At the risk of boring people...

At least the unofficial member finished, and liked it.

I'm not going to lie... WWE 2K16 actually looks a lot better than I expected from all the hate. Tyler Breeze freaking out is actually something that could happen in a match and is much deeper than I expected. I really hope that wasn't a glitch because it's kind of brilliant.

To be fair the Epilogue for TW3 is like, one of the best parts of the game. I didn't think the climax was all that.

That game gets insane going by the Wikipedia article.

If that's true, I guess I'd give it another chance. Game leaves a really bad first impression though. Wondering if Phantasmagoria 1 was like that too.

Two things:

That video was fucking hilarious.

The game is fucking crazy.

Commentary definitely had its moments. Them consistently getting stuck for several minutes looking around everywhere to find out what to do next wasn't one of them. The end of that video really dragged.

So far I'd also call it more "unnecessarily edgy" than crazy based on the murder torture porn and pointless nudity we've seen so far. Though apparently it does get crazy later on.

So, all we have to do now is get Danny on the GotY podcasts and keep everbody else away from them.

Pfff...all of the best GB videos feature that.
Daggerfall, Bioforge, Phantasmagoria 1 etc...

Phantasmagoria 1's story arguably has even less going on and there's a lot of just wandering around looking for stuff. Vinny and Dave made it really fun though. But then I also liked the PG2 video so YMMV.

Personally, I guess these kind of videos would make for better background noise than anything. Really enjoyed Contradiction as it felt like there was always something new going on to keep it really interesting, and even when they got stuck, the game's story/premise was enough to keep me engaged to want to know what happened next. PG2 was just a bunch of nothing for over 2 hours, made watchable by GBEast's commentary.

I don't wanna keep complaining about it though. It was a fine video.

Just finished the last Choose our Adventure video. Man I really hope they're not continuing with Phantasmagoria 2. That game is fucking boring.
I have to agree. I think the only GB thing I've watched more than the original Phantasmagoria RPG are the game show Quick Looks (and maybe Blade Runner).

I mean, if people say it gets crazy, then fair enough. I think the lack of skull man camply reading the name of items and giving hints hurts it.

"I'm your official Mana bar!!"

I was wondering what Phantasmagoria 2 was missing and that's it! The skull was definitely an integral part of the Phantasmagoria experience.

The only argument more tired than GOTY talk

People who don't like Life Is Strange and are wrong about everything

You're on the wrong side of history, friends

Different game, awesome. I know a lot of people really like LiS, but I'm not seeing the point of a GB playthrough - what you're supposed to get out of that game isn't best enjoyed with three guys' commentary.

Huh. Already done with Life is Strange? Did they even finish the second episode?
Might come back as a premium series

I hope the ending is well put together and worth it. It's going to be a real drag getting there so a good pay off would be nice. Seriously, 5 hours to find Dandy! Why the fuck did I have to go talk to 6 different NPC's in a filler step of that quest line?!

It's a well made game but I hope no one who complain about the story pacing in MGS5 claims to like the Witcher's story. So far into this game and there has been almost nothing that has advanced the story.

I feel like the ending fell kind of flat because the pacing completely tanked in last five hours or so.

I have to disagree.

I'd say it wasn't as impactful because of some story elements, not because of pacing. I'd say the whole of the third act is how most open world games should handle pacing as the story nears conclusion.

Even the second act slowly weans you off from doing sidequests.

I think it is highly disingenuous to claim that the Witcher 3 has no story, the various quests all have their own conclusions along the way. I'll also second the statement that Dandelions quest takes 5 hours...

Why does the action in the wrestling videogame have to look so fake. The moves all look so awkward and theres barely any impact to the hits.

I thought that most of the story stuff was fine, I just found it hard to care because the game stopped all it's momentum shortly after it had built it. Once you find Ciri things actually start happening and that continues until you fight the crones, then the game grinds to a halt while you go to do a bunch of small dull quests before going to the final encounter which then lacks any real impact because the game grinded to a halt after building towards an ending.

animating objects interacting with each other is really hard

thats why most games dont have characters actually hold and transfer items or put things on/off. I liked how in the Witcher 3 they got around it by just cutting away and the cutting back to the changed models

If you don't choose to do the main quest line then the story won't advance, but many other different stories are experienced. Most of them better than the majority of games anyway.

The Witcher's biggest problem imo is that you spend so long following things - trails, people, fireflies that it really feels like you have no agency.

Ah. The difference is whether you care about those quests or not. I found them plenty interesting. My issues were more with how
Eredin and the Wild Hunt
were characterized in the end.

It's probably self-evident, but it strikes me that anime is falling into the same trap that comics fell into.

Mass popularity starts to dry up, so you begin to pander to your core audience, which turns off the general populace, which reduces mass popularity, which makes the companies pander even more to the core audience, which turns off...

It's a pretty common problem in video games too. Happened to SHMUPs. It's happening to JRPGs now, and has happened to varying degrees in a lot of genres.

Rewatching the very first Quicklooks they did is really eyeopening how much times have changes. Also, they are all so....quick!
Good times.
