Getting 360 today, need game suggestions ASAP

Alright I'm really spending more money than I should but I'm determined to get a 360 this morning at Circuit City if the rumors of their "relaunch" are true.

I'm willing to spend 600 on everything (not including tax).

So that leaves 160ish on games/accessories.

I'm getting GRAW march 10th, and Oblivion on March 20th.

I figure I'd get one game today, and another controller-

Questions- Are any of the currently available games absolutely MUST HAVE?
Also, the wireless controller has some sort of power dock right?

Anyway thanks for the hasty responses that will help me to spend way too much money <3 <3 <3

i guess the only MUST HAVE is Project Gotham Racing 3, if you like that series. Otherwise:

Condemned, Call of Duty 2 or Fight Night 3. You're already getting GOTY2006 Oblivion and GRAW, so you're set after.

I reccomend Call of Duty 2 as the surest sure bet, unless you have a competent PC. In which case try Condemned.

I'd recommend Ridge Racer 6, Dead or Alive 4, or Project Gotham Racing 3. I'd say none are must haves, but they are my favorites so far, while most people will probably suggest Call of Duty 2 (which I haven't played too much too comment on). Enjoy your new 360, and don't forget about Hexic and GeoWars in the arcade!

Cool. Got mine on Friday (just walked in a store, there was a Premium. I could not resist temptation!) The wireless controller has a plug and charge accessory (at extra cost), that recharges it (I will be getting that).

MUST HAVES? I dunno about that. :P

PS: Is there any way of getting a custom picture for that gamer tag thing (other than purchasing some through the market place)?

Can't say I agree on the Call of Duty recommendation, since it just seems like more of the same WWII stuff I've played before with better graphics. The MP in the game is an abomination, but supposedly they said they are going to patch that.

Condemned was a great survival horror game.

PGR3 is a great racer if you like racing at all.

Other than that, wait for GRAW this week and Oblivion near the end of the month.

They fixin' the multiplayer, no? Call of Duty 2 is a sure bet because it has a great single player campaign, albeit super scripted, with some decently "next-gen" visuals. And you can always challenge yourself by playing on Veteran. I know once GRAW comes out, CoD2 will be a forgotten memory... but it's a safe bet. It's quality.

There was a thread a while back citing IW or Activision saying that they were going to fix the MP by adding a lobby and shit like that.

I've played so many WWII games that the genre feels worn out and tired to me. I need something fresh and new if it's going to be a WWII game I play.

Oh man I'm loving the suggestions but I've played COD2 on computer.

Condemned I'm interested in.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED PGR1 for Xbox, but I heard there's less of a focus on the Kudos system in number 3?
Fight Night 3 is real appealing but I've heard the single player stuff is pretty limited.

If you have played the game on the PC, I would say skip it then for sure. Who knows when or if they will actually fix the MP on the 360. I'm a seeing is believing kinda guy myself.

Get Condemned. It's great. It's not the longest game in the world though, know that.

PGR3 is on sale for 39.99 at CC this week I think so I would definitely pick that up (PD0 is also 39.99, but that's more of an acquired taste). Personally, I think CoD2 is worth it for the SP campaign. To be honest though I'm not either are MUST HAVES, but I'm not the biggest PGR fan out there. If you like single-player FPS though, CoD2 is pretty close to a must-have IMO.

Outside of those, get GRAW like you said, Kameo if you want some adventure. I think both RR6, NFS:MW are good racing games, personally I think NFS is probably more fun (and I'm usually a RR fan)

EDIT: I see you played CoD2, scratch that.

If you loved PGR1, you'll love PGR3. They have systems that fundamentally replace Kudos, although Kudos is still there. I don't think you'll miss it, how PGR3 is set up.

Condemned is fun, I haven't beat it yet but I heard it's short... but imho, it's gotta have much less replay value than CoD2/PGR3.

PGR3 and Condemned are the best launch games. Not much replay value on the latter, but its definitely the most original out of the bunch, very cool art direction and an involving story (Having completed it im still a little surprised it doesnt get more attention). PGR 3 is very very good looking and the handling/feeling on the cars isnt matched in any other racing game.

Am I the only one worried about oblivion?
.

Oh and stay the f*ck away from Kameo and PD0, very dissapointing pieces of trash.

Graw, BO4, and PGR3.

If you start to get low on funds, whatever you do drop a game to make sure you have enough for Live Gold and Geometry Wars : )

I wouldn't touch RR6, the games entirely too easy, it's like driving with assistance turned on after getting used to PGR3.

Wait, why would you be worried?

Oh after reading that little piece from someone who actually played it I started to worry. The guy (Chris Kohler, if I remember correctly) said the game suffers from pretty severe popup issues (buildings coming out of nowhere and green blobs turning into trees) and it has to load every so many meters, and this was especially noticable when using a mount (you moved too fast for the game to keep up).

Now, I dont know how bad any of this is. But usually when everyone is really hyped about a game and only one person (who no one listens too) is a bit sceptical, that one person is often right. Now a lot of people said that if you were in it for the GFX you shouldnt be playing the ES series in the first place, but I dont think its fair to say that, cause these are pretty severe issues if true. And they wont add to the immersion in any case and its not what I had envisioned for the game after having watched the first couple trailers.

The thing is, im sort of scared to say this. But I dont think its the GOTY anyone's gonna say it is, and it isnt gonna be the killer app (for the 360) everyone hoped for. I think its gonna be the same bug ridden game that only hardcore ES players are gonna like. This is all in my humble opinion of course and I do not wish to insult anyone with this statement :D.

Kameo is not a piece of trash, it's not a 9.0 game either. I thought it was a solid 7.0-8.0 adventure game. I'll refrain from commenting on PD0.

Oh my bad, I forgot to mention that this was also just my opinion. But you're right, the 'piece of trash' term might be better suited just for PD0 and 'uninspired' is a bit more fitting for Kameo.

Did you get a 360? I thought you were waiting for a while.

I don't have one myself. Kudos if you did, though. Oblivion...

No, I have to use my friends 360 atm. I pre-ordered Oblivion for 360, I couldn't resist. I'll be over my friends house a LOT these next few weeks :P

he's like my only friend who even plays videogames, he'll have fun i'm sure

I agree that Kameo sucks but I guess I'll be the lone defender of PDZ around here or at least the multiplayer aspect of it. As it stands right now, I've played PDZ more than any other 360 game because of it's Live component and I gotta say that I'm still enjoying the hell out of it. Sure the single player part stinks up the joint but when you have a multiplayer this robust and fun you kinda forget about the other half. The only thing it's really missing is more maps which I hope will be rectified sometime soon.

As far as the COD2 patch, I went online again last night and it still seemed pretty FUBAR to me. I don't know why the fuck Infinity Ward set it up the way they did.

PGR3 for sure, best racer since RSC2

PDZ for its amazing multiplayer (if your not on XBL then dont buy it)

Kameo is a safe bet. Charming adventure game with amazing music and great graphics. Its not a 9 but a solid 8 game

GRAAAW
Oblivion
FN3

If you want to hang with GAF XBL crew, PDZ would be the obvious choice (or wait till GRAW)

Condemned for me wasn't as appealing as I hoped.

Im a huge Silent Hill fan, I love Deus Ex, I love Morrowind and I knew what Condemned was going into it but it turned out less fun and not very appealing when I got into the meat of it.
It's good but possibly not good enough unless you are dying for a horror/thriller game.

If you live in Europe I recommend you to pick up the OXM with the FFXI beta.
Yeah, yeah it's an old game that really don't take use of the hardware but the game has a ton of charm and it's memorable and quite fun. Just enjoy the lower levels in FFXI until you get GRAW and the other cool titles. It has that good ol addictivnes feel that certain AAA games have. Just one more half-hour..

My collection so far consists of PDO, PGR, King Kong, Condemned and COD2 and I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending any of them for the full price when you only got 5 days to wait for some thrilling software. Ok, I can recommend PGR if you're a racing buff.

I got mine on Saturday (for GRAW), just hitting up Demos & XBLA in the mean time. There's enough there to try everything out and be impressed.

Should have gotten PDZ with it but they forgot to ship it. Ive been having fun anyways.

I like NFS:MW.

But never mind, looks like I'm the only one.

I'm with you, I mentioned it. I thought I would like RR6 better, but NFS:MW is definitely more fun to me (I like the courses in RR6, but the whole aesthetic is a little lifeless to me). I think it looks pretty great, and while there are definitely framerate hiccups and tearing, it hasn't bothered me in playing it so far.

Well, Condemned, Call of Duty 2 and PGR3 knocked me out when I played them, so I'm recommending any of those titles.

I'm currently addicted to Ridge Racer 6, but I can't recommend it to you because it's definitely not for everyone...

What is wrong with you people? The correct answer is Geometry Wars.

As an owner of Perfect Dark Zero, DOA4 and PGR3, I will say that I've spent almost as much time with Geometry wars as some of these games.

How about you don't buy a game when you don't know what game to get...

It's not that hard. Get the 360, play geometry wars and some demo's until GRAW/Oblivion and safe some money for the games that you do want without GAF telling you.

EB is still saying the 7th, so hopefully it will be in their stores on Wed.

Oh, and I really have to say - I hated PD0. Now, I didn't play the MP, but I mainly play SP for most of my games and the SP was absolutely horrible.

Kameo was a huge letdown as well.

WTF. Especially when you just posted this:

I Have $70 To Buy PSP Games, What Should I Get?

GET GTA.

Premium system if you can, if not, get a core.

Get the HDD (duh)
at least one more wireless controller
plug and play recharge kit

Games:
PGR3
Fight Night Round 3 (if you like Sports games)
Dead or Alive 4
Call of Duty 2
Some MS points for Live arcade games! :D

That's my top 5.

GRAW and Oblivion soon so you'll have two GOTY on your hand in a matter of weeks. :D

PDZ is like RTCW. Horrible single player but absolutely amazing online. You gotta try it out.

Most likely GRAW and Oblivion are going to be taking over a substantial amount of your gaming time when they come out, so I'd suggest renting some games. Kameo and Condemned are great single player games that can be finished in a one-week rental, and that combined with XBLA, Demos, etc, will tide you over until GRAW easy. If you're a fan of arcade racers then I HIGHLY recommend Ridge Racer 6, it's my favourite racing game ever now.

Uh... He asked for must haves! No, there are no must haves out right now just wait for GRAW and Oblivion. Anyone telling you otherwise is just trying to push an agenda

NBA2k6 is a must-have for anyone remotely interested in basketball, and I have no agenda.

Best hoops game ever.

Condemned kicks butt, despite being short and not having much replay value. This is one of very few X360 games that I haven't sold after finishing it, and that's squarely because I appreciate the effort. I can't think of any other must haves; some would say COD2, but I found it be down right dull despite all its intensity. Sounds weird, but the whole experience pretty much peaks a couple of hours in, and from there on it's just more of the same with little variation.

If you have Xbox live, and are remotely interested in Fight Night, then grab that... I think it is the best live game on the system right now.

So out of the games mentioned, I would suggest in this order:

Fight Night
Call of Duty 2 (if you haven't played already)
Dead or Alive 4 (if you have live or like the series) or Need for Speed (great single player)

Out of all the games out there, these are the only ones that have kept their place in my collection.

I second these recommendations.

I say you really can't go wrong with basically any game. There has been no true standout terrible title yet... it's all up to what you like

I would recommend Kameo (despite being a bit short), DOA4, and Ridge Racer. I really enjoy Ridge Racer, but have yet to pick it up. Come April I'll have to. :|

Get Condemned no matter what, other than that, its gonna come down to what you like.
