Sure there have been some instances of women warriors existing, but that would have been exceedingly rare.
The question is really why after a successful IP debut with GoT did Sony decide to switch the character, advance into gunpowder era, where you have plethora of other similar titles (Ronin, Ishin, upcoming Shadows), and make protagonist female?
I am really interested to see how this title will perform relative to the 1st game.
Exceedingly rare or not, it will be interesting to see if this a genuine attempt to tell a story about a lesser-known figure(s) of history. If not, I think it will become mired in controversy and have its sales impacted, like all the rest.
