Too bad once they get to the final episode the account is done (at least it's what they're implying). They should just have it be a 24/7 Bob Ross channel that, once the final episode ends, the first episode starts it all over again. Look it what its inspiring! With MS PAINT!!

I can at least see it becoming an annual event.

Yes, he also finished the uhhh...."expansion" for it.
He finished Holiday Star but I don't think he ever properly finished the first Hatoful Boyfriend because when you get all the character's endings it turns into a
murder mystery where you play as the pigeons
and I haven't seen Danny playing that archived anywhere.

Yeah what happened to this?

Felt like about 9 months ago there was some sort of internal competitiveness between the Dan/Drew and Alex/Vinny pairs to see who could uncover the biggest turd.

Games drought means they will QL trash to produce content - something trash games equally great content though.

Even as a fan of F1, I have to say Dan is completely right about F1. It's such a rich man's sport.
Yeah but as they brought up not all (or even most I'd guess) the drivers are from rich families or anything. Like Lewis' father working three jobs to be able to afford to support his son's hobby, and I think Kimi's story is similar. Danny said it best, it's basically a middle-class (and up) sport.

Am I supposed to see a poll in this or something? I keep seeing people talk about polls on Twitter but I'm yet to see one.

Do you use NoScript or something that could block it? Should be there.

Nope, also tried disabling Adblock. I see it fine on IE when I'm not logged in.. weird.

Also the tweet link opens differently on these browsers, on FF I get a page with nothing but that tweet (and replies etc.), on IE it's Shu's feed but with that specific tweet as a popup of sorts. Internet is weird.

What bug?

edit: Oh, is it something they talk about on the Beastcast? Won't be able to listen until Sunday :(

Yeah, they talked about encountering a bug in WWE2K16 when they recorded the QL. They weren't specific, but they said the game almost become sentient of its own existence, so I am excited to see where that goes.

As someone who lived in Montreal and experienced their bagel delights, hearing Vinny slander against Sesame bagels hurts my soul.

Come up here Vinny, try a fresh St.-Viateur or Fairmount bagel, then get back to me.

There's too much anime because one time I was trying to find cool pictures and drawings of swords online and it kept suggesting an anime.

Anime is such a weird thing. I'm one of those believers in "don't judge a book by it's cover", but Google image search the name of an Anime and 99% of the time your initial opinion is probably not far off.

Especially when as you're typing, "fan service" is normally one of the top options.

Is that the anime itself's fault, or the fault of the audience it attracts?

That's a real ourobouros of a question. Anime has lots of "fan service" (tits n ass) which attracts people who like that, which means lots of anime includes fan service...

I think it goes both ways. I wouldn't let gratuitous fan service turn me off of watching a show I like (Kill la Kill for example), but I'm also not going to go out of my way to watch a show just because it's there. I am 100% sure there are plenty of people who do watch shows just because it's in there though, so IDK. Looking at anime in general, the companies know they will probably get more people to watch it if it has it, so they throw it in there even if it's not necessary, plus I'm sure the people creating the shows like it too.

It's probably self-evident, but it strikes me that anime is falling into the same trap that comics fell into.

Mass popularity starts to dry up, so you begin to pander to your core audience, which turns off the general populace, which reduces mass popularity, which makes the companies pander even more to the core audience, which turns off...

You should probably stop looking up the filthy Anime.

I think I got lucky with the fact that the three different Anime I've seen were both good and not creepy.

exactly. also, piracy is pretty big with anime so they also hike prices up the ass and that hurts them trying to sell anime overseas as well. pretty rough cycle.

yea, I think merchandising and licensing like clothing, toys, figures plushes etc help keep them afloat more than selling the anime themselves.

As with any medium, there's good shit and bad shit.

Generalisations are easy and fun, but not very helpful. American games are all about killing and violence and aimed at basement dwelling nerds, Hollywood movies all have formulaic happy endings and rote characterisation, German porn is all about scat and other weird fetishes etc etc etc

What one can actually do is observe trends and follow the general direction of any medium, hoping that the smaller niches do survive and not die out as the mainstream perception of a thing changes.

So with that in mind and going back to the anime thing, the industry somehow collectively decided over the last decade to retreat into the moe waifu pedo niche and really intensely cater to that market to the exclusion of a lot of different styles, which has definitely made it harder to get to the good shit as well as driving out different parts of the audience (creating a self-perpetuating spiral for the hardcore otaku moe waifu audience).

edit: basically beaten by other people

I've done a really hard turn over the last year or two from anime (which I pretty much always liked more in concept than execution) to manga, which largely alleviates most of my complaints

even watching anime as an exercise in self-hate is losing its appeal to me

The problem is that as you slowly bleed that core audience out, you're not really replacing them.
No company has the luxury of taking such a financial risk (and most likely, financial hit) now in order to ensure the long-term survival of the industry. With individual companies in modern capitalism, it's all about the maximisation of short-term profits each and every quarter, not taking one for the greater good of the industry you're working in.
