Uh oh. Dan just asked on Twitter how anyone without health insurance can afford medical care. If he follows down this road, he won't like what he learns about the American health care system.

I guess I should get TIE Fighter now that the GOG version has the 1995 cd-rom version included. seeing it teased on UPF has given me the itch

Been listening to the old bombcasts, specifically the 2008 GOTY awards today.

- Brad is the only one that sounds noticeably different. It seems like even his way of speech is different back then.

- It's funny to hear Vinny reference his now-wife as his girlfriend

- Jeff is super into narrative in games in 2008, MGS4 came out at the right time for him to dig it. He also likes the story in Gran Theft Auto 4 so much that he mentions crying and being overwhelmed by it at certain parts. The way he describes why he likes GTA4 made me certain that Jeff would have enjoyed The Last of Us if it came out in 2008. He also likes every game on the top ten this year.

- Everybody is so crazy into Metal Gear Solid 4 during this period that it would have blown Dan's mind. The crew praises that game so much. Ryan Davis fights for MGS4 to be GOTY from the beginning.

So true. Going back to old bombcasts is always so crazy. I can't even put my finger on it he just sounds so... different.

Pretty much what every non-American wonders.

Well he should learn. It's totally fucked up.

Just finished the latest Danswers.

Man, Vinny is such an awesome guy. Really hope he gets his podcast thing off the ground, too. Combined with the recent podcast, I realized how much I missed hearing him talk about stuff.

Keep calling and complaining until they budge (or don't). No guarantee of success, but I have a friend who does it with every medical bill and he's managed to reduce costs by thousands over the years.

A co-worker without insurance had to be taken to the hospital after she was roofied a few weeks ago on her birthday. She was on her way home with her friend after she noticed she was getting woozy at the bar following two drinks when the MTA cops stopped her and threatened to arrest her for being drunk in public. She said she was roofied and that she was going to miss her train should they continue bothering her. The cops said she was either going to jail or put into a hospital.

Just a few days before she was in the hospital for something else. So essentially she's going to have pay at a minimum of $10,000 because she was forced to stay over night for roofie testing and got sick a few days earlier. I felt so bad for her when she was telling me the story. She was just about ready to move to Philly, now she's back at square one.

I understand the cops were trying to protect her, but she was on her way home with a close friend. So rather than escorting her to a train seat, they threaten and force her into two shitty financial situations: jail and thousands of dollars for a lawyer, or hospital and thousands of dollars in bills.

Fucked.

so rarely has my hype been destroyed for a game as quickly as it was for THPS5.

Why would you have hype ever when you knew it was

They already proved with HD they have no idea how to make a Tony Hawk game or what makes them good. They fucked up a HD 'rerelease' for fuck's sake. A RERELEASE.

So, since we love talking about MKX, let's talk about Mortal Kombat X on the PC...

The game was about 3 patches behind the console version, and given that it's much MUCH easier to release patches and updates on steam/PC people were understandably upset. I had the game crash on 3 of my first 5 online matches and it's been a pretty crappy mess overall. The one patch they released was 15 gigs and all it really seemed to do is fix a graphical error in one stage.

now this was supposed to come out today:
-Added the free Klassic Sub-Zero costume.
-Display drivers should no longer crash during online play.
-A crash will no longer occur after a full rotation of players in the lobby during Round Robin matches.
-Fixed a crash that some users experienced during the first QTE in the story.
-Game no longer crashes when players attempt to join a game through Steam or in a room.
-Fixed startup crash on high end systems (those with > 8 cores).
-Fixed a crash that would occur during recorded match playback.
-Save data safety check to try to eliminate save data loss.
-Fix to prevent save game data from being corrupted while closing the game.
-Walk away animations now appear at the end of the character selection process.
-The levers in Shao Khan's Tomb will now activate.
-Shinnok's Flick Trick Fatality no longer experiences a significant framerate drop.
-Functionality is no longer lost while watching a match replay.
-Pre-game lobbies will populate 10 players into Faction Battle matches.
-Kombat Kards will now display correct Icons, Backgrounds, and Borders in a KOTH match.
-Fatality inputs no longer change into QTE inputs during in Online Tower Battles.
-Game no longer desynchronizes when a player selects a character that their opponent has not unlocked.
-D'Vorah's cape no longer moves when she's killed.
-Game no longer freezes when opponent in online closes the game.
-Title remains responsive while story cinematics are loading.
-Fixed leaderboards and kombat kards not updating past the top players.
-After entering Replays with the controller the Player can use the keyboard when watching a replay from an online match.
-Loading screens now display before progress bar fills up.
-Diagonal arrows are shown instead of keys when Alternate Control is enabled.
-Sometimes saving a Custom1 preset displayed as being saved for Custom1-4 in the character select and pause menu controls screens.
-The UI arrows will now switch sides on a tagged move when the character switched position with his opponent.
-Chat room names will now display properly (instead of SteamIDs.)
-Fixed input callouts when switching between keyboard and USB controller after entering a KOTH match.
-Additional graphical fidelity options.
• General Matchmaking improvements.
• Performance improvements
• Improved online stability
• Multiplayer invite improvements
• Gameplay fixes and balancing
• Various Kombat Kard fixes
• WB Play fixes
• General bug fixes

Of course youre thinking to yourself, hot damn that sounds alright.

but this 16 gig(!) update erases your save file.

They've had to pull it shortly after its release. And they reuploaded the last update, so if you want to fix this mess you need to redownload the last patch at another 15 gigs.

yo, WB/Netherrealm, come the fuck on.

Buying games 6 months after release is a good idea. I still get to be a cheapass and I get the better experience.

It either slipped my mind or I just never knew that it was being made by Robomodo. I just knew "hey, new THPS maybe it'll be good this time" then today saw the screens, saw that Robomobo was developing it, power ups, etc. and just went NOPE.

I want to know why no teams have made a physics based downloadable surfing game yet. Look at all that speedwater you could devote resources to.

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll compensate users with free Koins.

GEEZ, both times Jeff has been on Danswers, Danny pulled an email about dealing with death involving a close one. :\

its cause it's not wb and nether realm

it's high voltage

yeah, but WB/Netherrealm are the ones taking the hit on it, too. It's a bad look for them. If they're going to outsource their PC ports like this, the least they can do is have it be at parity patch-wise with its console counterparts and not be a flaming piece of shit.

Also, Jeff dropping some heavy truth bombs on the sad anonymous people who seemingly spend most of their time shitting on Dan online:

Anonymous asked:Does Dan's vitriolic Twitter trolling ever make you think, "Boy, this asshole makes my brand that he represents look shitty?"

I don’t think you know what the word “vitriolic” means.

Now that I think about it, you might not have a firm grasp on the meaning of “trolling,” either. Anyway, it seems pretty clear that you have an axe to grind with that dude so maybe don’t follow him on Twitter?

I hate Dan, that's why I follow him on Twitter, tumblr, twitch and MySpace so I can keep up with the dumb stuff he says!

So wait, the patches in this game now almost top the size of the actual game?

How can one version be 3 patches behind when the game came out two weeks ago.

God dammit, videogames. You used to be cool, man.

I saw that and 100% thought it was Gary Whitta that tweeted it until I read your post.
