"Move over Macbeth and Ulysses; narrative construction has a new bar" were his exact words.

Which is odd because you don't hear Jeff reference the classics often.

Its funny you guys are discussing story, i was just about to step in her and shit on Witcher 3s story a bit. The overlaying plot of the main story is just horrible. God damn.

Wrong about commas, wrong about everything

It was a bit annoying to listen to though, cause he kept eating that cheese and didn't chew properly.

We're all in agreement Best Horror game goes to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 I assume?

I think Fallout 4 has a real shot at that too, at least with this mod.

No joke though, the first half of episode 4 was one of the most powerful moments of gaming that I've ever played.

Just played the opening of episode 4 too. i seriously hope GBeast plays that opening before GOTY cus nothing this year comes close in regards to best moment/sequence.

It's amazing and heartbreaking.

holy crap I just got to Dan's synthetic weed/Mark Henry/porn store story and I have so many questions that I don't actually want the answers to

Also, when I think about it, if the "Best story" category of GB's GOTY includes considerations of storytelling, I think Bloodborne should show up during the discussions. Unfortunately, I doubt anyone in the crew paid enough attention to the story to get much out of it.
Story, not lore.

Bloodborne will get no mention.

rodea seems pretty fun, not really the type of game that gets made these days and i'm kinda on board just for that reason alone

Yep, I distinctly remember him saying this.

Is this a real thing? Yo for real, don't play. Is this real? Because god damn, it can't be, right? edit: never mind, don't answer this

Fallout 4 has one of the worst stories I've ever experienced, and I fucking love Fallout 4. It's just not something you wanna think about for more than 2 seconds because it breaks when you do.

Soma is a shoe-in for best story imo. I hope it gets some love during the discussions, I really love that game but I think it was overlooked a bit. Its reputation as a horror game from the makers of Amnesia does it more harm than good. It's not particularly scary and is more focused on narrative than spooks.

FO4 has good side stories. but the main story is not interesting so far from what I've played. I wish they would just forgo a main story in general. never understood why they're needed for a game like this.

like most Bethesda games, the most interesting bits of writing and/or lore are some of the random incidental dungeons that you stumble across that were probably written by a single person

I ran across the Dunwich Borers location last night and that was one of the cooler bits of world building I've seen in the entire game

hey myggen is posting links like way after other people post the same links your new gimmick

because you might want to workshop that one a little more

I agree about the main story, especially the way Fallout 4 foists an undercooked backstory on your character to try to wring some drama out of the parent/son dynamic.

Fallout 4 has a couple of decent side stories but even in that regard I think it's sorely let down by a lack of role-playing. Every quest devolves into "shoot everyone" and charisma checks only affect if you get some caps, a lot of caps, or all the caps. It's basically an ARPG at this point with plenty of the Action but not so much of the Role-Playing.
