Same, he's so big and bright compared to the people around him that he really stands out once you know he's there. He also gives giant thumbs up every time that camera pans to his area.

I've started playing Dark Souls because of everybody talking about Bloodborne and I bought it ages ago in a steam sale.
Got proper stuck for the first time on the gargoyles on some church roof so I youtubed it and the first result was a kessler video on the giant bomb youtube lol. It didn't show me anything new except I noticed he had an Estus Flask upgrade which after googling I did have but just used it randomly cos I didn't know what it did

Kill the first gargoyle ASAP. Its been a while since I played, but I believe it gives you a decent amount of time (or when the gargoyle reaches a certain amount of health) before the second joins the fight. Also, Solaire's summon is right outside the boss door, I'd recommend popping a humanity summoning him if you're having trouble.
