do you have a source, only one I could find is this guyTLOU2 was over 7 million back in the middle of November. It also sold a ton over the holiday so it's easily probably 8-9+ million by now.
The source of Ghost's numbers are Sony which announced it in a blog post today. Benji only has access to some US data so he really doesn't know much about worldwide numbers. He only talks about them when they are announced by someone else. TLOU2's 7+ million was on Gamstat or whatever that site someone linked was. Again that was back in November before they stopped providing numbers.do you have a source, only one I could find is this guy
that said it was at 6 to 7 million units in late december
he also seems to be the source of the ghosts of tsushima numbers
anyone know anything about him?
the other guy said 9 mil and counting.
These numbers only came out because they announced a GoT movie today.Wait, what?
Sony did a sales update, but people told me they don't do that.
Just waiting for a good sale. The game deserve 20+ mil sales
for those who didn't buy it yet:
gamestat isn't a sales source, it is how many people played it, so used sales, multiple people playing it, etc all add to the count, like with days gone it was free as ps+ at one point, so it hasn't sold 9 million copiesThe source of Ghost's numbers are Sony which announced it in a blog post today. I'm aware of that but for a game that hasn't been free the numbers aren't far off. Just like Ghost's numbers weren't far off from the sales number Sony gave last holiday.gamestat isn't a sales source, it is how many people played it, so used sales, multiple people playing it, etc all add to the count, like with days gone it was free as ps+ at one point, so it hasn't sold 9 million copies
Animal Crossing NH sold 9.1 million units at the end of December 2020 in Japan alone.Thought that it had crosed 10M by now
To think that fucking Animal Crossing has sold 31M by now ...
A game that probably had like 1/10 of Tsushima's budget ...
Makes me respect Sony for making AAA games like these possible
yeah were is a stupid info graphic with dumb stats like that, they're fun.Awesome! But how many kunai knives was thrown? I think that's the most important metric
9 million?? Reading posts here I thought it was a complete flop!Gamestat has it at 9M from November last year, likely increased a bit since then now though with it being added to the PlayStation Games Collection.
Gamestats just estimates number of players. Sales will be lower than that.9 million?? Reading posts here I thought it was a complete flop!
Mate I thought the thing hardly sold a million, well based on negative posts here.Gamestats just estimates number of players. Sales will be lower than that.
waiting for ps plus, microsoft and sony have trained me to never buy their games, their best will come to gamepass/ps plus/get dirt cheap (though ghosts is holding its value unusually well)The game deserve 20+ mil sales
for those who didn't buy it yet:
yeah well if we went by here, bloodborne would be sitting at 109324543572394879845 copies and call of duty and fifa would be at 6Mate I thought the thing hardly sold a million, well based on negative posts here.
I don't know. I will only do analysis on games I have. I am not drawn to Days Gone tbh. We'll see.how much we have to wait for your days gone analysis?!
A mix of all the above. Games like Uncharted 4 and TLOU have also been on PS+ so you have to factor in that 40+ million people had free access to them. Spider-Man and Horizon are impressive though as neither has been free yet. Horizon will be free next month via Play at Home though. Some of those numbers on Gamestats for Sony first party games are astronomical. Spiderman and Uncharted 4 at 30M, TLOU at 44M and Horizon at 20. Since we know they didn’t sell that much, is this used copies market or gamesharing, what is it?
No, 6.5 million copies is a really strong showing especially for a new ipAint that a bit low considering the total possible market of ~110 mil? 6.5 mil is maybe 6-7%?
Yup, forgot about PS+. Sooo, that makes Spiderman numbers really sick.A mix of all the above. Sony’s consoles mainly serve as platform to play CoD, FIFA, NBA, GTA, Fortnite and other mass appeal games for vast majority of gamers. More enthusiastic crowd are drawn to their exclusives and they help build Sony’s reputation/image among general public. So, beside selling x number of copies, it creates image that Sony is always creating something new and exciting (progressing the medium), unlike their Japanese (so called) competitors who rehash same old franchises for the past 30 years, more or less.Aint that a bit low considering the total possible market of ~110 mil? 6.5 mil is maybe 6-7%?
Just because every PlayStation owner doesn't buy each exclusive doesn't mean that it isn't exclusives that drive people to PlayStation. A game like Gravity Rush may push someone to get a PlayStation but something like Ghost of Tsushima may not be appealing to that same person. Someone may be interested in Everybody's Golf but not God of War. It has always been Sony's diverse portfolio of exclusives that drive people to them along with third party games.Yea, but the main puah point for buying a PS console overr other platforms is their exclusives and this is always the main reason brought into conversation when deciding what to buy and now I se that one of the best games they published sold 7% of their total possible market. The exclusive part in the decision to buy PS seems to be almost irelevant now... So now, i wonder what pushes people to chose PS over the competitor. For me, these sales numbers were a bit surprising. I would have expected at least 25-30% of the market platform, meaning ~30 mil.
I still prefer an infamous sequel but happy for suckerpunch nevertheless.
Hopefully they are gonna fix the big flaws in the sequel.
Let's use that variance to estimate Days Gone numbers then.
Gamestat player numbers = Estimate based on new copies, 2nd hand copies, game sharing, PSN plus, and etc. So the sales numbers are certainly below than reported player numbers.
Yeah, assuming it cost Sony $150m (which I don't think it would have because SP is a small-ish team), the ROI is still 300%.Wow! That's around $300-400M back in less than a year! Great numbers that would accelerate the sequel after such success.
