For the first time in my life, I think I'm dying.

Nah, Jschrier if anything. Totilo defended Gawkers auctions that got them destroyed iirc.[/QUOTE]

Well I just mean because Totilo gave Patrick his big break at old MTV games news and hired him again at Kotaku.

Not a actual fan of his tenure as a EIC at Kotaku and his philosophy of to let a lot of crap through then pull the "we make mistakes and will them from them" card every time and then not actually learn a thing. I guess that was a Gawker wide rule tho.

Jschrier is totally the jewel in that crowd though. Whoever hires that guy next will be gaining a heck of a talent.

Oh

Yeah, if I was in Pats position I still wouldn't hire Totilo. It'd be cute, sure, but.....Totilo really made a mistake by appeasing to Gawker outing gay people.

Here's a list of 2016 games for anyone who needs a refresher.

Of games that are out that I've played, I'd put The Witness, Uncharted 4, Overwatch, and maybe Abzu on my tentative GOTY list.

So far for me out of what I've played there;

DOOM (prob going to be my GOTY)
Inside
Hyper Light Drifter
Dark Souls 3
KI Season 3 (if it counts)

Most of my favourite games this year have been older games. The other games from this year have been forgettable. I'm hoping Dishonoured 2 and South Park both deliver.

Data West

coaches in the WNBA
Gaunter O'Dimm and Sam Hayden are probably my two favorite new characters this year, but I have high hopes for Mafia 3. Series has always produced great characters.

Hey, I started that thread! Also, I've been checking it every day. HOW DID I MISS THAT!?

Yeah that thread is weirdly low traffic, the entire thing feels like it should be getting more attention than it is.

They crazy thing is the Gawker post announcing the auctions was from Monday. I posted the thread on Wednesday. I was shocked when I searched and found nothing about the topic. Though, once the auction happens, I'm sure the thread will pick up some speed. Unless, of course, a separate thread is created.

Goodfellas was a far superior film.

Meh... I prefered Wolf.

For some reason I just can't enjoy Goodfellas... I actually rewatched it 2-3 weeks ago.

I 100% recognize that it's a good movie but I just find it really fucking boring and everytime I watch it I have a tough time getting to the end.

As far as Scorcese movies goes I prefer Casino and The Departed.

I rewatched Goodfellas a few months ago and still enjoyed it(that cast). I felt by the end that Henry's journey had way more impact after all is said and done. Then again, the mafia aspect and the inner workings of it is always super interesting to me, I always seem to prefer that world.

Oh man this Persona 4 ER was in a bit of a lul around episode 130 but this whole
Adachi reveal and flashbacks stuff is really funny

Man, some people are really sensitive to Dan not knowing as much as them. Is it really that big a deal that he doesn't know the classification of a fucking chicken? It's not like it's a level of ignorance that leads to hateful beliefs. I know Dan loves reactions like that and maybe I'm taking forum banter too seriously myself but I really hate that sense of superiority that comes with education. Someone said in the Beastcast thread that they want to punch Dan in the face with science. How the hell is that attitude supposed to make people interested in education. I dunno, I always feel this stuff should be treated with humility and never come from a sense of superiority. We should be more like Carl Sagan and try to make people want to learn rather than shitting on those who know less than you.

There's my overly serious post to people's reactions to the persona that Dan purposefully leans into.

I elaborated more in the thread itself but

A) obviously "punching someone in the face with science" is itself a jokey statement of exasperation

B) this doesn't come from a place of superiority but more a place where Dan acknowledges that he is basically trolling people who are trying to answer his questions by immediately reacting with "no that's stupid"

Congrats to friend of the site, Kenny Omega for being the first foreigner to win New Japan's G-1 Climax! It's basically the Royal Rumble but round robin matches spanning multiple days. His matches were fire.

Well from my perspective as a teacher and someone who studied biology (but mostly the teacher side), it's extremely frustrating to hear someone not understand a very basic concept that isn't terribly difficult to grasp. Mammals basically boil down to "do it got tiddies y/n." And not frustrating in the sense that I'm mad at Dan moreso I'm disappointed that something like that isn't known.

Absolutely. Unfortunately other than Attenborough, biology doesn't really have that kind of a spokesman. Most sciences don't. Space is really easy to sell because it's all cosmic wonders, while more grounded information isn't that interesting or is overly complicated (most chemistry subjects).
