justplaying the game might get you there - just doing the quests and exploring gives you a constant trickle that adds up. I've had the welkin moon pass thing since day 1 and 75+% of my primogems are from other stuff. (I didn't do half the dailys either, or the abyss)
tbh I don't think you'd get enough for 1 pity (maybe 60% of it) even with the 5$ welkin pass without burning yourself // unless speedrunning and powerlevelling is something you naturally do
[btw about the pity system - 90 pulls only has 50% chance -you need 2 for certainty]

Surprisingly, everything but the Welkin Pass gets you more primogems. Exploring may only net you 1 or 2, but it adds up quickly at least.

Imagine how many chests you will need to open. Let's say all the chests are the best case scenario and gives you 10 prims (lolno). Now make it 500 chests per region(random number really). 5000 x 3 = 15000 out of 28000 for 180 pulls.
Now imagine REAL prims per chest and real amount of chests per region. Add the time required to find them.Shit is just sad.

IMO both passes suck and don't worth your time and money.
It's better to just wait for a character you want and buy the biggest gems pack with x2 bonus. There's no ideal strategy and stress free way without money involvement, but that's the nature of the beast unfortunately...

Yeah. I was just talking in comparison to buying the pass since I don't think it's worth it. Doing the dailies + whatever you find along the way is much quicker.
I'll take the pick ticket system most mobage have and happily fork over $30 though lmao.
Not sure how many primogems you're starting off with or if you have prior pity on the character banner:
I believe the banners last around 20days. it'd be hard without chucking money into the game for sure
Soft Pity is at 75-90 supposedly. So I would stop pulling around 75 and single pull after.
The biggest issue is if you don't get Ganyu the first time then you'll need another 12,000 - 14,400 gems
-Blessing of the welkin moon would net you around 1600ish (18days) 1 - 10pull
-Doing dailies every single day (20 days) would net you 1200 gems
It's pretty hard to calculate this given a number of factors, pity, current gems, etc.
Tl;dr you'd need 28,800 gems to guarantee Ganyu with zero pity assuming 90th pull

I'm working with jack because I would roll for Keqing everytime in failure prior.
On the bright side, I have a lot of side quests and first time clears to go through that'll net me quite a bit that I ignored due to time.

For 5 stars for a guaranteed pull you'll need 180 wishes. If lucky 90. If really lucky less.
So ratio for just 1 is going to be 14,400~28,800 PG.
Getting a 5 star with max constellations will be a ratio of 100,500~201,000 PG.
Early on if you want a C6 you'll need to whale out if you want them ASAP.
F2P you could potentially slowly build up gems if you do commissions everyday.
If you do Welkin Blessing and commissions everyday you have a 30 day period that accumulates 4500 gems per month. 150 per day.
If you relied on just that to get a five star you'd need about 6.5 months to accrue the amount required.
To get a maxed out C6 without spending a lot of money it would take you like 4 years.
For 5 stars.
On the reverse for 4 stars on average with their 75% pull ratio you'll need 4800 gems to get the 4 star you want give or take. Assuming of the 3 you got the one you wanted last. Of course RNG can screw you. For all you know you might roll in Xiangling's kitchen every 4 star pull.
And to max a specific 4 star character out you'd need around 33k gems which can be attained through the Wel-Comm combo in 8 months as opposed to a 5 stars 4 years.
This is based on flat rates and not being blessed by RNG on single pulls where getting a good pull resets the counter.
Treasure Chests, Quests, and Events are not factored into my bad maths.

Can you use characters without constellations? Yes.
Do they turn into superheros with constellations? Yes.
They're playable without constellations but some become amazing with higher ones. Only focus on 4* constellations unless you're going full whale for 5*.

Partially this and partially because of the Qiqi quest line stuff taken out of context.
Well, I finally have 3 teams ascended (but not leveled) to a max level of 80. Looks like I'll be in the xp leyline mines all week this week and probably the next 3 weeks. This character building process is so tedious with the current resin limit. They really need to toss us a few moons per week or increase regen rate or something.

Or just give good enough exp for defeating enemies based on WL. Its absurd that you get the same exp for defeating higher WL beefed up enemies that you get for defeating weaker lower WL enemies.

Depends on the character. Some characters get huge power spikes with certain constellations. Others kinda suck without constellations, and some work fine without them.
If you really like a character it's probably worth shooting for dupes, so you can power them up without investing resin.
I think I'm gonna try for Ganyu because I already have the Amos' Bow. That was the first five star I got, so it might be fun to use that with her. If I get something else, no biggie. I'll just wait for the next 5 star I want. I'm just hoping Xiao and Tu Hao don't come with fantastic new 4 stars, because that would upset me.
It's just kinda difficult to gauge how many primogems you can get in the future. Sure, there's the daily commissions and exploration, but at this point most primogems come from new quests, events and new areas. I was able to save up a decent amount of primogems because the mountain area was introduced, which resulted in a ton of new sources of primogems. We probably won't get that again anytime soon. The Japan-inspired island is probably coming in update 1.5 or 1.6, so that'll take a few months.
