited to hosting those shows. Feels like they're gonna GiantBomb and just implode eventually with too many departures.

A shame to see him go but hope he's happy in whatever he does next!
Kinda glad it gives me an excuse to stop following EZA now though. It's become purely the Ian/Isla show since *THE CHANGE* and they've become insufferable.
Maybe Ben and Huber can take Bloodworth and start something else on their own but don't see that happening.

If he was the voice for the Cod 4 review on Gametrailers back in the day, then thank you for your work; That was one of my favorite reviews, ever.

Are we all Gametrailers forum refugees here?

I know i am, i only came to GAF after Gametrailers closed down.

I can hear his voice now on all those reviews, good times :)

Sadly once Kyle left my interest dropped and once it became clear they were going down woke route, I gave up. Never liked Ian and like them even less as Isla. With Brandon gone it's only a matter of time before the whole thing sinks.

They have said they need $40,000 a month to stay afloat (No idea how tbh) and they are nowhere near that... and that was BEFORE Brandon announced leaving.

It's a real shame, it was working quite nicely at the start but its clear it's been ruined now.

GT Forums was wild back in the day.

General Discussion was like S-tier shitposting all the time. But still a really solid community, I really enjoyed my time there.

Iconic voice, was a big fan of GT and EZ in the beginning until I noticed the woke nonsense taking over. Good luck Brandon, thanks for the memories.

Did the guys make enough bank that he can afford that or does his wife make a lot of money?
Anyways always enoyed his stuff. Respect.

Sad to see Jones retire, been watching him since the GT days, things won't be the same without him but good on him for wanting yo focus on his family, wish him the best.

Good for him.
EZA started out great but then Bosman left and apparently they went SJW. Thats where I kinda stopped following them.
They "went SJW" long before Bosman left. I remember the exact moment when the tide turned: during a group stream where the guys played Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 (the volleyball game). Some feminists in chat (including their own mods) got upset that the guys were having fun playing the game, and that was the turning point for them. If I remember correctly, the game was even chosen by the community but the vocal minority won out in the end, and they stopped taking suggestions for games to play as a result.

Its a shame because that first year was pretty good, aside from Ian being obnoxious as usual.

There was another incident. The Peach Beach Splash Implosion. The majority voted for Peach Beach, but a few bitter, angry, and joyless folks demanded it be banned and something else had to be played.

It was around that time that a lot of friends and old buddies of mine from the GT days just gave up and stopped watching.

Game Trailers was one of the G.O.A.T sites out there.....who could forget Screw Attack? It was through there that I came across A.V.G.N...20 odd years ago

I actually forgot about that, but upon reading up on it (sidenote: I completely forgot that Ben used to frequent GAF's EZA thread), I believe that was the final nail in the coffin for me as well.

Anyway, after looking at their Patreon numbers it's easy to see why Brandon is bowing out:
They were at an all-time low, but they're currently running a fundraiser so they're slightly higher at the moment.

I remember how big it was that they hit the 50K mark. Now they are so far away from that. Insane.

I stopped pledging around that time. Too many issues were piling up and a bad community actively turns me away from watching a groups content.

I was excited when they started EZA. Love Huber, Kyle, Blood, Brad and Brandon. Didnt always agree with all of them but thought they were a lot of fun. I had never contributed to anything before and have not since.

But I remember before leaving... I had written a note to Brandon just explaining that there were people in the country who simply voted on the issues that mattered most to them.. and that it didn't make them hateful, etc. I can't remember the specific incident that triggered it... But the letter itself was basic common sense stuff, really. He responded to me. He was kind, understanding and receptive and overall I feel he's a great guy. At the end of the day he just couldn't rally his squad around that way of thinking. I stopped giving shortly after. I hope he's enjoying life with the family.

Well said. I hope he does well wherever life leads him.

So is there any podcast that similar to the old EZA that you guys would recommend?

Yeah I think the most they had at the height of their popularity was $50K but that was when Kyle was still around. Kyle leaving + the pandemic has had their numbers dropping steadily and now with Brandom leaving I can only see the trend continuing.

What's weird to me is that their number keep dropping but they haven't done anything major to try and address that. The "don't fix what ain't broke" mentality only works if you are getting enough money to continue existing. Alongside Brandon leaving they announced some other changes but they all seem like minor stuff to address some feedback from their community, to survive they'd need to do bigger changes in an attempt to get a bigger audience.

Also they seemingly want to make Isla more of a "face" of the company and I can't see that doing anything other than further limiting the appeal.

Those numbers look bleak, especially considering Jones isn't gone yet. I guess EZA is kind of fucked. Thats what you get for pandering to a vocal minority. Wouldn't be surprised if Huber bails out as well.

I don't think it is the only reason, but it was definitely a contributing factor for myself and many other former fans. Watched them ever since Game Trailers, but was "pushed out" by the toxic community. It was their way or the highway and if you ever did anything that was considered "bad" by them you were ostracIzed and demonized. I mostly lurked aside from the first year or so of EZA creation. It only got more hateful and toxic.

Genuinely glad Brandon got out and can focus on what is important. Hope the others can see the light soon enough.
Surely you misspelt ERA there ;)

With Bossman and Jones gone, Eazy Allies is nonexistent. The only real personality they have left is Huber. But I quit before bossman left because of how awful the one guy was that ran the tech.

With Ethan wearing dresses and being mentally unstable good luck.

If he and other toxic bullshitters left maybe? But I can see Brandon being oldest not wanting to deal with a community that's toxic if you don't allign with their views. And him being a dad I would distance myself from people who wear dresses and literally have mental issues.
Ugh people and their DRESSES.

TBH Jones has been a bit dry. He was just for VO.

I still like Bloodworth and Ben, but that's about it. Isla isn't as bad as I expected TBH, Huber likes too many shit games, Damiani is atrocious, Brad is Brad.

Don I am pretty sure has other jobs going on.

EZA could end soon.

I think a big difference about EZA is that even with Brandon leaving it's still 6 people (+ Don who I'm pretty sure has other jobs) working on this full time in what I understand to be one of the most expensive cities in the USA.
For comparison something like Nextlander doesn't only have more patrons, it's also only 3 guys.

Brad is great. Honestly seems like the most "normal" and least woke of them.
Though maybe I just like him because he seems to have the most similar taste in games to my own.

Yeah indeed, and Collin on his own had 4k subs before expanding his staff. It's only gotten bigger and bigger since he added Chris and whoever else.

Yup.
Kyle alone has almost 1000 patrons and he is literally just doing a weekly 10-15 minutes show in his living room (with occasional breaks after a "season").

I didn't think KF would be at the bottom of this group, as Greg always seemed like one of the more popular figures in the industry. I know they've made some very divisive statements, so I can understand that contributing, but I am still surprised.

Guess what happened here:

Hint: exactly what you think happened. People saw Greg throw Collin under the bus and dipped and it got worse and worse. Only recently coming back a little.

I'm not that surprised.

Miller is a whiny shill. And that Blessing fellow they have on the show is the most boring man in the charted galaxy.

Got a link to this? Colin was always the best part of beyond to me. Whatever happened to Roper?
