I get where it's coming from, but yeah, we're WAY past the point of being able to say "no this war, you can't!" It's a far, far bigger cultural conversation about how war and death is just routinely turned into entertainment. If BF1 serves as an inflection point for that I'm all for it, but I think it's way more fucked up that games like Medal of Honor turned the completely indefensible "war on terror" into entertainment than turning back to WWI, which at least has the benefit of not having any living survivors, and isn't still fucking on-going

It's one of the only wars that hasn't been totally butchered by mainstream popular culture, I'd prefer it kept that way. A war that stands alone apolitically as fucking terrible and a black mark against humanity.

None of it makes me comfortable but the horse has bolted on WW2, Vietnam, Gulf etc etc.

You can call it dumb or whatever but I can live with that.
