Ha. I would really like to know what game Kessler hated.

Man, hitting that
Part 2
reveal in Phantom Pain has absolutely killed my desire to play it. Is the payoff worth powering through?

No. I mean, it's more opportunity to play with the game's mechanics but for story pay off? No.

What? The twist is trash and does contribute nothing. I wish I knew it beforehand, would have been less infuriating.

You're not exactly the first to say so in this thread.

Drew does "spoil" a part of the game by guessing, but that's in the first 15 or so minutes of the first episode. I'm not sure if they reference it later in that episode so if you want to be sure I'd skip the first episode.

Guess Who

I heard that Drew guessed a late game spoiler or something. I'm afraid of accidentally seeing it.

The spoilers Drew has guessed are things basically anyone who plays MGSV can guess because MGSV's idea of subtlety is smashing things into your head with a fucking hammer.

Yeah, the dude really needs to stop with the singing. I get that it's hard to resist after doing solo videos with commentary for so long, but it's more annoying than it is entertaining.

the twitter "beef" over mario maker is getting kinda cringy

Yeah, I'm getting mad tater tot vibes whenever Patrick tries to insult Dan.

As a newish watcher,
I have never really understood the Reigns hate.

People seem mad he gets pushed all the time, when in reality all that happen is shit is taken from him at the last possible moment.

I do think it is a little stupid how closely this plotline has gone with the Lesnar thing.

Chapter 2 is much shorter than chapter 1 and gives context on some details of the lore. Unfortunately the mission structure suffers from it, though there's one incredible mission in chapter 2 where anyone that plays the game should definitely see it through. Its some of the best Metal Gear content.

No. I mean, it's more opportunity to play with the game's mechanics but for story pay off? No.

I'm really not enjoying the gameplay anymore. I burned myself out too early on side ops, I guess. The R&D really plateaus hard at one point, so you aren't even getting cool new weapons and gear.

They want to tell the underdog story with a dude that looks like that and is clearly being pushed down everyone's throat.

Also they let him talk too much (he is no good at that) and let him do matches he clearly isn't up to.

I am fine with the Ryckert feud going on, I just had hoped they would have stepped it up to some next level thing by now

I mean, yeah, the story around him has been shit. There is no debating that.
I guess I just don't understand hating Roman "the guy" because of it

I've recently gotten back into WWE this year too and my problem isn't that he's getting pushed, but he's absolutely terrible on the mic and they give him so much mic work. His promos are garbage and while he's decent in the ring, his finishers are also the worst of anyone on the roster.

Its not about them trying to push someone who's not over, but them not even attempting to help him improve the skills he really lacks. If he can't get better on the mic, then he shouldn't be on the mic period.

How can he improve if he doesn't get the mic time to improve?

Not sure what I was expecting from the Kerbal feature, but it's surprisingly boring so far

I love it.
Kerbal is a slow burn (no pun intended) moment to moment, but almost always ends with something that makes me laugh my ass off.

How can he improve if he doesn't get the mic time to improve?

Well, its not entirely on him. Part of it is creative essentially giving him garbage to work with, but he's just too awkward on the mic. Give him his promos on smackdown or off screen, or only give him the mic for a minute. Let him improve slowly before you start giving him 5-10 minute opening/show ending promos.

He doesn't need to be Kevin Owens/Cena/New Day, but he needs to be way better than he is to actually deserve some mic time.

Your heroism shoots up really high at certain points which gives you much better soldiers to fulton to increase the R&D. All the best/unique stuff is around grade 5-6 anyway, where anything above that is just better weapon upgrades that Konami patched in to try and coerce you into buying into their stupid FOB garbage.

Also, as a big Konami fan, Chapter 2 also has a side op that gives you one of the coolest tools in the game where Kiefer also says the funniest line. Its probably in my top 5 gaming easter eggs.

Devil's Third is hilarious to me. it looks terrible, it's apparently only sold a few thousand copies at best, reseller prices are hilariously high, this thread is hilarious

Has he really?
I always got the impression that he got pushed up really quickly.

He was in developmental, then the Shield and has now been alone for a while. He really isn't new at this point. They have so many better guys on the roster but they are not big/beautiful/American enough. Take your pick.

Which one is this? I rushed through Chapter 2 and don't remember getting anything special.

lol. That's it?
Guessed that as soon as Ishmael showed up as well. You're right though. No subtlety.

I mean lots of people knew from the trailers. Which is probably why when I saw it happening I couldn't believe they went through with that stupid shit.

MGSV weapon spoilers

You do the Ibis side op which gets you the blueprint for the hand of jehuty and some really cool emblems. You can also do the Jackal side op to get some cool emblems/titles, but nothing tool specific for that. Its a Zone of the Enders reference where Ibis represents Jehuty and Jackal represents Anubis.

Edit:
"Haidara" is also a term used by characters in the Japanese version of Zone of the Enders 2 so they thought it'd be silly to put that in the english version of MGSV. I just think its hilarious that they actually got Kiefer to record that.

From Drew in the comments on Friday's UPF, regarding the size of their new studio:

The square footage of the new studio is about the same as we had before (the shots show less than half of the room), only this time there are four walls, and no giant concrete pillar in the middle of the room! We literally just plopped down our tables and seats and set up cameras. We are planning on having an actual set (rather than bare walls), but we wanted to get things up and running as soon as possible!

The new Tomb Raider might be coming out on the PC at the end of January, that's several months earlier than I thought. I hope I'm done with Xenoblade by then.

Regarding MGS spoiler talk: Dear lord i'm glad I sold that game for 30€ before it hit 30 by itself. First game I've sold since the SNES days.

I will forever be disappointed.

I'm 3 main missions after where you are. Did a lot of side missions too. I still enjoy the gameplay, but as soon as my first or second try on a mission fails I'll cheat to get through. Want to mainline story now (70 hours are enough of this loop), even though I know it's probably not worth it. I've known about the twist since Drew guessed it but now want to see how it's revealed and in what detail.
There are no upgrades that interest me anymore, and I don't want to replay missions for a specific specialist / blue print.

He said he had it in his bag IIRC? If so it's probably a game that's out.
Well, maybe that was Roundabout? They didn't really specify that part. Can't imagine a game Kessler doesn't know while having it in his bag and working for Playstation.

Hm, ok I'll keep at it a bit more. The game is made worse by how much filler content is in it, it's a shame.

As long as I'm more likely to start the next mission than quitting to desktop, I'm not kicking it to the curb. But yes, I'm starting to understand the disappointed reactions.
My consumption method of watching Metal Gear Scanlon 1-4 but playing V myself has turned out great.

I was listening to a podcast where Superbunnyhop mentioned that he replayed the entire game, but only playing the story specific missions (which is maybe a little less than half of them) and remarked how the game was better when he played it like that. I tend to agree with it, since as much as I adored playing everything in the game, not all of those missions had to be in the main mission menu when they were clearly meant to be side ops.

All it does it pad an already lengthy game.

Devil's Third actually looks kind of neat to play from the "I'm in the mood for a throwback PS2 linear corridor game." It doesn't look terrible though and some of the mechanics look fun.

But when you consider its by Itagaki who made Ninja Gaiden, its a shame. Though I'm starting to wonder if Ninja Gaiden was the exception more than the standard.
