Ghost Of Tsushima Director's Cut comes to PS5 and PS4 on August 20!

What time is it?
This is a problem i have with many open world games.
After 10-20 ish hours or so You realize the gameplay loop.
And then i just say to myself.. Do i want to do this loop for another 30 hours? Most of the times i say nope.
Open world games are too long most of the time full with filler.

Pretty much. Some of the concepts were interesting like Haiku writing or the Hot Bath Memories, but most of the meaty combat was uninteresting outside of the duels.

"Director's Cut" :pie_eyeroll:

Wonder what was cut from the original they wanted to include, but couldn't? Because, from what I see it's just DLC.

? huh? But that "DLC" could be the very thing they originally wanted to have, but couldn't.......

That is pretty much the reason why I skipped it as well. Hopefully I can get a ps5 before the holidays.

I personally hated the story and some parts are so bad, its laughable, but its still a very, very solid game, fun exploration and fun sword combat. (don't go into this expecting great stealth, its like Great Value stealth lol) Still worth full price as the experience you get is a very solid one with responsive controls, fluid movement, amazing animations etc. This will be a title folks will be talking about for years, it has room to grow as a series though, but this first entry of a series is as solid as Horizon was, so they can only go up from here.

I’m confused. Is it $19.99 or $29.99 for previous owners?

Its both.

Its $19.99 if you own Ghost on PS4 and want the Directors Cut on PS4.

It is then $9.99 more if you get that and then buy a PS5 and want the PS5 version.

Thus = $29.99.

Think about it....if you own Ghost on PS4, you can pay $20 for Directors Cut.

If you then later on own a PS5 and want them features, you can then pay the extra $10 to get the PS5 version....

I'm not sure how I can break it down better tbh (someone else might though lol)

Now I just need a PS5 remaster of TLOU2 and I'm good.

I want improved textures and native 4K. The PS4 version of TLOU2 has issues with texture streaming even on PS5's internal drive.
Inevitable. They are likely waiting until Factions is almost done to announce that.
I paid full price for the TLOU Remastered so eh

This. I never understand people worried about how others spend their fucking money. If you not paying theses bills, don't worry about it. I see no reason for a developer to be out here working for free for their hardwork. I have nothing against it. Does that user want to work for free? Where is their free work that we can get shit from?

20 for the ps4 to ps5 seems fair
For dlc and dual sense support

30 is just dirty..
Go f yourself 🤣

base game already runs 60 on ps5
Not going to pay 30 for an island and dualsense support 👋

wait are they pretending the game now runs 4k 60 on ps5?

THE FUCK? xd
This is just Bullshit to thwart people from buying used copies and trying to get an upgrade. Why specifically try to target more thrifty customers who bought into your ecosystem when it also fucks over the people who bought the game at launch on PS4 and would like to play a little expansion? It should be free upgrade of the base game with the option to purchase the DLC for those that want it because some people really just want to play the game for a few hours to see how it runs on their newish PS5s.

But the 'PS5 upgrade' just gave you 60fps on the PS4 version of the game, this is not only going further than that with actual enhancements for PS5, but also includes a new chapter of the game complete with a new island. I'd agree if no additional content was provided, but everyone seems to be skipping over the new island when talking about this upgrade. You never know there could be another 20 hours or so of content to play through on the new content
Yeah, true. I guess the Iki expansion gets a little bit overlooked, but I still think it’s slightly too much for my taste.

This is in no way the worst deal ever, it’s still all right.
The worst deal was when i owned Control and the Season Pass for it and 505 games asked me to pay full price for the Ultimate Edition to get PS5 benefits. Thankfully PS+ sorted that out.

Wasn't what I was expecting given that rumor, but I like this. Iki expansion, then a PS5 port. Not bad. And soon.

So Death Stranding DC will be the same pricing, I assume. Wonder if it'll have a PS4 version.

"Director's Cut" :pie_eyeroll:

Wonder what was cut from the original they wanted to include, but couldn't? Because, from what I see it's just DLC.
They added a director's commentary with a historian about the island. And new DLC.

Higher resolution too. Better audio, lip sync for Japanese VO, haptics, and more.

So the Iki expansion is basically $29.99.
$20. Its then $10 to upgrade to PS5 from PS4.

Basically a PS4 user can decide to spend $20 to get the DLC.

Then spend $10 whenever to get the PS5 version.

It's fine, I never thought it was much of a stealth game. I'm just hoping the action and the world is interesting enough for me to keep playing it to the end.

If the expansion alone is 30 euros it better be big as fuck, the frozen wild was 20 euros and it was a 20 hours expansion (on max difficulty doing all the shit possible)

Really cool... But:

"Thanks to the PS5’s ability to render cinematics in real time, cutscenes in Ghost of Tsushima and on Iki Island on PS5 will now offer lip sync for Japanese voice over."

Ps5 only?

Well, I guess I will buy/upgrade this when I get a ps5.

It's crazy how 3rd parties are doing a better job than Sony. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate was a free upgrade.

I don't mind they charge for the expansion. But that should be optional. The native PS5 version should have been free upgrade and a small cost for the expansion DLC depending on the size of the content.

Did they add a new expansion? did they entirely change the mouth movements in the entire game to match another language? did they add 3D audio? did they add good haptics not half assed ones?

It takes man hours to do this, none of this is free to do.

so if you buy the DC on PS4 it's a $20 upgrade from base GoT to GoTDC

When you want to upgrade the PS4 version of GoTDC to the PS5 version of GoTDC, it's another $10

If you already own base GoT and a PS5, GoTDC PS5 version is $30

If you don't own the game at all and want GoTDC it's PS5: $70 and PS4: $60

Correct right?

Correct. And if you have the base PS4 version and don't want to upgrade to any of the GoTDC, you could still play it on the PS5 via BC with the framerate enhancement...for free.

Maybe I’m not as entitled as some.

Ah yes, the magical "entitled" definition that gets abused when one has no arguments. 😂

By all means, feel free to keep rejoicing about having to give more money to a corporation for small updates to a product you already paid for.

Besides the fact that the lip sync is done automatically nowadays, as there are tools for that (the difference is simply that on PS5 cutscenes run in real-time, so that's a possibility), Microsoft offers a large amount of free content to Microsoft Flight Simulator users every two months.

In comparison, this is... quite unimpressive.

The stuff included in the "PS5 upgrade" pretty much qualifies as stuff that almost every other developer/publisher would offer as a free update.

No one gives a fuck about lipsynce if it's paid. And as for dualsense and 3d audio that shit shouldn't cost money. Square Enix allowed people to upgrade for free on Final Fantasy 7. And the extra content was paid. They could have done the same with the upgrade and charged for Ikishima island DLC. But Sony got greedy.

What content? never knew MS had haptics and 3D audio in anything. Lip sync is automated? since when.

as low as $20 for the PS4 DC to get the expansion. another $10 for the visual upgrade. these are fair options and how Spider-Man MM should have been sold.

I'll go for $30 straight up day1, have to see how these great visuals look on PS5.

It's fine, I never thought it was much of a stealth game. I'm just hoping the action and the world is interesting enough for me to keep playing it to the end.

OH trust, it will. The world they crafted feels alive and fighting random bandits and doing small side quest along your journey feels deeply rewarding. You can tell they take lots of notes from the Zatoichi series ie I'm going from point A to point B and on my travels, theses people needed my help lol The general theme is very engaging if you like that sort of stuff and you can tell a lot of this is a love letter to those films and concepts. My only issue with that really is I feel they could have gone darker, what was happening in Japan at that time was extremely dark, like rape dark, like killing kids dark and it seems like Sucker Punch is making a game rated M, but acting like its really PG-13 lol

So I'm hoping they let loose with a sequel and show how humans REALLY behave vs this cartoon idea of human behavior. So they can keep fanboying and talking about how much they reallllllly love Kurosawa, but they are not ready for that Rashōmon life, I enjoy the game, but I feel the training wheels on this one and even a fucking film of something like this wouldn't be this watered down and sugar coated. If a film from the 50's can have a dark theme, a game from 2020 has no excuses the year some shit like The Last Of Us 2 releases. So I do hope they actually trust consumers are very much ok with that. I'd still buy a sequel day 1 regardless of what they do, but I do hope they treat that subject matter with the rawness that it deserves.

I won't buy it but doesn't mean I can't say Sony are ripping people off. Their 3rd party partners are doing a better job than them. Final Fantasy 7 free upgrade is as significant if not more than ghost of Tsushima PS5 port. You stating due to DualSense and 3d audio man hours they should charge and I simply stated the final fantasy 7 Intergrade upgrade was free and the upgrade was quite significant.

It's just dawned on me that this is probably a "Directors Cut" rather than a "GOTY"/"Ultimate Edition" because...

Sword go cut lol.

Well I don't know how many Sony titles they really actually call that. The Last Of Us literally got a landslide Game Of The Year count, during a year a GTA released and even then they still called it "Remastered" on PS4 vs GOTY or anything like that. So the don't often do that, I think the did that with Spiderman, so it seems its not a normal thing for them to always call it that or something.

So who knows. The Last Of Us 2 could be called remastered or GOTY edition or Directors cut, but going based on how they did it in the past, it could very well be remastered, but none of this is set in stone. With Death Stranding being called "Directors Cut" maybe Sony feels it makes more sense to call the remasters with extras that as a company thing. Who knows.

K KAL2006 " Final Fantasy 7 free upgrade is as significant if not more than ghost of Tsushima PS5 port" I mean, I agree, but Square is not Sony and Sony is not Square. Square is also cutting that shit up in several parts to sell instead of just waiting until they have a completed version of FFVII remake, but how Square does business is based on what makes sense for them (keep in mind, I don't even disagree with how they are doing FFVII remake, simply it needs be pointed out)

No developer has an ode to work for free JUST cause Square has a free upgrade for FFVII remake. It makes no sense. That might work for Square, but I have nothing against Sony actually wanting to get paid for the work the teams put into the product.

I'm ok with both moves based on respective publisher and their goals.

Since Technology. Try googling "video games automatic lip sync" and educate yourself before you get flippant to defend your beloved corporation.

Also, haptics and 3D audio aren't content. They're features and stuff that is normally offered in free updates.

As for "what content," Microsoft Flight Simulator's World Updates include airports, tens of new models for point of interest, new photogrammetry, and higher level of detail for entire regions. Every two months. For free.

And that's on top of the sim updates every other month that add new features and improvements.

But it wasn't even close to the amount of effort SP put in, i know this because i played it as well.

You can't run your mouth saying it's a rip off when it's justified for people who like those features. If you don't care just get the expansion and not the Ps5 version.

out of the big 3 Sony has been giving us free shit all the time, free MP expansions and free content, so soon people forget.
