No. The main thing you'd miss out on would be any MGScanlon in-jokes coined in Snake Eater.

I'd suggest doing what I do: skip the sections where Drew is running around aimlessly and just watch cut scenes and boss fights (skipping the repetitive middle parts) to get their reactions. And you should finish watching - I didn't like the game when I played it years ago and rewatching it didn't help, but the ending is truly fantastic.
