Gears of War: Reloaded coming to Steam, Xbox and PS5

Should have been the Marcus Fenix trilogy for 70€...

I'll vote with my wallet... and I'll bite for 40€ tho.

Man, you can never waste an opportunity to shill and glaze for MS over there, huh.

Also, how is calling what should be Windows PC an "Xbox PC" "brilliant" marketing? For one it's not even true; any PC running Linux or FreeBSD isn't a Windows PC so it's not an "Xbox" PC either. And the PS2 wasn't advertised as a console as in also being a Dreamcast, GameCube or Xbox. It was advertised as a PS2 that could also play DVD movies. VERY different thing.

Like take a moment to think before you glaze, gotdamn.

A campaign and multiplayer mode was included in the original game. I'd sure hope it'd be included in the remaster.

Oblivion was literally rebuilt from the ground up in a completely different, modern engine, with an entirely new lighting system, completely rebuilt environments from top to bottom, completely recreated character models, tons of new lines of dialogue added, combat/UI/leveling system completely overhauled, ray tracing added, etc... etc.. etc..

Oblivion is much more comparable to something like the Dead Space remake or Demon's Souls or Shadow of the Colossus.

Everything we're seeing of this Gears remaster suggests it's closer to Uncharted: The Nathan Drake collection or Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

…but appearing for the first time on PlayStation and as a non-UWP title on PC via Steam. It's still a package with Campaign and MP for $40.

It's all about the content included. For existing Xbox owners (digital), it's a free upgrade.

Super casual fans have no idea. Even when Halo comes out it'll probably take a year plus for a lot of these people to realize Halo is even on PS5, but as more people recognize this, it'll do irreparable damage.

Most of those 'super casual fans' already bought a PlayStation. It's the new default these days.

Most of the 'damage' was already done since last gen, and this gen just cemented it.

Microsoft will have to come up with more compelling reasons for people to buy their next console, especially now that prices are set to go up and even more people stick to one console. Keeping back Halo or Gears wasn't going to cut it, especially with Xbox heavily advertising playing games via Cloud.

Up until this price increase, Xbox was probably selling 50% of what Sony was selling in the US monthly.

300K units vs 150K units for example.

A good percentage of that 150K is casual gamers (varying degrees of casual).

Anytime you have the potential to increase your sales by 50%, it's kind of a big deal. Especially over time. Absorbing the remaining market share of Microsoft probably pushes the PS5 to 130 million units lifetime, compared to say 120 million.

Xbox users are going full Apple, i would have switched to MiO or Android a long time ago

Halo is having its 25th anniversary next year. Maybe they hold off and release a Halo CE remake built in UE5 and release it for the anniversary.

So I guess this puts the "New Xbox" conversation to rest.

It makes zero sense for them to make another Xbox if most of their bigger games will be on Playstation.

I played it on PC when I was a kid.
Never played 2 and 3 because they were Xbox-exclusive at the time.
Where is 2 and 3? The same question as 16 years ago.

I don't care what Phil says, I don't think there will be another Xbox console generation. I like my Series X a lot, but who in the world could justify buying their next console if they even release one??

Day one for me on ps5 to play through the campaign with a buddy then go shit on fools online.

So sick!

He's right literally all the fucking time yet every time he makes a new prediction we get a bunch of smooth brains going "durr wtf does grubb know"

He definitely has contacts embedded in the industry, he's gotten things like Kojima's Xbox published game right 2~ or so years before it got officially announced.

Best of the Gears games, though I would have much preferred the trilogy. I understand why they are doing this in advance of E-Day, which I really hope is excellent and a huge hit.

There's no point in owning an Xbox anymore

Hasn't really been since the Xbone incident.

So physical version owners get nothing and have to pay $40?

Yup. See my comments further down for explanation.

Flooding; unless ps ecosystem has a coop gears competitor. If not a nice appetizer before Eday gears.

This is a great opportunity for Microsoft, Sony has been so quiet and releasing very little the last couple years. There is still a pretty large gap until their next heavy hitters arrive, and Microsoft is more than happy to take gamers' money while they wait. These budget priced remasters of classics are perfect in the current economy too, things seem to have aligned very well for Microsoft, who were well positioned for this.

So no upgrade to who has the physical version?? That sucks ...

It does suck, but I don't see how it would work. GoW UE was released physically for Xbox and Windows, but really the Windows version was a key for Windows Store. The physical Xbox One version would normally be tied as a key, but it would be to the exact same version of that game to download on Series consoles and you'd need the disc. Microsoft is giving out new key codes to accounts that owned UE, not using the original disc to access it. They also do not want to give out an uknown amount of keys to whoever has a physical Xbox disc who can then resell it to someone else who is going to claim they also bought it (and with no real way to prove original purchase/ownership the way a digital purchase is tied to an account).

We all knew it from the Xbone reveal, it was going to take a miracle for Xbox to make a comeback. There were numerous opportunities, the most recent being the Series launch as a reset to gain back key third party support and exclusives, though Halo Infinite not being a return to glory was the final nail in the coffin.

Well, a Platinum GOW wil be mine soon.

Funny as a PS user GOW was dedicated just to God of War, now Will be shared with Gears of War, souns unrreal.

I'm not saying it's some huge rip off at $40, I'm just saying that it sure looks like a lot more time, resources, and money went into Oblivion.

$30 would've been more appropriate IMO but $40 is fine and I'm sure it'll sell well.

?

Releasing games on other platforms actually allows them to continue making Xbox devices because the software market isn't limited to whatever hardware they can sale.

The thing that will happen is they will not sale this hardware below manufacturing cost.

Third edition of first GoW on PC while the two sequels still nowhere to be seen

This better be just first of three.
