Switch 2 Display Tested. Afterimage is due to "incredibly slow" response time

And some of us are seeing the after image and some of us are not. Could be different eyes seeing different things, I suppose.

It's not even about seeing it, being that is subjective, some may, some may not. It is simply about posting a video where it does not exist, then you will have succeeded in proving there's a panel lottery. Until someone actually possesses a panel which does not do it, there's no reason to believe that is the case.

I was clearly speculating about the panel lottery my man. And that was based only on what people are saying. Yes, we would need more evidence to say one way or another for certain.

Its poor response times don't make it a bad screen overall. In fact, its color quality is much better than the Steam Deck LCD, and there's no bleeding. The rest of the specs are on par with a good IPS panel.

Of course, it could be better with local dimming for real HDR and faster response times, but not even high-end handheld PCs that cost almost twice as much do all that.
I'd say considering Switch 2 is a gaming device, response times matters the most. Some Apple devices had otherwise good LCD screens with bad ghosting, but for doing the things most people use them for this was not a great issue.

I can definitely make out 2 after images in that image, but there's little doubt it is significantly clearer than the ones linked above. Enough so that now I would entertain the idea there's a panel lottery.

It's still not going to be as good as OLED, but that definitely seems less blurry. Though you also have to consider different cameras, different ISO settings, shutter speed, etc.

Generally speaking, most people don't notice the issue regardless. I am able to create images similar to that one above with my Switch 2, I'll have to check out that demo later and see where it falls. If anything I feel it'll look more like the clearer image myself.

Just a photo taken with my phone while the game was running.

You're going to need to use a shutter speed much higher than the refresh rate, or you might catch multiple frames in your photo though. For my test I went with 1/500th of a second and it worked great. You can see the OLED Switch vs the LCD Switch 2:

nintendo says sorry for not putting the latest high tech screen in your hybrid gaming machine. they we're thinking about a pro version at 1000$ just for you, but they though you're just talk and wouldn't really buy it.
Haha, who says that I would bit buy it? Man, I pushed some buttons there didn't I ;)?

Pretty much my sentiments at this point.

I can't replicate what Linneman has shown on video.

I don't doubt there is ghosting on Switch 2 displays, but the severity seems to be varied which is what no one seems to be getting. Too many people are making a blanket assumption that because Linneman has ghosting issues, it's representative of every Switch 2 console currently in consumer hands. This thread has shown not everyone is having the same issues with the IPS display. We can yammer on all day long about Nintendo's choice of display hardware being what it is, but the problem is not every display. We really need more information about the manufacturing and what companies were doing displays. The Switch 1 had multiple display manufacturers on the original model. Wouldn't be surprised if they did the same thing for the S2. Just a question of what location is putting out the best displays at this current time.
This is what I said earlier too. Everyone was talking about sonic and ghosting . Got sonic , I don't see anything . Imma try the demo too later on and if I see nothing there is that. My screen is fine .

There is a screen lottery. I highly doubt one company made all the screens for the switch anyway

Could John's photos be dishonest? I mean, he uploads videos, and he shoots and edits them at a professional level. He should know that, right?
